Hopefully, this is an exception.
@PoptartProdigy, my worry is that Kakara will do something else so ridiculously impressive - and probably unexpected, like mastering Spirit Saiyan - that we unlock a third possible Sensing talent, and have no way to get all of them. Saying that any such event will unlock something different, that doesn't conflict with the Talent limit, would ease my mind a great deal. Was that your intention all along?
You might unlock additional ones, and yes, some may be out of reach. You will have to make a choice.

-[X] Invent a Style (2 AP): Devise something to make better use of what you want and what you have.
-[X] Research Project (1 AP) Ki Overcharge: Learn Taro's trick as well as possible. Perhaps he's training people back home, but if not, he's certainly told Apra a lot.
-[X] Improve a Skill (1 Cause AP) Ki Refinement: You already know this is part of Jaffur's style, and it's useful on its' own.
-[X] To Go Beyond (1 Free AP) Perfect Multiform: Scry on Cell's version to see if it has any final insights to offer. Then complete the technique.
-[X] Improve a Skill (1 Free AP) Spirit Saiyan: Train this up as much as possible, given that it's your trumpcard. Special focus on figuring out how to use it while Masqued.
-[X] Strengthen Host Bond (1 AP)

Thanks to @Deathbybunnies for the improvements this time; namely the name and the sidenote in Multiform training. I think scrying on Cell would be a pretty neat detail to cap this project off, while not being such a big event as to cost an entire seprate AP.

High points of this plan in particular:

Gets to work on building our own style. Tenshinhan isn't bad, but I think nine months worth of AP will give better results, even playing catchup, than the same investment in Tenshinhan. (Remember, Tenshinhan's only major situational bonus is getting to spend life energy, and it has no built-in support for Refinement, Overcharge, Precog, lightning psionics, or anything else we come across. Or for fighting nonlethally, really.)

Picks a bunch of synergistic stuff, including a probable gamechanger (Ki Overcharge). I'm quite hopeful that grabbing Overcharge and Refinement at the same time will unlock a Control talent, given that we're already at Exceptional, but perhaps I'm being too optimistic.

Our ability to beat Haila presently depends on our ability to overpower him, which kind of needs Spirit Saiyan. Figuring out how to use that while Masqued would, thus, be incredibly useful.

We'll get some good team dialogue, and bonding time with the first person Kakara's ever met who's likely to really get her. Whatever wins, I really want to see her bond with Snare.

I. Um. This is incredibly stressful for me, and the sort of thing I leave Quests over. Is it possible to bypass via think-tank?

While I respect your right to your own preferences, and sincerely do not wish you any stress, please consider that having meaningful and mutually-exclusive choices can be considered to constitute good game design in a medium where choice-making is the primary form of gameplay. Given the discussion so far I find it likely that this is not an accident or oversight on Poptart's part.

I. Um. This is incredibly stressful for me, and the sort of thing I leave Quests over. Is it possible to bypass via think-tank?
I'm not sure why it's so stressful for you. Please explain further.

On my end: Elite Talents, particularly when paired with Legendary Talents, are incredibly potent. Balancing the system while including the full effect of unlimited Talents would be nigh-impossible. There needs to be a limit; in this case, this is the limit. You can learn talents from other people who put in the work, but I want there to be a limit on how many things in a given field Kakara, personally, can develop. Trust me, this is for the health of the system.

I am and always will be an advocate of 'choices aren't meaningful if you can just write-in Take It All and have it work'. I am beyond merely fine with the idea we cannot merely clever our way around having to actually decide things.

It is exactly that kind of thing I vastly prefer to see in quests. It is toxic and unfun when enough omakes or cleverly worded arguments or what have you can be used to make the protagonist more and more overpowered without ever having to think about priorities. I avoid quests with that kinda dynamic and am glad to see assurance that Kakara cannot become infinitely, omni diversely amazing until we have erased the very idea of having a character rather than an endless list of unrelated abilities and accomplishments.

Personally, I just want to take the Leadership feat and get highly skilled minions to learn elite talents for us. Put those talking skills to work!

Just a note to people - the vote tally is mangling plans a little bit, so you might want to actually go and look up the plans rather than relying on what the vote tally says. Mine is literally including a line from someone else's plan, and a couple of them are missing at least one line.

I'm not sure why it's so stressful for you. Please explain further.
Build votes without comprehensive data are a huge source of anxiety for me, because there's really no way to be sure you're even making a good choice, let alone the best one available. There's just a big box that you can't see and may punish you for guessing. I don't need that kind of abuse in my life.
(They also seem to be fairly contentious, if Rihaku quests are an indication.)

I don't know if this helps any, but you could abstain from votes involving elite talent selection. We have a couple right now in perfect multiform (already chosen) and the machine sense/all is one choice we're probably making either this turn or soon after, and then it'll likely be a while before we have another elite talent choice to make, so you'd only be skipping an occasional vote. If those particular decisions are stressful and unenjoyable for you, it might help to just not have them in your hands.

Or it might not, I dunno.

When playing a computer game, or a board game, or in any system that does not change in response to the players, yes a certain level of optimisation is essential to success.

But in a quest, or in a pen and paper game, the QM can respond to the choices we make. They can scale the challenges we face, present opportunities relevant to our interests, and use storytelling to turn our missteps into, well, interesting and satisfying stories. My favourite example of this as I mentioned previously is Poptart's interview arc, and how our social skills have relevant and interesting screen time.
In a quest, we do not have to optimise for a chance at success. We just need to engage in telling the story, and enjoy what comes out. No matter the choice we make, I trust that we will not be punished for accepting one of the QM's offers.

This too though. Take care of yourself, and don't let your hobbies stress you out. (o^_^)b

Edit: another example, we completely failed at taking down Dandeer! Absolutely, 100%, LOST. BADLY. And yet here we are! Exploring New Namek, making friends, maybe finding old family, collecting wishes from dragons, and telling such a great story I am almost glad we lost control of our body to a frightened, delusional, overly powerful witch!
Great storytelling. (Although, Poptart? If I was to give (hopefully) concrit on anything it would be Dandeer and villain construction, but not today.)

so, I asked for an example for legendary talents on Discord, just to get an idea of how much different/better they are than elite talents.

I WAS going to ask for a kamehameha example, but someone else decided to go with something more interesting :p

so, here it is!

Legendary Dancing Talent: Tough Crowd. Your performances can bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses with deceptive grace. You may use your Dancing skill to attract an audience even while locked in combat, with your opponents as your target. On a success, your opponents must stop what they're doing and stare, enraptured, giving you one combat exchange at a massive advantage, which you may use for any purpose, be that attack or withdrawal. Enemies who have recently seen you exploit this talent cannot be thusly targeted again, but you retain the benefits of the, "Deceptive Steps," talent, and may use your full skill to catch them off-guard with your performances.

Also a small list of all known and presumed people with elite talents on Garenhuld.

Kakara will soon have Perfect Multiform.

Jaffur: Ki refinement. possibly more, we don't know.

Tabe: his overcharge.

Berra Goku, Kakara's father: Super Kaioken and an Instant Transmission elite talent that apparently allows him to force teamfightings into dueling.

Kakara's mother, Kala Goku: elite teaching (got it confirmed on DIscord)

Dandeer: she's obviously an elite or legendary sorceress

Yammar: unconfirmed, but I can see him not having at least a skill or two at elite.

Bulma: the old lady from the tournament. She's dead now, but she definitely qualified.

Papata Fren: elite talent in communications that allows her to get more informations from the ones she talks to (as long as they talk back)

Possibly Dandelor (probably the most skilled exile mage beside Dandeer) and Apra Goku (the matriarch), though that's just my speculation.

On the other end of the scale, I'm a firm believer that if the players come up with a genuinely clever plan, especially one the QM hasn't thought of, it should be allowed to work. Or fail, if it makes sense that it would fail! On the other hand, you shouldn't be setting up the players for such situations deliberately, and if it keeps happening you need to raise the difficulty of your challenges accordingly. Reward your players for their creativity without letting them get away with nonsense.

Rampant Omake bonuses are terrible, though.

Erm. While I do not wish to relitigate past mistakes or anything... we do kind of need to optimize for success. It's entirely possible our past defeats could have been victories. But they weren't, because we didn't optimize sufficiently.

However, where I agree with you is that our build was not the source of optimization failure, and is unlikely to be in the future.

I personally separate 'Kakara's success'/'MC success' from 'reader success'. Optimising does help Kakara to succeed, and of course I want to see her succeed! But even if she fails, that doesn't mean the readers have to fail, because the *story* can succeed even if the MC is having a rough time of it.
Overall what I am trying to say is that success is great, but don't spend your time fearing failure.

Hey @PoptartProdigy , I recall that previously we chose to do our training actions in our Human and Saiyan Masques, in order to get used to them passively. Would it be possible to do the same thing with Ki Refinement? And separately, would it be possible to do that with Ki Overdrive - set ourselves at half power or less, and have it running as hard as we can maintain it passively?

If not, would we be able to do it at higher skill levels, or are the techniques inherently unsuited to it?

I think we were told that as of right now ki overdrive is an all or nothing thing. We can only use it at full power, no chance to take being weaker with it.

Maybe it will become possible once we get Better at it.

Actually do we even know it?

Apparently we don't! I could have sworn we had it at Unlearned, but maybe I was thinking of Ki Refinement. I'll have to think about what this means for my plan.

EDIT: Having searched the thread for comments about Overdrive by Poptart, I see no indication that it's an all-or-nothing skill.

I've also decided to stick with training Ki Overdrive, switching it to a New Skills action with a note to use a vision if Kakara thinks it would help:
--[] New Skills (1 AP) [Ki Overdrive] Use a vision if Kakara thinks it would be helpful.

[X] Plan Deathbybunnies

edit: I vote for it because there no Ki Sense trainings. I hope next turn we can try to use Sight to find potencially teachers for AiO or MS (maybe androids?). And then choose an option that is harder to find teachers for our own research.

Gohan does that in the Dragon Ball Super anime. He was fighting a wolf man whose ki he couldn't sense and the wolf had used a poisonous ki technique to blind Gohan.
"He was fighting a wolf man whose ki he couldn't sense and the wolf had used a poisonous ki technique to blind Gohan."?
"He was fighting a wolf man whose ki he couldn't sense" o_O?!
"man whose ki he couldn't sense" :D!
Hey, @Deathbybunnies! We can into Ki Stealth! Probably, the failure happened due to a poor roll and/or lack of necessary knowledge.
Or that guy used some (probably magical) thing. How strong been he, by the way?
Anyway, I think we should use Sight to see "ways to hide large volumes of ki during the battle" or something like that. Maybe "portable" and/or "without magic".

For me, if MC fails because questers not put everything they can to ensure MC's success - every but of optimisation, creativity, cunning, brutality and all other thing we can - it is questers failure.

If we intend for Kakara to develop her own fighting style, I'd actually suggest figuring out the techniques for it and then training them instead of the Tenshinhan style ones.

The techniques I'd expect for a Kakara style would be something like: Solar Flare, Multiform (Perfect), Team Fighting, Combat Precognition, and perhaps some variant of Hellzone Grenade or Spirit Ball, and Spirit Bomb, while providing a bonus to nonlethal combat.
e:
A series of queries that I cannot recall if it's been answered before: Can Kakara's multiforms use Sight? How about Combat Precognition? To help someone else (as described in the Combat Precognition blurb)? Multiple of them using Precog at the same time?
