Social obligation overriding personal preference.
Well...at least they seem to be fine with openly acting beyond/outside of said obligation?
Also, @Academia Nut i'm confused...are the three heroes actually married at all? Or is this all unofficial but semi-public relationships?
his experiences as a trader and having two wives already,
...I like how our traders are apparently expected to fool around with all genders, i didn't expect that; i'd have assumed that they'd have had to be more focused on hetero relationships due to our neighbors sensibilities...
With mystical, economic, and military victories in her headdress
It looks like the elaborate badge system that the People use for achievements and awards has come to encompass headdressage, judging from this metaphor :) Probably something limited to the very prestigious; where a skilled artisan that exceeded expectations would get a fancy silver badge or bracelet, the artisan chief that exceeded expectations would get an exotic <insert bird we have to import feathers from the Trelli here> feather to add to their headdress. That about right, AN?

It's you. You are the whore. In this room only one whore exists and is written, it's you. Whore is your literal name now oh my god slow down stop gargling all those cocks you huge whore. HUH ORE <--- Hath King guy mcfuckyou

Only men can partake of polygamous and/or polyandrous relationships, for men are like... y-yang a-and burn away the sins of the flesh or something. Yeah, that's right, that's what I'm going for, it's 100% the word of god.

Whoop whoop doing that revoting due to more info dance!

That fun moment when you realize you just doomed most of the settled world.
incorporate the hawk tribe to try to contain it for a bit longer, then either start salt gifting the shit out of the nomads while expanding in the north or build a giant fuck off sign and delete the trade post we have with the MW

these are our two options

I am curious as to why people want to risk it with the Hawks?

The Romans hiring barbarians was a large part of what fucked them with their own mercs, and this very fact has been brought up in the thread not that long ago.

Kinda a extreme possibility but yeah it could happen if the dice fuck with us or the climate fuckery screws with the nomads and makes them angry.
Rome was fucked over by a lot of things. They relied heavily on the barbarian tribes as mercenary forces, mercenaries that they stopped paying just as their military leaders started fighting amongst each other just after the Empire had been split into East and West. It's a possibility they'll screw us over but for the short to mid-term it is so slim as to be unimportant.

tbf, we are slightly less fucked than the rest of the world. We'll actually have cavalry to oppose them, and hopefully enough fortifications to make us an unappealing target.

Ah, no. No it does not.
Free Cities Unlocked!
Every True City beyond the first decreases Centralization Tolerance by 1. Free Cities are a form of subordinate state that pay for the maintenance of a True City while still providing the benefits (Econ refunds, construction slots for certain infrastructure projects, increased innovation, etc.) but occupy a subordinate state slot and do not take any actions on their own (at this level of development).

[X] [City] Leave it be

So, gonna be honest when I say that the decrease in centralization tolerance is a total pain in the ass, and I'm in favor of keeping Econ slots high enough that we don't get any more true cities.

However, as much as the modern day pope is a total bro, and the Vatican currently lacks a lot of the extant political power it once wielded; it wasn't always that way. At one point, the Vatican burned the world and I have no wish to give our Priests that kind of power.

[X] [Merc] Hire to the Thunder Speakers

So. I really really wanted to use our Merc company as a guard detachment for a northern trading post. Those furs and amber could fetch us some hilariously awesome prices in the southern markets and BIG TREESTM are totally awesome.

However, given that we are explicitly told that the thunder speakers are on the cusp of independence (which also means adding another ongoing player to Thunderdome: Lowland Bloodbath) I am in favor of hiring them out there.

[X] [Hawk] Yes (Hire the Heaven's Hawk Tribe on for -1 Wealth/turn, can be used to guard the north-east and potentially transformed into a March, or for regular military actions; do not count as your subordinate)

I want this option for no other reason than to keep them out of anyone else's hands. Even if we do nothing with them, I will be satisfied with that result. We have enough wealth to hire them, and enough buffer to keep them on for a long time.

They do present some fun options though. We can send them into the Thunderdome or utilize them as further buffer against their own kind. Yeah. I'm good with that. Also, given we will be dropping into negative diplo, I think this is a good idea.

[X] [Hat] Propagate March (-6 Diplo, +4 Econ, +2 Econ Expansion, +2 Art, +2 Mysticism, -1 Centralization, new territory gained)

This is necessary. We need more land to avoid more true cities, and it's in a direction we want.

Surround the Sea, for we are the Empire of The Green and The Blue.

[X] [WC] Deny request

We really don't need more iron or martial. Mostly the Martial bit, but I don't like the idea of further tanking centralization.

[X] [Refugee] Those who arrive on their own (Chance of stability loss, +2 Econ)

Obvious.
