[X] [Temple] Let the glory of your gods be known far and wide (+1 Prestige, Pilgrimage trade power increased)

As much I have my disagreements with maximillian, he is very much on point in regards to this. Pilgrimage TP is one of the major reason why most of South East Asia adopted the cultural and religious practices of India and Hindu-Buddhism. People from all around SEA flock to India in order to learn more and absorb knowledge. Knowledges which will be compounded in both theological and natural base should we center it all on Sacred Forest.

The main appeal for Pilgrimage TP to me however, is the increased spread of our culture. While I do not want to repeat points on the matters of "The Ymaryn are Awesome and Here is 95 Reasons Why", it is a decidedly softer culture of cosmopolitan tolerance. And that, is what I am personally going for.

...by the way, I now know some of the conspiracy theories in Ymaryn future!

The clearly alien "bird" descending from the rift in the stars is clearly an actual alien!

This also neatly explains the unprecedentedly early adaptation of iron by the Ymaryn, as well as what some are sure is an impossible early inoculation.

The found "crow" masks are further indication of an early alien visit.

I do believe something like this has been brought up before. :lol

Also Fythagyna is obviously a depiction of some Genetically Engineered super Ymaryn.

Or marches should be able to protect our borders and our oldest and strongest march can support our colony, changing policies means nothing when none of our direct land is going to get hit in the first turn, changing to defense wont do anything.

I thought about it, but no.

Multiple reasons:
I do not want us to become a crusading people, and since Xohyssiri clearly intend to go into this direction the clash would be early, and fierce.

I also don't want to give too much political influence into the hands of priests, something that would happen with all the "pilgrimage" angle.

I want our clergy to remain as researchers, medics and mostly apolitical assassins as long as possible.

Totally valid.

We can't become crusaders because of our inability to just up and declare war due to our traits.

May I also interest you in landed aristocracy, divine rights, imperialism, high culture, spicy food, Austrian beers, the Catholic Church, deleting France, making makeup (sans lipstick) illegal, banning auto correct, making cheese mandatory on all pizza and making texan the only permissable American accent?

Or am I going to far?

So, somebody made a point that in addition to possible econ problems (though he reckoned we could rely on Gonwyllmyn to sort out econ problems if necessary), going Defense Policy also wouldn't further wall up the actually in danger marches, and would just wall up our already-safe provinces. Given that, I changed my policy vote - unless it turns out we can spend province tasks to fort up marches, in which case I'll change back.

Academia Nut, care to rule on that?

Actually what could happen is this:

We gain dominant in pilgrimage -> Someone else gets dominant and knocks us out -> We freak out and go to war (very likely if it's the Xoh) -> Crusade!

I don't want dominant, I want to keep it at leading at most, enough to stop the region practicing the Xoh's shit and secure our own religion from their influence.

I want security, not domination

I'll take the cheese and spicy food. Take the rest yourself :V

Okay that's fair.

In support of this I don't think the pilgrimage option is likely to bump us all the way to even leading.

What does everyone think about assimilating the MW as well? This is just a hypothetical, but the MW have alot of metals and have just gotten really fucked up. If we help them and play our cards right, we might be able to assimilate them.

Having control over the whole inland sea would make it easy to keep our territory together...not to mention make it easy to dominate the salt market for the foreseeable future.

I like the idea. With the trade post we are already set to suck away at them.

It's gonna happen after this next round of Nomad Rumble though. That kinda takes everyone's attention.

The problem is over-extesion, but we might turn them on a colony...
