Not worth using cookies for the communication check. We would need them all over again for the mind delve check.

Me too - I only switched because I thought we could still contact Jaffur. I'm somewhat mollified by the fact that Sensei thinks we can't yet do it ourselves even with his help though.

Alas, no. He's not putting you anywhere near anybody's mind without you knowing how to make a proper go of it yourself. You'd need an action you haven't invested.

If it's any consolation, Sensei doing it was just the cherry on top of the option to bring him in yourself. You still accomplished that, and quite well.

Actually, I think that @PoptartProdigy was saying that Sensei wouldn't let us do it without taking a full action's worth to prepare for it, but I may be wrong about that.

Maybe? I figured that would be folded into Sensei's training with his help, but you might be right. The action being available was based on plans we'd made before getting an experienced Seer's input though. Either way, I was ultimately more concerned about being seen to have failed to uphold our part of the plan by the others; being able to say "Sensei says I can't yet" is good enough.

"Jaffur is a Super Saiyan, entirely justified in being paranoid, he doesn't know me, and my effective power level will be fifty. It is entirely likely that he'll vaporize me instantly upon entry."

Roughly, at least.
Can't remember if it's been mentioned, but would Jaffur trust Sensei? He doesn't know Sensei, or that we are a Seer (and his apprentice). Although it's not like he has much other choice.
As far as I can tell, the only people he trusts are the Senzu's (and possibly Kakara).
Called it. Sadly too late to do anything about it. Hopefully next year, or this year if we free up an action somehow.

Just to clarify, this is us recruiting him and then immediately going "hey Sensei, howsabout one of us mind delves Jaffur now that you're on board with the Plan", and him going "hell no, kid, you've got like a year of training to go before that's even on the table", yeah?

What if exactly half of them are? I only ask because if we reach Exceptional Multiform this year, we'll have 4 bodies maximum.

Then the fight is probably proceeding poorly. :lol

But in seriousness, it means that you're sore but not outright injured.

That and trying to sell him on doing it.

Probably. But there are no actions left for it.

Which might be just as well, as I'm pretty sure waiting until next turn to contact Jaffur would have been the better idea anyway. If we had done poorly in our "learn mind projection" roll this year, we would have been hosed on that front anyway... worse actually, since we would have wasted at least a whole action. (The actual projection action, plus whatever percentage we fell short of managing to get the skill required... which would have forced us into taking the mind projection again next round.) It's one of the reasons why I originally picked Sucal's plan and it's removal and replacement was the reason I switched over to Deathbybunnies.

I still have to ask though, @PoptartProdigy: how likely would someone else in the conspiracy have been to bring the idea of Sensei doing it up if we hadn't? Surely there would have been one hot-headed member of Clan Senzu who would have thought "why wait when we have a fully trained seer right now," right?

Also, since we apparently succeeded "quite well" at bringing Sensei in to the conspiracy, I have to ask how much of that was down to a good roll, how much of it was down to difficulty level and how much was because we ourselves decided to make the approach?

And to kick things right off: any legacy cookie holders (check the cookie jar under "Omake Rewards" on the Rules Screen threadmark) may wish to declare for the Communication check to talk Sensei Carrick into Projecting into Jaffur if they're invested in the action's success. 'Cause I just rolled it, and y'all need 'em. Requires an investment of three to pass.

I'm holding out for Tenshinhan style.

Somebody would have. This, again, is Kakara seizing the initiative.

Bringing him in was an automatic success, and you'll see why when I write the update containing this option. The quality of that success was dependent on a very easy roll which you absolutely aced.

I figured that he almost certainly was already completely aware of what we were trying to do, though this is a nice reassurance. He Saw us become Lady Goku, he probably wouldn't have missed Lord Jaffur.
All shall be revealed with time.

Alright! Somebody roll me a d12. No particular reason, just felt like it would serve me best if this roll were out in the open and on all of your hands rather than mine.
