Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Network with Christopher Tolkein so we can get work on Lord of the Rings movies and sort out any potential troubles with the Tolkein estate.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before since i don't go through page by page, but is there any chance the role of Gandalf can be offered to Christopher Lee?

I always enjoyed that Real Life tidbit of him actually meeting Tolkien and how he basically build his Film Resume to be Best Gandalf. I mean, no shade on Ian Mckellan, but Christopher Lee was really really cool and i kinda hope in the quest he at least achieve his dreams

In the mid 80's if he grows a beard he should look old enough, and he's one of those people who wouldn't look too different in the early 2000's when we follow up with Lord of the Rings. So I'd be okay with it.
We could even offer Ian McKellan the role of Saruman when we do the Lord of the Rings, it would be fun to see what he can do with that. Plus, Christopher Lee will be there to teach him what to say when he's stabbed.

I wonder what would happen if we get a Crit Fail on meeting Frank Herbert?
All I'm going to say is that... Well lets just expect him to try and sue us.

For everything that GEorge owns, as he considers what George made plagiarism, and will try very hard to make sure it never sees the light of day... Something that our competitors would salivate at the mouth at, and support.

Even though Star Wars and Dune could not be farther apart as stories then anything else.

@overmind Wanna switch to something different? Frank OTL was kind of like a declawed cat trying to scratch at George who for the most part seemed pretty unphased.

On one hand, I am desperately hoping we don't get a Crit fail cuz this could ruin us

On the other hand, bring it on Herbert

...Why, just why?

...I don't know. Everything just seems to be determined so that my proposal for Dune and Frank Herbert fails, yet I still want to try.

...I don't suppose you're willing to make an Omake?

I've been rereading old turns and found this
Reward For Mike's Work:
Toho and other Japanese film studios are now only going to you with their importation to America, seeing that you have made them untold millions in the last several years, giving you 50% of all profits of those releases.

All Japanese Media are now available for import and distribution for the rest of the decade and do not require spending an action to Import them.
I think we could have done Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla

BTW, its only for a nat 1 only, and I am saying this now, it won't happen, as I rolled for it and it wasn't that.

As for why?

Two reasons.

one of them is money. The amount of money they could make if they win a legal case against us for plagiarism, while nearly impossible to prove, would be incredibly massive, more then enough to set us back for the rest of the decade, and enough to kill George's Career.

The Other Reason is that at the moment, Franks' son is bitter that his father's books haven't been made into films yet while his dad is still alive, and is... for a lack of a better word, jealous that a talented filmmaker made something like Dune for cheap.

Meaning that it's not impossible to make as some people, but that studios lack vision to see it completed, with a talented director at the helm like George.

Ready Player One: Sword Art Online (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story)
Anyone else know about Cyberpunk RED's free Elfline Online DLC? Because I forgot about it until I was rewatching the new SAO Abridged episode (man, I wasn't expecting that), and it left me with a plotbunny...so here we go:

Ready Player One: Sword Art Online (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): by Dave Alistair and Mike Pondsmith [ Novel (LitRPG) / Cartoon (Anime) | Cyberpunk / Adventure ]

Backstory:
In the 1980s, following a rise in violence initiated by the Cartels in Central America that eventually spills over onto American soil (an event that rumors have said was instigated by a joint ATF and CIA operation), the United States becomes embroiled in the major conflict, causing a significant economic collapse that ends with a military coup results in the European Common Market and Japan rising as superpowers, with the Soviet Union pulling itself back from the brink of collapse, and is coupled with the development of orbital habitats that eventually developed into independent states and the rise of megacorporations that fight amongst themselves for dominance. Other disasters have included food blights causing disastrous famines, and by the late 1990s, the Middle East is a radioactive desert after a nuclear conflict, which initiates a global food and energy crisis with the total annihilation of their crop production and the burning of their oil fields. Bioengineering, against a backdrop of warfare, has resulted in the rapid development of cybernetic prosthetics and direct human-machine interfaces. With the lack of government and police due to the Central American wars and economic situation, casual violence is endemic. Many also suffer from "technoshock", an inability to cope with a world of synthetic muscle tissue, organic circuits, and designer drugs.

Among the many corporations vying for power is Gregarious Games, who rebrand themselves to Gregarious Simulation Systems, after the launch of their flagship Virtual Reality videogame console, the OASIS, accessible by players through the use of visors and haptic technology, created by the company's co-founder, James Halliday. A welcome respite to the decline their world is facing, people turn to the OASIS as an escape, as it functions both as an MMORPG and as a virtual world, with its currency being one of the most stable in the real world. With its success, it creates an automatic monopoly that crashes the rest of their market, leaving one of their major competitors, Akihiko Kayaba, to begin to take drastic measures after being pressured by his parent company, The Arasaka Corporation, who are outraged that their efforts in creating the NerveGear have gone to waste after being outperformed by an American...as well as the potential rating for his life's passion, Sword Art Online as set in his old homebrew setting, Aincrad. Eventually, this culminates in the game becoming a Death Game, purely by accident on the increasingly sleep-deprived and unstable Kayaba's part.

Story:
Sword Art Online, a VRMMORPG exclusive to Arasaka's line of OASIS haptic consoles, the NerveGear, is released to a select 25K+ players on 1300 JST on August 20th, 2024, as part of its gamma testing. At 1317 JST the first players notice the logout button is missing and report it to staff. At 1329 all players are teleported to the Starting Town's Central Square, where Kayaba announces the start of the Death Game.

Kirito, player handle of one Kazuto Kirigaya, a seasoned veteran of these types of VRMMORPGs, takes to this...poorly. Already an extremely snarky, sarcastic, and antisocial Jerkass with a low opinion of pretty much everybody who isn't him, though deep down he actually does care about others...it's just that it takes quite a bit to bring this out, he heads out and trys to make something of himself in a world where the wrong move can mean certain death...but given he's one of the best players already out of the gate, having participated as part of the Alpha and Beta tests beforehand, it starts as a terrible joke with an even worse punchline for him.

And then, as everything else, this game he only bought into because he was having fun, takes a few turns for the worse.

Focus:
An in depth exploration (and supposition) of the type of society that MMORPG players create, before delving into the more cynical aspects of a Death Game.

[EDIT2: Future Seasons:
S1: Follows Kazuto Kirigaya [Kirito] as MC (Title: Sword Art Online)
S2: Wade Watts [Parzival] as MC (Title: Gunter Online)
S3: Suguha Kirigaya [Leafa] as MC (Title: Elfline Online)
S4: Karen Kohiruimaki [Ren] as MC (Title: Gun Gale Call of Duty Online),
S5 (Final Season): Follows the full ensemble, with the creation of their pseduo Edgerunner hacker society, and ends with Bartmoss' DataKrash. (Title: DataKrash)]

A/N: Feels like a fever dream, but I've done it. If it wasn't obvious, this is an unholy amalgamation of a take on SAO Abridged as set in R. Talsorian Games' Cyberpunk, with Ernest Cline's Ready Player One sprinkled in, with the series itself intended to be launched as a Cartoon (Anime), but failing that in a timely manner, as a novelization.

[EDIT: Some of the dumbshit players will likely get up to in the background:

Is it wrong that it fits the Cyberpunk universe more then other stuff?

Cause it does.

Instead of the usual reward, I'm going to give you all this:

Reward: Beware the Cyberpunk: Mike Pondsmith has began his Odessey around the game world of pen and Paper design companies, as his first game has published but he finds himself creatively unfulfilled.

In 1980 you may hire him for your game development.
