I hate doing so, but I will probably vote for letting him go. We're already having hero cap issues, his loyalty and morale are in the tank, and he is clearly at a critical point in his journey. I recommend giving him a goodbye gift, a letter of reference, and the promise that he can return at any time he desires. Poor man deserves a vacation after this mess.

One final thought: if he tells us that he was a failure, ask him if the Flynn-Fletcher siblings would agree. If nothing else, he saved the lives of Candace, Phineas and Ferb. And if he thinks that was nothing...then he needs to ask himself why he wants to be a hero to begin with. Because it meant everything to them.

[X] Hego resigns from DEI
-[X] Give him a nice severance package, a letter of recommendation, an open invitation to return if he ever wants to do so and finally a going-away party with all employees invited

I like the Gordon Ramsey expy. Unlike Roddy, he did not just scream his head off at him. He actually took time to explain on what to improve. It reminded me of when All Might subtly told Deku he needs to come into his own hero and not just be All Might Jr.. With Hego's costume and powers, you can infer he took inspiration from Mr. Incredible. I know Hego can be an awesome hero. He has the powers, experience, right attitude, and mindset. Him leaving is probably the best for him.

I suspect Roddy would have been a lot more constructive with his criticism had he not been literally mustache twirlingly evil at the time.

As for Hego himself, as I see it it's a question of whether DEI, and all the trappings thereof, is holding him back.

could even pacifie him on his opinion of DEI

...Right, with all the stuff surrounding Kats invasion and Hegos failing heroism career, I totally forgot that we still had Gordon Ramsay (let´s be honest, we all know who he is supposed to be aside from the name) trying to revamp BN coming around... Let´s see what we have here:

...Well, that happened.

Honestly? Ned deserved everything Gordon threw at him (including those martial arts moves at the end) with his ridiculously arrogant and conceited behaviour - that guy could rival Amy from that one Kitchen Nightmare episode in terms of "Holier than thou" attitude.

I was honestly afraid that Ramsay would just throw in the towel and "bolt" after witnessing the absolute shitshow that is Bueno Nacho, but fortunately he was able to see that at least Hego genuinely wanted to help out and was simply too caught-up in his obsession of "doing things by the book" to be effective at it.

...that actually neatly mirrors his problems with Heroism as well - nice detail there.

Anyway, Ramsay actually did what we asked him to do and managed to turn BN from the Greasy Spoon to end all Greasy Spoons into a genuinely *passable* fast-food joint without dying from the sheer stress involved.

...Now we just have to bang the drums of advertisement about the "new and improved BN" to finally get something outta that purchase economically - because let´s be honest, until now BN logistically speaking has to have caused a huge net loss for DEI just by existing within the wider coroporate mesh.

Of course, first we need sacrifice our Stew options for repairing the damage to our turf by Kat and the turn after that we can at least *think* about revamping BN properly.

As for Hegos problem:

It'll be like a better company retreat, and it might give Hego a little pick-me-up before heading out into the world

I really would have liked him to stay and become a true hero, but by now trying to force it would be a prime example of the "Sunk Cost Fallacy" - so yeah, we let him go, throw him a nice party as thanks and then move on with no hard feelings on either side.

I suspect Roddy would have been a lot more constructive with his criticism had he not been literally mustache twirlingly evil at the time.

Dunno, even while being "EVIL" Roddy had some very good points - even though he literally had to go about it the "Red Death vs. Blind Rage" way

So, I'm sad that Hego's come to this? but honestly? Lets let Hego go. We've already had difficult to manage preferences with Lovemuffin. Hego was an absolutely worthwhile hero back when we started, but we've grown apart.

We have better heroes in every category now.

Hego's our 4th best martial hero (28, tied with Jumba, who is 5th best). Our 9th worth Diplo hero (at 11; Tied with Alan, our 8th worst). Our 13th best Stewardship hero (what we used him most for! at 18). Our second word Intrigue Hero (at 3, just ahead of Norm at 1. Tied with LOVEMUFFIN when they left). Our second worst Learning hero (5, tied with Tobe at 3rd worst. No wonder he never learns from his mistakes). and he lacks an occult score.

We're at a point where we're running up against the hero cap. This is a blessing in disguise. Let's let Hego make his own way in the world.

I don't think we should invite Hego to return. He doesn't want to return. Hego and DEI are not compatible in the least. To me it's just adding insult into injury.

Hego needs to move on from the cascade of failures that was his time working as one of our hero units. Hopefully he'll be able to forge his own path.

So, I talked to WereDrago on discord. He believes, but is not certain, that Hego resigning from DEI keeps him on at Bueno nacho.

This isn't 100% confirmed yet though. We still need to ask MiH.

For me, it's a courtesy to show Hego that there are no hard feelings on our part. I've had the same experience at a couple of jobs, and just knowing that the employer thought well of me took the sting out of needing to resign in the first place.

That could be a nice interlude, or Omake.

Yeah, DEI isn't the place for Hego it seems. Not when he's in this state. Bolton was a totally cool dude though.

"Oh, because your 'Bueno Nacho Way' got you so far before. Let's see. Voted least popular chain in the nation twelve years running, dealing with financial difficulties since '94, and that tiny problem of every other branch getting shut down. The only ones who care about your fucking 'Bueno Nacho Way' are probably off in Cuba with whatever money they grabbed before the feds hit."
Huh, interesting that the Bueno Nacho management fled to Cuba of all places when the feds it (or at least, is seem as a place for them to run in the realm of memes and pop culture). It's traditionally unfriendly to rich Americans. Is Cuba less communist/more open to Americans in this DVV world? Or are the culinary crimes of the management so severe that anyone with any sort of friendship with the Yanks would just send them back, and the only places that would even remotely tolerate them are the USA's sworn enemies?
