Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

As he left out the door, he faintly herd Mary switch to talking to her father. "Brandon silly. Daddy and Mommy and Sensey same as I Love you. Daddy and Mommy and Mary teach so Brandon says I know. Now Daddy Sensey Mary about Careful so Mary not make Brandon sad."
Stop, stop, my blood sugar can become only so high. :p

Yep. Like we literally are one of the most interesting men in the world. And that means that, even with our reclusive nature that all but makes the whole damn thing even more interesting.
Remember, most of the time, we don't really interact with the public, or the media, meaning that most of the time, people see us when we are doing the work, either as a producer or as an actor making a movie. We have built a mystique around us, mostly accidentally, partially on purpose because of the media want pictures of the family and Bruce has no time for that bullshit.

So its even better for us that people are trying to get to us, and failing.
TBH, now I am worried @Magoose ... Being "one of the most interesting men in the world" and a "mysterious recluse" will inevitably cause the tabloids to start making shit up about Bruce and his family, simply to cash a quick buck...

I hope that you change your opinion about Bruce needing to be better with the Press before hiring a PR team/division, because it is for this kind of situation in which a PR team could help the most.

And you know hiring trustworthy experts to deal with things that you are bad with is always a wise move (if you can afford it obviously)
Oh well there is also one more thing that most people fail to realize. Bruce dosen't live the ususal hollywood lifestyle, he's just a normal guy, with a hot wife, and wants to do his best to set a good example for his family.

And that is all the difference.
Dammit, we are so wholesome that our wholesomeness is bleeding out to the viper´s nest that is Hollywood.

Let Bruce make his mistakes while he's young. It's more interesting that way.
Mary takes up Dancing
Everything about this is adorable, and I love it!

[]Brandon takes and unwitting apprentice. (Mary is learning martial arts from Brandon and Bruce… kinda)
[]Everything happens for a reason (Unknown effect)
[]Brandon tries harder (Autopass Brandon's schooling action)
I may be showing my bias and ignorance here but my impression is that Carter was good behind the scenes but poor at showing his work and Reagan while an excellent Face and communicator was, at best, badly misled by the people around him into poor or criminal choices that caused and continue to cause harm. If we can narratively swing it I would like to see a second Carter term. I am just not sure Bruce will be happy to come out of his private bubble to Support Carter.
I was only speaking hypothetically as well as explaining that Bruce has that much influence to swing elections.

Not that he would do it.
Stop, stop, my blood sugar can become only so high. :p
Indeed.
Dammit, we are so wholesome that our wholesomeness is bleeding out to the viper´s nest that is Hollywood
It needs the wholesomeness because otherwise it would be filled with miserable people making other people miserable.

I would like this please

[x]Brandon takes and unwitting apprentice. (Mary is learning martial arts from Brandon and Bruce… kinda)

Nothing quite says it would be a bad idea to break this girls heart to a teenage boy like hearing her complain about how Street Fighter Two's car demolition is unrealistic.... and then demonstrate why by skipping the arcade and taking him to a backlot and destroying a car in less than 30 seconds rather than the 40 in game.

Movie Pitch: The Breakfast Club
Alright, when I heard that some of the independent films would not be made I scrambled to try and make a pitch for them. This is one of those as I feel that not having this gem exist would be a travesty. Not to mention that having Lucasfilms be the one to bring this one forth would be among one of the greatest decisions we could have ever made (right along with buying the rights for Stephen King's books if you ask me).

Overall, I liked this movie even if I felt that most of the tropes used are a bit cliche. yet at the same time I have to remind myself, and others, that cliche is not bad, it's the way that is used that determines if it's good or bad. And in this movie the entire thing was done perfectly, with the right amount of feels, and genuine emotion that you can sympathize, and empathize, with the characters and put yourself in their shoes. it is not something easy to do, especially in the 80s, yet it was still accomplished.

Overall, I think this can go well considering that we don't have that many movies that deal with subjects relating with Coming of Age, or drama that is not related to Science Fiction or Fantasy in some way. Not that I'm complaining about it, but other studios (and academy Awards) certainly will at some point.

Having said that, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
The Breakfast Club

GENRE: Comedy/Drama

SUBGENRE: Teen/Coming of Age

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: A teen coming-of-age comedy-drama. The film tells the story of five teenagers from different high school cliques who serve a Saturday detention overseen by their authoritarian vice-principal. Each is required to write a minimum one-thousand-word essay during that time about who they think they are. At the beginning of those nine hours, each, if they were indeed planning on writing that essay, would probably write something close to what the world sees of them, and what they have been brainwashed into believing of themselves. But based on their adventures during those nine hours, they may come to a different opinion of themselves and the other four.

Director: John Hugues
Composer: Keith Forsey

Andrew Clark: He is an "athlete" who was sentenced to Saturday detention for taping Larry Lester's butt cheeks together. Andrew has a difficult relationship with his father, due to all the pressure he puts on him to act as he did when he was Andrew's age, to the point that Andrew can't think for himself and just does what other people tell him to.

Played By: Emilio Estevez
Alternate: Tom Cruise

Brian Johnson: He is a young man who respects authority and calls Richard Vernon "Sir." He is friends with the janitor of the school and while he is at first embarrassed for the other kids to know this, he says goodbye to Carl as they all leave the school. He can be rather silly at times, but it's all a front to hide his misery and pressure he's at when at home, to the point that he tried to commit suicide.

Played By: Anthony Michael Hall
Alternate: Michael J. Fox

John Bender: He's a "criminal" who was sentenced to Saturday detention for pulling the fire alarm and is the most argumentative towards Vernon. Initially, he shows no respect towards anyone; especially the teachers and the school property. But by the end of the film he begins to accept the idea of kindness, and starts showing it towards the others; in particular, Claire.

Played By: Judd Nelson
Alternate: Nicholas Cage

Claire Standish: She is the most popular girl at high school, and she was in detention for skipping class to go shopping. In her own words, everyone looks up to her and looks down on everybody else. Claire still has feelings but cares too much to maintain her status at school, telling the rest that despite their friendship she would not acknowledge them in the halls.

Played By: Molly Ringwald
Alternate: Diane Lane

Allison Reynolds: She is a shy, lonely, unique unpopular girl at high school. Her parents neglect her which drives her to consider running away from home. She was not sentenced to Saturday detention, and attends this one only because she could find nothing better to do. She considers herself a "Basket Case".

Played By: Ally Sheedy
Alternate: Brooke Shields
Richard Vernon: He is the domineering vice principal of Shermer High School who oversees the Saturday detention. He is combative towards the students, particularly John, and judges them based on their social stereotypes.

Played By: Paul Gleason

Carl Reed: He is a janitor at Shermer High School who appears to be on friendly terms with Brian. He's also sympathetic to the other kids in detention, seeing them as individuals with their own problems instead of with prejudice.

Played By: John Kapelos
Mr. Clark: He is the father of Andrew who constantly pressures, and intimidates him, to succeed in sports so that he does not "blow his ride".

Mr. & Mrs. Johnson: The strict parents of Brian who pressure him to do well in his tests and appears unsympathetic to their son's suicide attempt.

Mr. & Mrs. Bender: The parents of John. John and his mother suffer abuse at the hands of his father, with no one seeming to care.

Mr. & Mrs. Standish: The condescending parents of Claire. They constantly bicker, and use Claire against each other.

Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds: The neglectful parents of Allison. She's trying to actually run away from home because of it.

A.N.: I had some ideas for alternate actors for the roles, but at the same time the performance of OTL actors feel so iconic that I just couldn't put them aside. As such, the alternate cast has all the ones I would have thought to replace them with, though that only qualifies for the Main Cast, the minor roles I feel can remain with OTL cast, or just try for any other actor that we can find.

"Think of it like this: Your Grandpa." He said, drawing out the title "Is Your Fathers, Father."

Mary opened her eyes in shock. "Other people have Daddies too?"

"Yep, and Mommies. My Mommy is Linda Lee."

"She Pretty. Like Mummy." Said Mary. "How Know who is persons Mummy or Daddy?"

"Do you know what your full name is?" Brandon asked.

Mary nodded seriously "Mary Frances O'Brien be Careful."

Brandon smothered a Grin. "Do you know what your mother's name is? What your Father calls Your Mother when he thinks you are not around?"

This one was easy "I love you. And then Mummy says I know."

LMAO! I love how adorable Mary's viewpoint is and how she gets so much right and wrong at the same time, really laughed hard especially at "My name is Mary Frances O'Brian be Careful!". Mary continues to be a fun character and it's some nice fluff to see her grow and explore the world. Can't wait for all the other Goslings.

Man, the second half was a real gut punch to read and it really makes me regret not doing anything to save Bruce Lee like with an Omake. I just felt zero motivation or creative drive to do something like that and didn't know what to write and I didn't know if it would be right since Bruce didn't have an exact cause of death, Magoose was so against it and the dice kept on condemning him to his original path. Feel really guilty about all of it as Bruce would have been fun to see and it's sad seeing Brandon go through such pain. Guess we gotta be more proactive in the future.

Although this does raise up an important question Magoose, does Mary know how to walk? A couple of turns ago we saw Carrie trying to teach Mary how to walk but there's no confirmation on if she took her first steps yet or even if she can stand on her own. Also what's her conversational level like?

MiliTech: Intelligence (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): by Mike Pondsmith and Dave Alistair [ Novel / TV Show | Cyberpunk / Spy-Fi Thriller ]

Set during the turbulent Fourth Corporate War, Gabriel Vaughn is a highly skilled operative employed by MiliTech, a powerful mega-corporation renowned for its advanced cybernetic technology. What sets Gabriel apart is his unique cybernetic implant, called the Neural Net Interface (NNI), which grants him unparalleled access to the digital world. This makes him a living weapon in the battle for control and dominance.

As MiliTech's top operative, Gabriel is entrusted with daring and perilous missions to infiltrate rival corporations, gather sensitive information, and protect MiliTech's interests. With his cybernetic abilities and sharp intellect, he is a valuable asset in the treacherous realm of corporate espionage and a formidable adversary against rival factions.

However, Gabriel's extraordinary power comes at a price. He must navigate a world riddled with corruption, betrayal, and clandestine alliances where his actions are scrutinized by both allies and enemies. As he uncovers layers of corporate conspiracy, Gabriel starts questioning his own humanity and the true motives of those he serves.

Guided by the mysterious hacker known as Oracle, who holds secrets capable of altering the course of history, Gabriel finds himself entangled in a high-stakes game where trust becomes uncertain. With his cybernetic enhancements, Gabriel gains access to vast amounts of information but faces the risk of losing his own identity in the process.

Oracle, a highly skilled and enigmatic hacker, becomes a crucial figure in Gabriel's journey. Operating within the depths of the Net, Oracle possesses unparalleled knowledge of the digital realm, making them an invaluable ally as Gabriel unravels the mysteries surrounding MiliTech and the controlling corporate powers. Oracle serves as a catalyst for Gabriel's awakening, challenging his beliefs and urging him to question the true nature of his world. Through encrypted messages and clandestine meetings, Oracle leads Gabriel down a dangerous path towards freedom and enlightenment.

Despite Oracle's significant role, their true identity remains shrouded in secrecy. Speculations range from a rogue AI to a collective of skilled hackers or a former corporate insider seeking redemption. This air of mystery adds intrigue and unpredictability to their interactions, keeping Gabriel uncertain of Oracle's underlying motivations. Oracle possesses unparalleled knowledge of the corporate landscape, with an extensive network of informants and access to classified data, enabling them to manipulate events from the shadows. Their ultimate objective is to expose the dark underbelly of the corporate-ruled world and ignite a revolution where power is not monopolized by the few.

As Gabriel delves deeper into the web of corporate machinations with Oracle's guidance, their relationship evolves into one of trust and interdependence. Together, they form a formidable duo, combining Gabriel's cybernetic prowess with Oracle's digital mastery. They infiltrate secure systems, acquire crucial intel, and uncover the dark secrets buried within the heart of the cyberpunk world. Oracle's motivations and loyalties, however, gradually unfold, keeping the true extent of their impact and intentions unknown.

As the plot unfolds, Gabriel is forced to confront his past, unveil the true puppeteers orchestrating the corporate oligarchy, and make a critical decision about where his true allegiance lies. Will he remain a loyal agent of MiliTech or embrace rebellion to fight for a world free from the clutches of corporate control?

Empire: Turn 66 Results (January-February 1979):

-[X]Kagemusha And the Battle against Toho: Kurasawa wants his film back. And he needs your money to do it. So you will. Now if only Toho would realize that you were being nice. DC: 40 10 million dollars. Rolled:D100 => 84

Right before you began Empire, you were at Toho HQ and saw many things, including but not limited to, many Disney and Universal Studios executives in the midst of negotiations for their piece of the pie.

But what you were doing was something far more… important.

Kurasawa was with you as if he had been finally able to come back, his head held high while you seemed to see just how eager he was. And that was met with scorn by everyone else.

After all, Kurasawa, one of the great Japanese Filmmakers, left to work for the Barbarians of the West, instead of another Studio in Japan. It was a great slight to their honor.

But you didn't care. You were getting it done.

"It's quite simple," Mike said in English, as he kicked his feet up like he owned the place. Which in a sense, he did. Thay money he made them was simply… from Lucasfilms. "So, we want the rights, all of it for Kagemusha."

"You are insane." The translator proclaimed, copying the mannerisms of his boss who was ready to explode.

"No I am not. You see, I am in a very good mood right now. A very good mood. I don't want to sour this by us continuing to see several things differently but see the vision. You lose nothing from a movie that isn't finished and won't be finished with the same flair as Kurasawa has… and without his name recognition, and talent, do you really think you can make back the millions you have already spent?"

There was a pause as he asked. "How much have you spent?"

There was silence before it was finally broken. "The offer is acceptable."

"Good. My lawyers." He pointed to the several lawyers of both Japanese and American copyright walk-ins. Men who were clearly not going to make any mistakes. "We're not leaving anything to chance."

And they got everything.

Reward: Kagemusha is now being produced by Lucasfilms, and Kurasawa is now doubling his legendary efforts to turn it into a masterpiece.

-[X]Begin Empire: It's time to start filming Empire. And that means leaving America for a month or two. DC: 0 (Begin the Production of Empire) Rolled:D100 => 10

It was going to be a beautiful… everything.

-[X]A Magical… What the fuck is that?: So George and company have brought you design plans for his new Headquarters in Northern California. Skywalker Ranch. And he wants how much? Mike, you agreed to this? DC: 20 Cost: Unknown? Rolled:D100 => 99

You looked at the huge Ranch before you almost lost your mind. "What the fuck?"

"Oh, Bruce, didn't see you there," Geroge said as he walked over to you. "What do you think?"

"What the hell is this?" You asked.

"Well, I call it Skywalker Ranch, mostly because I really am predictable, and I knew that Lucasland would be something that would not really work, plus I knew you would hate the name." He smiled. "Well I was going to ask you to pitch in, but I just decided to use the War Chest over the last year to really make this place.

"But what is it?" You asked.

"Well, I am making this my headquarters. I wanted to have a lot of fun, and I just wanted to have a place where we both could have a separate place to work on our own projects. Also, the magicians that live up north want a new place to work and I decided to listen."

"So what does this place do?" You asked as you looked at all the buildings that were constructed, but still working on. "Cause it seems to be a lot."

George smiled. "Well, let's be honest, I want someplace to also… be a place where my kids can say, 'It's our special place'" He said with a smile. "I may work here, but this is more so that, when I get tired, or board… I can just play with Wally, and be with Marcia to take the edge off."

There was a smile. "So this isn't a place where you concoct all your experiments to push filmmaking further?"

George then laughed. "I can't have both?"

Reward: Skywalker Ranch is being built, as a semi-work place for George, but also a place where George and his family can get away from the stress of life and business and spend time together.

Pixar is also moving up there with it.

But when completed, George will roll for a new breakthrough in film technology every two years.

Stephan came to you with The Shining only, because he was told by his agent that The Shining was soon being purchased by Universal. It seems that Sid was ordering Stanley to do one more film before he could do whatever he wanted with his millions and his blank check.

And King was not happy with that. So he drove a few thousand miles to offer the rights.

And you took them.

Reward: The Shinning has been purchased, though Salem Lot is a no-go.

Mike was happy now.

He could rest easy, knowing he had the greatest legal minds in the world.

Reward: Lucasfilm Legal has been created.

All future negotiations, in any facet, will have a +30 to all their rolls… and all failures for negotiations now get a reroll.

However, if it fails twice… bad things will happen.

Reward: Brandon has moved all the way to Junior, because of you.
-------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]Protecting Mary: You will be away for a month or two in Japan, and you need to make sure Debbie and Mary are safe as houses while you away. DC: 10 Rolled:D100 => 21

You thought Debbie was joking when she said that things were being taken very seriously.

You didn't expect her to involve your father in this.

"Don't worry Bruce, she'll be as safe as anyone can be." He replied.

And at that, you didn't worry anymore. They would be safe.

Reward: Mary and Debbie are being protected by Joseph… and he would be… very protective of them.

Nothing bad will happen to them.

When you got to the beach, it was the early afternoon and Carrie wanted to do one thing. Surf.

"Um Carrie, we're about to-" You wanted to protest, but instead you just watched Carrie rent a board and take it out to the surf.

And she ran without a care in the world, knowing that you would follow her.

And it was, as you rented a board and followed her out in the water, and you were a little surprised that she was smiling.

There was nothing to say. And you just did things together.

And that was all you wanted to do.

Reward: Carrie and you have fun. And that is all you both can do.

Dad had them all tied up by the time you entered. "Dad. what happened?"

"Oh Bruce, I thought the cops were here. Seems we have some Cartel fuckers that decided that I needed to be intimidated."

"We're not-" One spoke before your dad just glared at him.

"One more word that is a lie, and I will hit you again." He replied as he smiled, and the men were… terrified as he looked at his partner.

"Are you sure they are part of the cartel and not some… you know, other criminals?"

"Well, I thought that Yazov was trying to kill me because i made him look bad." He then took a breath as he jumped over the bar before he threw over his magnum. "But once they started speaking Spanish, I knew that it was some cowboy trying to bring up drugs?"

"Drugs, here in LA?" You asked.

"Oh yeah," he replied. "Out of all the evil in this world, I've seen… I have seen two that made me squirm the most."

"Dad, what about the-"

"We'll be fine" He took the gun from you. "The police will be here in a minute." He stated as he put a bullet in it.

"Dad…" You stated. "Calm down."

Joseph took a breath before putting it down on the bar. "Tell you, bosses, that once you get out, you fuck around in my bar, I won't just beat the shit out of you."

Reward: Dad may have been ready to do some vigilante work on those men he took prisoner if you hadn't shown up.

You reminded him that he was a good man.

It seems that street criminals working for the cartel are trying to intimidate people.

And failed to do that to your father.

Unknown Effect.

-[X]Meanwhile with Colombia: Alan called you for an important meeting. And it was not one you expected. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 48+20(You managed to save my company)=68

-[X]A Plan for the Future: Carrie was sitting next to you. And she asked what you wanted to do. DC: 0 (Write in below what you want to do in the next five years)
--[X] Have a second child.
--[X] Win an Oscar
--[X] Help Brandon graduate highschool.
--[X] Become fluent in a new language.
--[X] Support Carrie in whatever she wants to do.

Carrie Reaction: Rolled:D100 + 40 => 129

Carrie looked at you and squeezed your hand as you both prepared to go to bed on the last night before you left. "Well I wasn't expecting so much."

"Neither was I honestly, but Brandon came in and made things complicated, and Mary is growing up so quickly, that I think we're doing something right."

"But really an Oscar? Are you that desperate for validation from those creeps?" She smiled as you both looked at your Oscars from previous films.

"Perhaps it's more a challenge, I never got a best actor." You stated. "Only best Picture."

That made Carrie laugh. "Oh, the things we say that sounds really stupid and arrogant."

But you paused and looked deep in her eyes. "And I want to help you in whatever you want."

Carrie was quiet. She was thinking of every word imaginable. But instead, she just said the only ones she could.

"I love you." Tears fell down her face, realizing what you meant.

"I know." As you kissed her goodnight.

And you both fell asleep in each others embrace.

AN: Enjoy.

Ahh... More Cyberpunk, and it will be added to the lore...

But first +15 SP... mostly because Cyberpunk is going to be another big cash cow for Lucasfilms.
Ah thank you my good sir! Absolutely chuffed to see it happen on this All Hallow's Eve before the Update!

Also, I don't know if I put it out there yet, or just completely forgot to, but I've been trying to set up an A and B plot that feed into the Cyberpunk TTRPG proper, where one covers the impact technology has on the political level and the other on the societal and each having their own sister series that occurs simultaneously timeline wise, both of whom having their origin (at least technologically) with Eureka and that should converge somewhat when I finally figure out how to finally properly balance out the space module...been having trouble with getting my hands on Near Orbit and its lore.

‐ A) Deus Ex Saga, MiliTech: Intelligence, Blacklist
- B) Ready Player One Series, Netrunners: Mr. Robot, Limitless
Empire: Turn 66 Results (January-February 1979):
Hot Diggidity Dog, was that an amusement park rollercoaster of a ride.

Hey, we got the Shining! now, we just wait for Brian to finish and then give him the book for him to do his magic.

We might want to think on what to do with the characters as well. I would prefer something as close to Kucbrick's version without upsetting King. Jack Torrence might have to be changed, but we could try to convince him about the wife and child.

Not to mention Redrum, the twin kids, and the whole ambience of the hotel.

And for the love of God, no moving grass monsters.
