Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Here is an idea for a potential expansion for Lucasfilm:

Kenobi Films: Named after the wise character played masterfully by Toshiro Mifune, this Department's purpose is to find good movies from Japan and Hong Kong, make distributing agreements for a world-wide release, and to translate the movies. The department is actually located in an office building in Tokyo so as to form closer contacts with Japanese and Chinese actors and film makers and to more integrate Lucasfilm into those country's film communities.

Also, we could purchase Apple stocks or Irvine stocks. Apple to get into the tech industry or Irvine in order to have influence in a southern California city. Which would be nice as we also have helped a large population of refugees have a supported path into the country.

Muhammad Ali wants a piece of Bruce. Will Bruce take up his boxing gloves once again and give him what for?
Because the hypothetical Bruce boxing movies need another installment after the success of the Olympic one.

This is also Ali in the final years before his retirement. His body is breaking down and this will probably be his last chance at a real serious fight.

Alright, quite a lot of stuff to look at.

Personally, I want us to avoid Ali at least for now. We are not in the right headspace to reply at the moment and we might say something we regret later. I think we should try for some of the Lucasfilms options and try to thin the herd a bit when it comes to those and the actions with Carrie before we go for it.

At the same time, I think we should also try and buy some properties. Going for the Minority Report Novel is a good investment. Aside from that, Marvel awaits for us, and it grows in price the more we wait for it.

What else...I would say go for talking to Miller, but his movie won't be done until the beginning of next year, and he won't be looking for distribution for now.

Also, @Magoose , Basil of Baker Street is also an option for Animated films we can do now as well.

So what did everyone think of the Red Riding Hood pitch? I wanted to go with some more magic hokey pokey stuff, but also tried to keep it family friendly.

[] Plan Geese Herding and Gosling Prep
-[]The Breakdown of Several Things (Conan): You and Steve want to learn from the production of Conan. There is things you want to do to make things better. DC: ???
-[]Preparing for the Media Blitz: Mike wants you to be front and center with the media blitz for Conan next year. That means you have to suck it up, and start smiling for the cameras that you hate. DC: 30
-[]The Editing Masqarade: How many films are edited at the same time and who gets the first pick to finish, Jesus Christ! DC: ???
-[]The Director Spoils: You want to know what the quality of the other films is right now. DC: 20
-[]And George Wants to Begin… Something Else… Wait What?: George just decided to make something amazing in his spare time. What the hell is that! DC: ???/???/??? (Note, this will roll a d1000, rather than a d100. And no bonuses will be applied)
-[]Distributing Deals: Since you have a Distribution Company, or rather, are one… You can meet the major movie theater companies and strike a Deal with them. Even when you had really nothing to offer them. DC: ???
--[] Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla
-[]Just taking a Deep Breath: You and Carrie finally sit down and talk about the future.DC: 0
-[]Exploring your new home: You looked at the baby room, and just looked at it. There was nothing more then what you imagined. DC: 0
-[]A Fear Realized: You took a deep breath and fear nothing. But you were smiling at the possible future. DC: 20
-[]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[] Offer $150 Million dollars to purchase Marvel Comics and integrate into Lucasfilms.

So I think we should take all of the Lucasfilms stuff for obvious reasons so that we can go into the new year with all of our bases covered and besides choosing the next round of productions just focus on being a dad. Really excited to see whatever the hell George has cooked up.

Carrie comes first and looking forward to some nice fluff with planning for the baby and starting a proper family. @Magoose Since Carrie is late term then we should be able to know the gender of the baby, or does she want to keep it a surprise?

Release Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla because it's been months since we've done a Toho film and even with the massive AF money that Last Dinosaur made, they might start to get impatient and a Godzilla release is the best way to appease them, especially since so many posts pointed a branch of Toho getting irritated that we're favoring Lone Wolf over it.

Lastly call Parents, get some nice family fluff to cap things off.

And honestly I wish I could just focus on the fluff and that this Ali nonsense could be pushed back a year or two, but I guess Rocky 2 has to get its inspiration from somewhere. If people don't think that responding to Ali is worth it and we can just ignore him like with George Foreman. If this is something we need to do now, I prepped a potential response I can swap the parents call with. Here is what I wrote:

-[] Give a statement defending your gold medal and career, how you had trained for several years to hone your strength and skill and fought the hardest you ever had in each match against the best opponents. You worked hard to earn your victories, and point out if Ali was saying that you were a nobody, then he was saying that everyone you fought, even the great Bob Foster and Sixto Soria were nobodies. State that while you would love to fight Ali in a proper match, that for the near future you are not interested as you're committed to being present for your family.

Also as Overmind said, the window to closing Marvel might be fast so with our huge AF money, it might be beneficial to do it now irregardless of price range, though at the same time with the massive boosts Duke William has been giving them, that ship might have sailed. Some clarification would be welcome @Magoose . Also which scripts were made in July?

EDIT: Voting for MysteryCPU's plan.

The thought of the plan is to do a lot of the studio work that needs to be done: prep conan, prep for our Media Blitz (note Bruce has a -10 with Media stuff) , check in with the Directors, and edit them.

But, also build up: the TV division for both Gundam and to maybe make a vehicle for Robin (and maybe Bruce who might want to stay local while the Gosling is young). Get Marvel Comics while it is till affordable (love the excellent Spider Man Noir omakes, but Marvel is getting more and more financially secure).

Went for workout since we should do it at least 1/year and focused on Boxing. Not to go after Ali, but because it is a big part of who Bruce is.

Did not chose a night out of town with Carrie. Not enough action points to take it, but also because I figure this month is more about spending time at home when not at work and the quiet moments of reflection and talking of the future.

Edit: Removed Workout and replaced with George Want to Begin... Kaiser Chris asked Magoose and he said we already got credit for Workout for the year.

I'll reserve voting unitl Magoose gives his reply. Meanwhile:

So what did everyone think of the Red Riding Hood pitch? I wanted to go with some more magic hokey pokey stuff, but also tried to keep it family friendly.
I liked it, it gave an interesting spin, and it seemed like fun. Just a couple of things I felt did not work:

First, I can understand why the Huntsman was not at the end, but still, it's an integral part of the story. Not seeing him there just made it a bit dissonant, specially since this is a tlae everyone and their mother know.

Second, the last confrontation seems a bit lacking. I mean, yeah Red tricks him and he goes down, but the Climax should be more grand, a bit more dramatic. Like, for instance, we could make a twist of the entire "Mym what big teeth you have..." part of the OTL story by making Red get closer to the wolf, the lines are said, then just as it seems like Red is going to come closer, she reveals she wa playing all along ("You didn't think I was that stupid, did you?") and then attacks him with what she knows, leading to a climactiv fight where both Red and the Wolf fight each other with their powers, the Huntsman making a surprise appearance and bringing him to his knees, then the Wolf using the Grandmother as a hostage to have Red do as he wants.

Then we can have the final trick, as a way to show that for all his power, and all the fighting, it is the wolf's inner failings which in the end beat him.

So what you're saying is the entire final act should be a kung fu fight scene between Red and the Wolf. Yes, it all makes sense now! The allegory for innocence and purity was all right there, it just needed more backflips and armbars!

But yes I don't feel like the ending works that well either but I was blanking on it for like an hour. As for the Woodsman, I agree he's integral but I wanted a different take on the story.

It's a good defense but generally statements of 'I'd fight you but I don't feel like it' don't really sit well with me.

Ali is also on his last legs. The strain of a boxing career are catching up with him. This is the last chance to fight him before his boxing ability slips down to embarrassing as he tries to fight on despite his deteriating body.

He also needs money which is probably why he's doing this. The man has a lot of children and a problem with infidelity.

More like a magical duel. You did mention the Grandmother was a Druid, and this setting seems on the whole magical. I figured you could have Red be more like an apprenctice who during her trip learns more on how to use her powers, while the Wolf, as the former protector, uses the Grandmother (or his own power) to fight Red. It would be interesting if before both the Grandmother and the Wolf have a prior battle in Act 2 when they meet, to counter the final fight at the end.

I can understand that. If that's what you want then that's fine, you could have Red's animal friends aid her in the fight against the wolf as well. Perhaps have the Huntsman arrive when the danger is over.

Title: Red Riding Hood
I like it.

[]Little Red Fighting Hood (It has led to Tomino having a few ideas and one to many beers.)
[]And THus, There Be Fairy Tales with a Twist. (You may have created a new genre... maybe?)
[]I hate these Crazy Bastards (Disney suffers a minor set back on one of its films.)
Also, @Magoose , Basil of Baker Street is also an option for Animated films we can do now as well.
I forgot. Sorry bout that. let me add that.

That is actually a surprise for me to give.

Marvel... is about to make fuck you levels of money, so you might want to start preparing something to see if they will work with you.

As for the scripts, I didn't have any time to make them, so I'm putting them in the results update so I can actually make them.

Lots of orginial scripts have come in the pipeline.

...

@Kaiser Chris , add buying Marvel...and make it a good deal, now. Quickly! Before Marvel starts making money and becomes too big to buy!

[X] Plan Build Up and Catch-Up with Carrie

@overmind I'm doing MysteryCPU's plan because it has pretty much all the essentials besides the George choice. Also creating the TV division right now is a very smart thing to do because it will entice Marvel more to the purchase by creating a place for the Spider-Man and Hulk shows along with cartoons. However, we may need to do more besides money so I'm open to what other terms we can put in the deal.

@MysteryCPU Would you consider replacing the workout with the George surprise option? I'm pretty sure we got our workout covered for the year thanks to the Conan action stuff and practicing with Jackie and the gang. @Magoose Does the Conan fights count as our annual exercise? If so, include George Mystery, if not, could you please word the option as "Boxing Training". Just want to make sure Magoose doesn't interpret this as Bruce taking on impromptu fights and I don't want to do that when next month the Gosling will be born.
