[x] [Steppe] Send the traditionally determined bribes (x2)
-[X] [Steppe] Ignore the upstart, he will dash his forces against the People if he dares further action (x8)

[X] [Steppe] Reach out to further relations with this successful warlord (x0.1)

We shall paint our walls with their blood!

Lol, I'm pretty much spewing out propaganda at this point.
Standard Ymaryn propaganda is more likely to be "give the Warlord his bribes so we can go back to being smug assholes in peace" if we're being honest with ourselves.

Your propaganda sounds more like that of a Nomad, so good job if that's what you were going for.

I'd say at this point a severe dislike of the Steppe Nomads is an integral part of the culture of the people. Considering that we've had Rage Against the Steppes since near the beginning of the People, it's no real surprise that the votes are weighted towards 'putting them in their place'

It's no real surprise, but just giving him a bribe also wouldn't go against anything. Just cooler head prevailing in council.

Ok, I think the isolationism that's going on is going to be our largest problem long-term.

I'm actually strongly against the "wait for them to come to us" vote because that will further our isolationism. I'd most in favor of the standard bribes, but I think that going out and taking them on directly is a good plan if that fails. The walls will still be there.

edit: ... too late now I guess.

Should be noted that we've always resisted that urge before, and for good reason. The only time we didn't offer a bribe was during our fey mood NOMAD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Every other time, we were fine with paying the bribe and then stabbing them if they betrayed us.

You were all warned.

LITERALLY, TWO VOTES AGO WAS ABOUT THE NEXT THREAT AND YOU DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE A BIG ONE?
Crow above, burn it all down Genghis the Hun, burn it all down.

EDIT: threat was internal, point stands in some way. Literally the next update after the threat one was a major event,(Gunpowder) so despite the small sample size it would've been safe to say that the warlord is considered a MAJOR EVENT.

Also, for the vote weighting thing, it is because my usual carrot and stick methods of loss of Stability, Legitimacy, and Prestige are unavailable. Making nice with this latest khan would have probably triggered a Civil War in normal play via loss of legitimacy and prestige, causing vassals to break away or otherwise stir up shit.

How would normal bribe play out? Would he just go away, or still come?
