"The super-woman, Shego. You will offer yourself as an ally against the inventor Syndrome," she stated confidently, pointing toward the screen deliberately.
Xanatos leaned forward with a grin. "Interesting choice. And what makes you so sure?"
"You seek allies that you can exploit, as ever, Xanatos. The most prudent choice would be to aid the enhanced humans, it would not be your first endeavor in manipulating a dying race. The mechanical ones would be unlikely to ally with a human, the scientist is unreliable, the masked man too unpredictable, and the man of Detroit too quick to betray and grasp control. The only choices left are the inventor and the super-woman, of which the super-woman is the easier target for you."
The businessman nodded approvingly, but interrupted it quickly.
"I'm afraid you picked quite the opposite target, Demona, I intend to join forces with Syndrome against Shego."
Demona breathed another irritated sigh. "You are impossible, Xanatos, I made the best choice from your information, you would have done the same!"
"The problem was that you decided based on given information. You did not look for additional factors that might have tipped the scale, anything unsaid. Tell me, was it technology that brought the Wyvern Clan back to life?"
"Of course not, human technology is incapable of such feats. It is magic," she grumbled.
"And was it technology that solidified my empire?"
"No, it was magic."
"That's right, more magic." Xanatos gestured back to the screen. "Do any of these leaders look as though they use magic?"
Demona eyed the screen for a half-moment. "No, they use technology."
"Correct again, Demona. Magic is what will trump all of their technology."
"Then why choose the inventor, Xanatos? He relies on technology more than all save the machine-men," Demona asked, grappling with frustration once more.
"Because my scouts discovered an interesting spot on the border between Syndrome's territory and Yokai's. The region is a hotbed of cryptids and strange phenomena, completely unnatural and too far-removed to be linked to technology. The Oregon Triangle, the locals call it, and it has been largely ignored by the magic-ignorant technocrats. To gain access to the area without drawing notice, I need to ally with either Syndrome or Yokai, and given the choice between an egomaniac and an unknown wild card, Syndrome is the obvious best ally. By devoting troops to the borders with DrakkTech-controlled regions, I think he'll let me have a small tour in return. He is an easy man to pander to, provided we keep a facade of subtlety."
