Yes. It'll probably be short; there have been a bunch of things drawing my attention off today.

Also, an important thing that I did not include in the original post: I would like to say a very sincere and heartfelt thank-you to our intrepid reviewer, who took my very-carefully-reviewed document and immediately pointed out half a dozen mistakes. I don't want to out you without your permission, dear reviewer, but you really should raise your hand so that everyone can give you all the thanks.
You can out me, I'm fine with it.

I'm also pretty sure everyone knows already :p

Reactions:
  1. Hah. Kiba flunked out.
  2. Okay, if Cari's bracket setup is correct then we can get both Noburi and Kei to the semifinal (Hazou loses to both his teammates in a straight fight). Excellent!

Hazo is fighting Keiko on the second match so I guess we don't have to spend as much XP on training Hazo after all?

E: Also there is but one Mist genin who will fight Shikamaru in round 1 and lose.

Way to show off your strength, Mist. I would be very surprised if they didn't try to emphasize the fact that Team Uplift got most of their education in Mist with this in mind.

Aunt Ren must be genuinely happy about this.

I'm not 100% on Cariyaga's bracket being accurate, as it randomizes the order of the matches (or at least it seems that way). In any case, if the quarterfinal matches are also seeded I imagine we ought to be predicting who would win the R1 matches (which we know about) and calculating seeding from there. Like predicting that Shikamaru would fight Hinata R2 since Ino would probably lose to her.

I also just realized that I"m fucking with the order by pulling them around accidentally, gimme a sec :p

Thats how brackets are usually seeded.

Assume straight numerical dominance.

Then in Round 2 we should have

1 vs 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

Continue onwards.

I dont like it either :(

Edit: Although I didn't check to make sure it was good after round 2.

First things first:

Wow! Glad that's settled!
Hah. Someone took my suggestion to heart. Excellent.

This is great! I am quite pleased!
Glad to hear it. :>

Oh, good. :>

Yes! It was @faflec! The Loremaster of our thread is filled with awesome, and you should all shower him with gratitude. Had I posted my original version of that doc and then needed to revise things I'm sure that this revealing would have been much less comfortable for everyone.

Hah. Kiba flunked out.
Yep. It's what he gets for not being a team player. Had he just stuck with the plan he'd be seeded right alongside his team.

That was the design intent, yes.

In other news, it is time to reveal:

The top 16 are:

1 ISC Nara Shikamaru
2 ISC Yamanaka Ino
3 ISC Akimichi Chōji
4 Uplift Gōketsu Hazō
5 Uplift Gōketsu Keiko
6 Uplift Gōketsu Noburi
7 BT3S1 Kashiwagi Noriko
8 BT3S1 Kotsuzui Kenji
9 BT3S1 Minawa Ichirō
10 RT1S3 Doigama Daiki
11 BT2S3 Fujioka Hikoro (F)
12 BT2S3 Ikeda Tsukiko (F)
13 BT2S3 Kawaguchi Hanako (F)
14 Kurenai Aburame Shino
15 Kurenai Hyūga Hinata
16 BT4S1 Ito Airi (F)

Notation:
BT3S1 = "Blue Team 3, Squad 1". Squads were kept together through both rounds and kept the same designation in both rounds despite being on the other team next time. In the second round Red Team 1 consisted of ISC + BT3S1 and BT4S1.

(F) and (M) are gender indicators because I don't easily recognize Japanese names so when I generated these I wanted a reminder.
So, Ino is first against Hinata. Is there any way we can help her last as long as possible against her so that she can drain Hinata's resources a bit?

Oh, good. :>

Most notably, a clerical error would have set Shino and Hinata ahead in the standings, and Noburi/Keiko would be fighting them instead of the other Sand chumps.

I also just realized that I"m fucking with the order by pulling them around accidentally, gimme a sec :p
Fixed it back to how it was originally. I don't know how it orders the matches -- or how @eagjejarl intends them to be -- so take that with a grain of salt.

e:

Alertness. Magical eyeballs.

Hmmmmmmm I wonder who that will be...
Can't have them active before the fight starts. (I assume)

Hivemind...

We have a unique opportunity here in the Hazou vs Keiko fight.

They can rehearse it beforehand 100 times to make it look sufficiently badass and awesome.

We can have Hazou deflect kunai with his fists.

Edit: And we can do it while taking up minimal chakra on Keiko's part!

I will observe that the initial round in that fight will have initiative settled without the Byakugan, assuming you can't use/have jutsu active before starting. Which means that Ino does have a shot if her base Alertness is higher than Hinata's base Alertness (without the Byakugan). She would have to basically insta-win, though...

something something Shintenshin something something aieeeeeeeee

Oh sage yes.

And we can have Mind Games Kakashi direct the choreography to maximise how cool we look.

So half of the participants here are from Leaf. Kurenai got in, except for Kiba because of course he fucked up during the fourth event and got identified a few times. Hinata will be going against Ino, which IMO means the match will end swiftly one way or another - either Ino mind snatches her quickly, or Hinata wins the taijutsu contest. Chōji is going against Shino, which may be a good match for Chōji if he can hit hard and fast, though if Shino can play keep away long enough he'll wear him down. Though in both fights, Shikamaru may have a plan for them to follow. We're up against a team from Sand, which I don't think we know much about.

The Hot Springs Team seems to have been saved by them being put on the same team as ISC in the second round, which I would not be surprised if it was a political favor by Ren to Hot Springs to make them look good, perhaps in exchange for not outing Uplift as the Cold Stone Killers and causing a political mess.

Sand Team also survived on the virtue of being on ISC's team in round one of the fifth event. They appear to have done very well in the second event, rather well in the third, and only ok in the fourth. I'd wager this is a competent team in terms of combat abilities. However, when we got the dossiers I don't believe they were mentioned, so they weren't a top team at the time. Still, let's not underestimate them, as they at least seem solidly competent based on their scores. Depending on how the politics pan out, them being on ISC's team in round one may have been another intentional move by Ren - if the alliance we get can be Leaf/Mist/Sand, then that would be quite valuable.

Our good new friend Doigima got in. Good for him! Making Fang look gud!

Mist got someone in. I have no idea who she is, but the poor girl is against Shikamaru. I would say her chances are bad. Her team's scores are nothing to write home about. Only 26 points in the second event, a respectable 221 in the third, and 49 in the fourth. Survived by virtue of being on ISC's team in round two, which would definitely have been Ren manipulating it so they would be, if only to have one Mist contestant in the tournament. Likely her group's best fighter, given they all had the same score. Still, she's up against Shikamaru, which is not likely to end well for her.

KEIKO: HAZOUUUUUUUUU

HAZOU: KEIKOOOOOOOOO

*sprints at each other through a storm of kunai, explosions and earth debris blowing everywhere*

VOICES IN HAZOU'S HEAD: HOLY SHIT FUCK YES THIS IS AMAZEBALLS
