Didn't we initiatially have the ttentative possibility of establishing a trading post near the MW? I'm kinda hoping with our prestige and the fact they're weaker than ever we can drop a colony practically on top of them and at the very least bring them into our sphere of influence. With the western nomads having gotten their asses thoroughly kicked we should be able to secure it too.

A pain in the but to implement, but it's what most real life nations settled on so it must work.
And there is are problems with it to this day even though we have had it for centuries.

Thinking it is the best just because the nations of today have it is not thinking critically, and with this kinda thing if the tax taught me anything, it's that we need to be critical. The reasons the nations of today have it is because it is easiest and cements power in the hands of those who already hold power. Game theory thus predicts that people will push to create it in such numbers that it is almost inevitable to occur due to local optimums. At least that is how I understand this working when it comes to Game theory.

It also involves dissolving a structure we've been using for 1000 years and even restricting it to a city, it's a city with almost a quarter of our population and will cause quite a severe amount of stress. Not trying to get on you or start an argument, but I am cautioning you to very carefully evaluate your reasoning. Please, take some time to actually work through what this would mean and it's most probable consequences. If you find that after this you are okay with it, then please leave your vote as is.

Yes we did in that dark green patch to the direct east of their lighter green area.
Certainly seems possible to plonk down a colony. Which would encourage advanced boats and cargo transport by sea innovation.

Yeah they're on the farside of West Wall and on the far west shore of the Not!Black Sea so no Lowlands for them sadly.

They might poke the Super Rich Civ if they go past the Metal Workers which could end up having strange and hilarious results.

Yo @Academia Nut, In case you haven't been told recently, I just want to remind you that you're a pretty cool guy. More importantly, you're an amazing story teller. You bring happiness and entertainment to many. Reading this latest update reminded me of just how talented and creative you are.

We can always went warriors into a march, and police force beginnings would not hurt at all.
And I want to find more guys to trade and steal tech, plus boats inspiration.

Yo @Academia Nut, In case you haven't been told recently, I just want to remind you that you're a pretty cool guy. More importantly, you're an amazing story teller. You bring happiness and entertainment to many. Reading this latest update reminded me of just how talented and creative you are.
I'd like to add to this, @Academia Nut and thank you specifically for the quick and amazing updates on this quest; i actually noticed it around the time i had a bad breakup, and both your amazing writing and having this to throw my mental focus into when i need a distraction has helped a lot with that, as well as the other issues (personal or otherwise) that've come up lately. In particular, my dad's currently in the hospital* for the second time this month, and its been good to have this quest as a distraction <3


*Nothing lifethreatening thankfully, and he should be home and back to 100% in a couple days, but stressful nonetheless

We've almost built enough walls to make them automatic for future settlements. One step closer!
 
I'll add to the PraiseWagontm​. @Academia Nut you are an awesome writer. This simulation and saga you have created for us has been one of the wildest rides I've ever read. Thank you very much for making this story.

Also @Abby Normal I hope your dad recovers without complications. My prayers to Crow will be for him.

I still think (unless AN confirmed that "all major settlements walled" is the trigger) that getting automatic walling is going to come from doing a lot of "settlement paired with walls" turns. Just seems like the way to make our people think that walls are just part of how you build a city

Right now they just need to get him back on the right meds; last time he got out there was a mixup and he (and my grandmother, who was the only one able to go pick him up at the time) thought he still was on his original medication; needless to say, going from "taking new medication for a week, fully on those levels and fully off of old meds" to "not taking new meds, taking old meds" didn't help things much :/ but we caught it before anything serious happened, and now that i'm home from college i can help make sure he's taking what he needs to, so things should be fine. Also, luckily he's had a government job with full healthcare for like 30+ years, so we don't need to have the usual worries about hospital bills and whatnot. But i appreciate the concern :)
