Hey bro, veekie doesn't want gerrymandering even though it's a problem that has similar analogues in all types of governments, and is a problem we havent even solved in the modern day. No sir, not gerrymandering.

I swear to Styx I don't understand what dark power he wields that so influences groups. Seriously, is nobody capable of looking at the results and asking, "Gee, how is this working out for us?"

It's been repeatedly confirmed that stopping megaprojects causes unrest (likely costs stability and progress on the megaproject)
Also the Library doesn't cost any econ. It's Art, Mysticism and Actions. Not sure why you think stopping it would even help.
Did you... not catch that part where I said I don't understand the quest mechanics and just vote for what makes sense to me narratively?

Generally, I expected that stopping work on a massive building would give us back econ that we could use in other ways; like building not-library things to keep us safe.

"So let's tear out the entire system of government - again - and try something totally different" isn't a great sell, either.

Fine then. I'll remove the layer of abstracting that the mechanics provide.
Stopping a megaproject in the middle of its work is inherently disruptive. Megaprojects are a large marshaling of resources of various types in the aims of a goal, and stopping all progress on it causes massive civilization-wide disruption.

The Library takes a massive effort on the parts of our shamans, priests, and artisans. It causes almost no disruption to those working on hard labour and farming jobs, which doesn't help the hard labourers who do the large-scale building of walls or watchtowers (or farming).

This combo is too good to pass up.

I'm undecided on the rest.

Apparently, "Let's just do it right the first (or even second) time", isn't either.
Pretty much these. Though, @Guile has a point that we are essentially past the point that tearing it down in favor of geographical is not going to work anymore. At this point we just have to deal with it and burn out the corruption.

What's the name of that thing that gamblers do, when they spend so much so they are terrified of stopping now since they more or less went all in, and if they win the next hand it's all worth it?

Hmmm...

[] [Diplo] Send aid to the Metal Workers (-2 Diplo, -2 Econ, -2 Art, -2 Mysticism)
[] [Policy] Defense

Plus True City -1 Econ +1 Expansion.

Combining these two and True City means we are at 1 Econ at the start of the turn. If we assume Baby Boom pays in the middle of the turn like normal Expand Econs, which since it is listed as +4 Expand Econ/turn is really really likely, then we are at 5 Econ and down 4 Expansion. Then the provinces consider themselves to have no Econ to spend and do Expand Econ (The Law) for 4 Econ and -4 Expansion. So -8 Expansion in total and 9 Econ.

We have 8 Expansion to start the turn with due to True City I think, +1 from the Send Aid. So 9 Expansion. And at the end of everything we have 1 Expansion left.

Hmm...

@notgreat did I fuck up my math somewhere?

For everyone voting for Vallyhome Library; the Palace will be a better choice for admin upgrades. If we already had the palace built, then it would be a different situation.
