Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

How is that going? I mean, with new policies allowing for more Nuclear Plants and better way to get rid of (and reuse) Nuvlear Waste, then at the moment there should not be that much of an energy crisis in America, right?
As of right now?

Slow.

Ask again in ten years when America is a mostly energy exporting nation.

@Magoose Are people making reservations for their theater seats for the first showing of ROTJ?

And how far ahead are the theaters planning for the schedule of ROTJ?
No one knows when it will be released and that is a problem.

Theater people are trying desperately to get more info from Mike to prepare but…

Thx is something they have to buy in on that, so they can make it the best.

So it's definitely leading to some good stuff for American movie goers.

It's actually unreal how fucking long this pitch is taking me. I've cut it down from over 20,000 words to roughly 10,000 and have a bunch more to do. Even after that, I still have to write up the prelude that I normally do for my pitches, explaining the context, and doing any necessary touch ups and supplemental material.😭

Balders gate 3 is 30% off where I got it.

And I just got stuff...

Yeah you know whats about to happen, and I apologize for any discomfort for not having an update for a day or two or three.

But my comfort comes first... Though I may have an update up tonight if you ask nicely.

Movie Pitch: Predator: City Hunter
Now, the sequel to the Predator could be seen as a bad movie at first. It certainly does not hit the same beats as the original, and it decides to put it into an urban environment, which in a way removes much of the horror element in it, but still, I kind of like it. It has its charm, it's fun, and the character in itself may not be Schwarzenegger but he makes it work for this film. It looks more like an underdog story, and it helps build up on the mythos for the Yautja for future entries. All in all, I liked this film.

That does not mean that some changes would hurt either. I mean, for all that I liked the premise, I always thought that it would have worked much better if we gave it a bit of a cyberpunk mix to it. Having gangs fighting against the police so openly would work much better if we this as having elements of cyberpunk, with the central authority being eroded, and the police doing everything it can to keep things together. I've added some other small changes which I think can only improve on an already amazing film for the next entry into the Predatorverse.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Predator: City Hunter

GENRE: Action/Horror/Cyberpunk

SUBGENRE: Crime/Suspense/Thriller

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: Lt. Harrigan is a cop fighting the good war against drugs. But recently, the major drug lords have been killed off in a very brutal fashion. His superiors tell him to stay out of it, but Harrigan knows that something is wrong. His instincts are right when he discovers that the person behind the murders is none other than the Predator, the human-hunting alien who likes to make trophies out of his victims' skulls. But how can Harrigan stop the Predator when it can turn invisible and kill him without him knowing it?

Director: Richard Stanley
Composer: Alan Silvestri

- Change it to a Cyberpunk setting in the 2000s, give it a more broken down, futuristic look as the gangs and police fight each other in order to keep order in the city.

- El Scorpio does not die, but instead is wounded and is not there when the City Hunter murders the gang leadership. He assumes command and begins an entire hunt for the culprit, but is instead hunted in return.

- Expand the fight scenes between the Predator and the gang leaders, showing how dangerous the gangs and humanity have become due to the new technological developments. The gang leaders have different ways to fight which they use against the Predator, but still fail in the end, making them worthy trophies.

- The Predator, despite the lethality, shows more of his cunning and hunting skills when dealing with its prey.
Lt. Mike Harrigan: He was an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and head of a small team during the gang wars. His investigation of severe gang violence led him to cross paths with that of a Predator in the city hunting the same gangs for sport. Harrigan was often combative with superiors, whom he viewed as obstructive and unrealistic, although he seemed to hold more respect for Captain Pilgrim, his immediate superior. In particular, Harrigan came into conflict with Peter Keyes and his secret government team attempting to trap the City Hunter in Los Angeles.

Played By: Denzel Washington
Alternate: Laurence Fishburne

Special Agent Peter Keyes: He was a CIA agent and the head of the OWLF task-force operating in Los Angeles. Acting under the cover of a special DEA task force investigating LA's raging gang war, Keyes and his men were actually attempting to capture the Predator. Keyes frequently clashed with Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan's investigation of the murders committed by the City Hunter. Keyes himself was killed by the Predator whilst trying to capture it. Confident, arrogant and suave, Keyes commanded complete respect within his agency, operating with total secrecy and high-level clearance.

Played By: John C. McGinley
Alternate: Gary Busey

The Predator/City Hunter: Also known as "Ghost", it was a Yautja from the Lost Tribe that conducted a Hunt in the city during the heatwave and gang war in LA. He eventually came into conflict with both a government taskforce (The OWLF) attempting to capture him and veteran LAPD Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan. While he is a skilled hunter, he is also still young and overconfident. As his hunt in Los Angeles progressed he became overzealous, carelessly attacking and eliminating any armed humans he encountered, whether the targets were worthy or not.

Played By: Kevin Peter Hall
Alternate: Bruce O'Brian
Dr. Irene Edwards: She was the chief pathologist and medical examiner working for the Los Angeles Police Department. Being the foremost forensic pathologist in Los Angeles, Dr. Edwards was involved in investigating many of the serious crimes that occurred in the city. Mike Harrigan in particular had a great deal of respect for her, once claiming that her work had solved more crimes than the rest of the LAPD put together. As a consequence of her position, many of the mutilated bodies left by the City Hunter found their way to her laboratory.

Played By: Geraldine McEwan
Alternate: Barbara Bel Geddes

Jerry Lambert: He was an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, transferred (at his own request) from Rampart Station to Mike Harrigan's during the gang wars. The team's investigation of severe gang violence led them to cross paths with that of a Predator in the city hunting the same gangs for sport. Jerry's motives for requesting a transfer to such a violent precinct initially concerned Harrigan, who feared the young officer was merely seeking a reputation and fame, but he later proved to be a good cop and valuable part of the team.

Played By: Bill Paxton
Alternate: Tom Hanks

Leona Cantrell: She was an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and member of a small team during the gang wars. The team's investigation of severe gang violence led them to cross paths with that of a Predator in the city hunting the same gangs for sport. Leona was one of few people to encounter the Predator in Los Angeles and survive; she was attacked by the creature on the Los Angeles subway, but it refrained from killing her when it discovered that she was pregnant.

Played By: Maria Conchito Alonso
Alternate: Rachel Ticotin

Adam Garber: He is a CIA agent and member of the OWLF team operating in Los Angeles and led there by Peter Keyes. Garber was Keyes' second-in-command and oversaw the actual operation to capture the City Hunter in an L.A. slaughterhouse from the team's command trailer. Garber was a typical lackey, fiercely loyal to his master but somewhat lacking in ideas or initiative of his own. But when placed in a position of command during the operation to capture the City Hunter he proved unable to maintain control when things started to go wrong

Played By: Desi Arnaz Jr.
Alternate: Michael Anthony Claudio

Tony Pope: He was an arrogant and sleazy news reporter whose show Hard Core followed the escalating gang violence in Los Angeles. As a result of his coverage, he inadvertently began reporting on the killing spree perpetrated by the City Hunter (referred to simply as the "psycho vigilante" on Pope's show). Pope was constantly harassing Mike Harrigan for information, apparently with no regard for the fact that several of Harrigan's co-workers and close friends were victims of the brutal killings he was reporting on.

Played By: Nicholas Cage
Alternate: Morton Downey Jr.
Daniel Archuleta: He was an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and member of a small team during the gang wars. The team's investigation of severe gang violence led them to cross paths with that of a Predator in the city hunting the same gangs for sport. Danny was morally upstanding and fiercely loyal to his superior and close personal friend Mike Harrigan, and he shared the latter's disdain for Peter Keyes and his government agents.

Played By: Miguel Ferrer

Captain B. Pilgrim: He was commander of the Los Angeles Police Department. As such he was Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan's immediate superior. Captain Pilgrim was married to a woman named Ruth, and the two were personal friends of Harrigan outside of work. Professionally, Pilgrim was considerably tolerant of Harrigan's violent methods, accepting them as a necessary evil given the hardened criminals they faced. As such, he expressed regret when passing on the order to defer the investigation to Peter Keyes and his men, but explained that he had no choice.

Played By: Kent McCord

Phil H. Heinemann: He was a senior commander in the Los Angeles Police Department. He often came into conflict with Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan due to the latter's reckless tactics and refusal to bow to Peter Keyes and his federal team. At one point, while working together in the LAPD, Heinemann and Harrigan were good friends. However, when Heinemann was promoted up the ranks of the department, their friendship fell apart over their conflicting opinions and the bureaucracy Heinemann was forced to obey.

Played By: Robert Davi

King Willie: He was a voodoo priest and leader of the Jamaican Voodoo Posse in Los Angeles. Despite his status as a gang lord, he seemed to hold a degree of respect for detective Mike Harrigan, even agreeing to meet with him privately to discuss the unidentified suspect, in fact a Predator, who was slaughtering both the Jamaicans and their rivals, the Colombian Scorpions. King Willie was confronted and killed by the Predator shortly after meeting with Harrigan.

Played By: Calvin Lockhart

El Scorpio: He was a member of the Colombian Scorpions gang in Los Angeles. He was nearly killed by Detective Lieutenant Mike Harrigan following a lengthy and brutal shootout with the Los Angeles Police Department. Due to his wounds he was not present with the Scorpions leadership when the City Hunter went for them, instead he assumed command of the rest of the gang and ordered a wide city hunt for it. This lead to many of the gangers being killed, and eventually himself when he was confronted in their new base.

Played By: Robert Beltran

A.N.: I feel that Richard Stanley is an underrated director. So far, both of the films he made have become cult classics, and his fall came mostly because of that infamous "Island of Dr. Moreau" adaptation that was just a disaster from start to finish (and none of it was his fault). His career has begun the recovery process lately, what with his adaptation of The Color from Outer Space by Lovecraft, but there was so much he could have done if he had only been given the chance. I feel that with this pitch being more into Cyberpunk that he can do wonders with it.

Turn 97 (June 1982)
Turn 97 (June 1982)

You and Mike were looking at the script that was just finished by Dave. The Star Wars: Legends: Battle of The Koral Moons Script had finally come off the press, and Dave had apparently worked behind the back of everyone, especially George, who was… while impressed with the idea… was still entirely consumed with finishing his trilogy. Steve for his part, wanted no part in it, as he wanted to sleep for a very long time.

That led you to, however, look to Mike. "Does George know what you want?"

"No." He said. "And if our luck holds out, he won't know until after it's done."

"Why are we playing this sort of Game Mike?"

"Because we need Star Wars on the lips of every person from here to Krakow to Johannesburg to Melbourne." He said. "We need to get people excited for the last final chapter of the Star Wars trilogy. But something like Star Wars can never end. It has to propagate itself. Keep people invested into the lore… and of course, while it can make a profit."

You frowned at that and almost felt sick. Star Wars was not your passion, and you knew what he wanted. He wanted you to do something behind George's back for the sake of money, which while necessary for the continued success of Lucasfilms…

But it was never about Money. George just wanted to make the best films he could in a world he was so passionate about that it was impossible to understand just how much he cared about it.

What do you do?
[]Make it: Sorry George. But Mike was right. people wanted more Star Wars, and maybe you can give them some of that.
[]Don't make it: You will put your foot down. Hopefully, he understands. But this is a step too far for you.

Nice! Couple of questions if I may?

If selected the first, the changes would be more on the cosmetic side, or the fundamental side?

Also, the second option mean that James and Kenji both make Mega Man, correct?
Amazing.

More will follow when Alan Moore gets his own role to see if he works for DC, Marvel, or Charlton
Awesome! I loved Supreme when I first read it, and was crushed when I found out how it ended many years afterward. I hope that at the very least this can serve as a Miniseries to show the love for the Superman Mythos by Marvel.

After the Crisis on Infinite Earths of course.
It will be made, though it might not have the director you want.

D100 => 99

Nevermind, Cronenburg is in.
Do we get options for Ardmore like we did for Sunrise?
As Predator has not been made yet, I must only give it +15 to SP.

For reasons.
That's fair. We can wait to do the first movie since the Pitch is there already. Besides, ever since I found out about Robert Stanly I've been trying to find other works he could have done. I think he can do wonders with some of the Horror properties around.

If selected the first, the changes would be more on the cosmetic side, or the fundamental side?
both.
Also, the second option mean that James and Kenji both make Mega Man, correct?
Yes.
Do we get options for Ardmore like we did for Sunrise?
in the next action plan yes.

But only for one big movie because of stuff and budgets and the like.

Can't we just have a conversation with George about expanding the star wars universe and hash something out instead of going behind his back?

Okay I am a little confused if we don't make it now does this mean we can't make it later? And consult/Convince George
Well all i am going to say, is that Mike did it without Georges's knowladge might make things good for the film itself...

Or bad.

And that is all I will say.
Can't we just have a conversation with George about expanding the star wars universe and hash something out instead of going behind his back?
In the future maybe, but the asnwer needs to be given to mike on turn, because otherwise, bad things are going to happen.

Like Mike might get the wrong idea happen.

It'd be interesting, creating movies beyond Episode 6. Not only would that allow the cast of Star Wars set the foundations of what might happen in the Sequel, it's also going to allow us develop more lore when we create the Prequels.

It's just that, the way Mike said it and the way he went beyond George's back is something I vehemently disagree with. He should've consulted George about it, but who knows?

I'm fine with creating spin off movies But I'd prefer if it's after the main trilogy is complete. I also don't like Mike going behind Georges back on this.

Since the FCC's coming to see what new shows we come out with maybe we could do a Star wars tv show to tide people over instead. If nothing else we could make the Droids cartoon. Just make sure George knows we're doing it.

Also while I'm thinking of it. Hey @Magoose what would it take action wise for us to have all of our animation studios do a Star Wars Visions type of show? Like an anthology series with each episode a different story and maybe some different art styles.

I wish there was a third option to tell George.

Star wars is his baby. He deserves, at minimum, to be kept up to date with developements
