That sounds like it would immediately end our baby boom and create huge centralization problems, like oh my god we would not be prepared for such a huge influx of people.
It wouldn't immediately end our baby boom because the provinces are making econ slots as we take in people. It would cause centralization problems, however, and make it more difficult to immediately create a saltern.

Normally the People don't have offensive casus belli, but holy shit, they would be able to kick an offensive war they would be that fucking ripshit mad if they found out. That violates basically all their values.

"So if we put their waste inside a jar and throw it in those people's river..."

It's not all downside. We get to see what a triple-kicked [X] [Main] War Mission looks like if we ever find out.

Defeating Cholea in the Copper Age.

I think we are going to accelerate the technological and civilizational timeline.

There's a reason that I was all like "Crap, what can I give that is appropriate..."

All things considered, cowpox vaccination and figuring out cholera spread and rehydration therapy are not something that couldn't be figured out with anything other than very careful observation. There's a reason I've labelled a number of techs 'empirical' or 'primitive' in that they have no theoretical grounding, they are merely based off of observation and conjecture that seems to work.

[X] A significant number (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)
[X] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)
[X] Expansion

I propose this plan. We'll have an econ boost from the refugees, lots of settlements that are freeing room for the refugees and our baby boomers, while creating a steady flood of econ to support the megaproject.

[x] The whole lowlands are kind of a mess, you know? (-3 Stability, +6-8 Econ, other effects)
[x] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)
[X] Megaproject Support

Huh, yeah, good point.

But on the other hand, do we really want to go out and kick people's asses for no gain unless we then proceed to expand into their land, an action that honestly, based on the current vote for policy, will not occur?

Changing vote because this has the chance of having us expanding a lot because of the insane number of people we would get next turn.

Will this plan allow for a megaproject next turn?

Hmm that's true I thought it was going to be a diploma annexation where they stay in their villages and lands but now answer to us.

Currently voting this with doing saltern next turn but I am keeping my mind open.

We have 7 slots. This would use them all up.

We still have baby boom, we are good with Econ.

If we keep our medicine a secret, that increases that chance that the lowlands continues to be SNAFU and less likely to screw with us.

We can take care of expansion if the need rises, while our provinces will help lower the time needed for the megaproject.

<3

Okay so our choices are basically:

Plan Go Really Ham:
[] The whole lowlands are kind of a mess, you know? (-3 Stability, +6-8 Econ, other effects)
[] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)
[] Megaproject Support

Next Turn = Rush The Garden.
Downsides: People won't be dying from cholera.
Upsides: People will like us but also will know how to cholera other people.

Plan Be Really Judicious:
[X] A significant number (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)
[X] Keep it secret (Chance of Stability loss)
[x] Megaproject Support

Next Turn = Slow Saltern??
Downsides: People are mad because we survived cholera and they don't know why.
Upsides: People will be dying from cholera while we aren't.

Still waiting on AN's replies as to what we'd share before I pick a side more than I already have.

Wow, okay, everything.

So basically people will be like "They solved what killed all of my relatives!! Amazing!!" But also like "So if we put their waste inside a jar and throw it in those people's river..."
We take the +2 and we get 7 econ, which is enough to build the Gardens.

Guys, we only have 6 econ slots left. Taking in everyone will end our baby boom and cause crowding issues.
We're actually likely down to 4 or 3 since the baby boom fired. I do think it actually takes up 3 slots a turn, we've just gotten odd increases in econ slots that I can't fully account for.

Basically, we'd have to take in no more refugees and then build a settlement. Which is really making me rethink the refugee vote.

This is further compounded by, if we still give out the information and gain stability, we can then use said stability gain to kick the Gardens down to 1 turn, using our main action to get a new province... Hold on, let me type up a plan.

I have to ask, what kind of rolls were there? I assume there was a critfail on the disaster roll, and we critted on the study health roll?
Yeah, I specifically mention the plan providing econ to support the megaproject (which seems to be the saltern).
Woops, missed it. I blame finals.

Why though? Since sharing the cure means they have to buy our salt to survive and slowly let's us establish regional hegemony.

Ymrri-Influenced-Earth-2 to Earth-1: What??? What do you mean you didn't discover sanitary theory in the copper age!??

Earth-1 to Ymrri-Influenced-Earth-2: Yeah, well, we didn't have our own Ymrri who lived in hills, literally terraform their surrounding into forests and the breadbasket of civilization, and developed a full system of writing in the neolithic era. Give us a break here!

Let's not overcrowd our territory and dilute our cultural values while we still have tensions with the Stallions just yet, hmmm?

I mean...even aside from a general reduction in disease helping us, i'd like to remind people that our neighbors 1. are in the middle of chaos even aside from the disease, 2. are already in the midst of a major outbreak, and 3. likely don't have either a comparable admin or shaman infrastructure to us.
We had the advantages of having cholera basically only coming from outside into one province, while being stable, while already expanding our shaman-infrastructure and already in the midst of pushing our shamans to study health, and we still had people die--not much, for a chalcolithic cholera outbreak, but still probably more than we've lost in generations to disease. They're not going to suddenly stop dying, because "dont let sick people shit near the river" doesn't help so much when half your people are sick and either your king is dead or your priesthood/chiefs are distracted by a war.
Hmm...on that note @Academia Nut , how does our priesthood and bureaucracy compare to our neighbors? We were trading with them up until recently, so i'd assume we'd have a decent idea behind "probably better than theirs"

Let the provinces expand while we megaproject, perhaps?

Sharing this with people and taking tons of refugees is one of the worst ideas ever. We are still in the middle of the crisis (for them) we are literally telling our warmongering neighbours WHAT IS CAUSING THE DISEASE! We'll certainly think we're doing right, up untill they use it to kill each other! These people are not rational enough to think "Hmm maybe killing each other is a bad idea!" for more than a generation! Not to mention the fact that we haven't even fixed the issues from the last time we took in tons of people with different social traditions and values!

Although Mega project support seems attractive let's not forget we have almost no women and a large group of young men with no marital prospects.

Keep it secret, keep it safe.

We did this with our last disease project, and it remains one of our best longstanding decisions for maintaining our supremacy and our mysteriousness.
