ENCOM
[ ] Release AI assistants
DC 120

Unprecedented Critical Success
ENCOM continues to be a thorn in our side. We *need* a way to check them like how all the other "normal" Kings check each other. No idea how to do decisively manage that, though. Nat 100s are Nat 100s, of course, no way around that, but it'd be nice to have a Rival Report that isn't "more and more of DoofOS is hacked/rendered obsolete".

Gonna have to double down on the digital front if we don't want to get booted from it entirely, it appears. Looks like we're stuck in action economy hell for the time being.

Might want to get started on this action train soon, given it'll take a while to complete.

The Flip-Flap-Flim-Flam-Googly-Moogly, Xanatos?!

You *just* told us "Oh yeah man, gotta keep that Masquerade up. Can't let it fall. Great thing, that Masquerade." and then you pull a stunt like this?!

Whhhhyyyyyy.

We could've been planning our magic school, dagnabbit.

Gosh darn it, if we had just rolled higher than a *16*.

Still, nothing to do but wait for the interludes. Things are rarely as bad as Rival Reports would lead you to believe, and given that's been confirmed true this time as well, I'm fine with stuff.

Although it has cemented my desire to not give out warnings about the Probabilitator-Inator, because if Xanatos can mess with the Masquerade without telling us we can mess with the laws of physics without telling him.

This is looking to be pretty essential next turn, put the Dickens on it, and with a good enough success we could get some decent leverage over Doom, enough that we could put an end to that monster.
A good enough success? Remember, the Probabillinator makes ALL successes critical. If we do it next turn...Russ, you ready to become unfireable?

The SRA, which has been nigh-universally reviled for many years, reaching an absolute fever pitch this election year, bolstered in its hatred by Glomgold's accidental Critical Failure ... is pretty unpopular. Martinez was the candidate most publicly in favor of repealing it. This public promise of repeal earned him a +30 boost at running for the United States of America.

Xanatos giving him public and open support gave him ten points more.

Holy shit, Xanay.

In any case, it looks like we know why Hawk's death wasn't immediately exposed. Doom clearly spent quite a bit of effort framing Bobcat. The only real.question though, is if Clever is actually working for Doom,as opposed to just nominally working for Doom. Depending on the answer, that might affect the DC for investigating Hawk's death ourselves.

I am rather curious though: wasn't the Phantom Blot suppose to leave a parting "gift" for Doom? Or is that next turn?

Cleaver is a Toon, so he's probably not a fan of Doomsy-boy, but, well, Doom is his employer, and he's loyal to nothing if not the law.

Lets mess with people and in a way about no one can figure out. Also we need to get into the cyber world and get things up. But also need to get those transmissions working. Also Karnage works for Khan, I think we can turn away from working with him, instead get access to Shegos power tech instead. Also hammer Investigate Hawk.

I just know what my priorities are: finally start on the Drossel train, start dealing with those cybugs, and searching out Kat. I'll probably vote for any plan that has those.

So, I don't think we really need to do anything in terms of changing our strategy beyond having CJ look into DoofOS and the Detective agency look into Hawk?

With that said, it's pretty clear that Collab Actions do incredible things! We really should collab with someone soon.

Hmm...as I recall, succeeding on a Collaborate action "just" opens up a lost of possibilities, with the better the degree of success, the better the options are...for "us", at least. Perhaps we should try to Reach out to sometiger and Collaborate with Xanatos or Drakktech next turn?

I think reaching out to Shego to collaborate against the drug cartel would be a good move. She'd be genuinely appreciative of it, I think, and they are becoming more dangerous as time goes on.

Does Xanay have any coders in his employ? We could always collab with him to decode the transmissions if we really want that action done.

So may be wrong but the fact they turn to stone during the day seems pretty magical to me
Actually, apparently the basic stone sleep is somewhat biological, in that it allows them to gather solar/thermal energy for sustenance. The magic part about that is how all their stuff turns to stone with them. That was caused by a wizard hopped up on three incredibly powerful magical artifacts on behalf of an emperor with strong opinions on modesty.

Theoretically, we could do the Corporate Espionage to set up a network of people to send us corporate information from inside ENCOM. Alan might also have a similar network if we get his Loyalty up enough for him to reveal his secrets. Mirage has a similar thing with Olympia after all.
So may be wrong but the fact they turn to stone during the day seems pretty magical to me
That was explained earlier as also being some biological thing in regards to a chemical and them having a kind of pseudo-photosynthesis where they get energy during the day. I think that was it. Never seen Gargoyles myself so I only have a loose grasp on what's been said here.

Seeing the thread's mood switch from 'We're on a roll!' to 'OH NO WE'RE FUCKED WAH WAH WAH' was rather amusing. But you know what was even more amusing? Arathnorn smacking the salty with the 'Newspaper Roll of Common Sense(tm)'!

Drakktech (1)
[ ] Release microfusion cells
DC 150
71+24+28+36+30(???)=189
Spectacular Success

Ongoing collaborations with Khan Industries have resulted in the creation of the Microfusion cell, a revolutionary energy storage device that uses a miniaturized and reversible fusion process to store immense amounts of energy in devices as small as a vehicle engine. The devices promise to massively simplify energy chains, making both fusion power and renewables more practical as well as providing near-limitless backup power once installed. Industry experts are describing the new tech as nothing short of miraculous, with many speculating how Shego and the Tiger of Cape Suzette managed such an incredible technological leap. Drakktech has expressed hope the devices can be miniaturized further.

Khan Industries (1)
[ ] Offer to build fusion plants in California and Nevada
DC 100

Respectable Success

After months of meetings with the FERC, Khan Industries has taken multiple contracts to build their new revolutionary power plants near major metropolitan areas. Several major cities have taken the offer, greatly reducing their need for fossil fuel or other sources of power… as well as greatly increasing profits for Khan himself.

Richard Martinez (1)

Outstanding Success

The presidential elections wrapped up this year with Richard Martinez taking the lead by a comfortable margin, having secured quite a lot of votes due to his stance on the hottest issue of the season- the Superhero Relocation Act. Martinez has promised to repeal the act as soon as he is able and implement a far more moderate program in its place, offering funding to government-sponsored heroes once again as well as schooling for up and coming heroes. With the honeymoon period in full swing and public opinion in his favor, it seems likely his plans will come to fruition.

ENCOM (2)
[ ] Release AI assistants
DC 120
100+56+58+34+8+15 (???)=271
Unprecedented Critical Success

ENCOM made international headlines with their successful release of their new AI assistant utilizing patented Personal Applied Technology able to predict consumer needs with unerring accuracy. Known as 'Pat', the technology was originally designed to be utilized in smart houses, but the digital assistant is versatile enough to be used on personal computers across the country. While the AI is not able to pass the Turing test, numerous reports indicate that it is very close, and can even hold a reasonable conversation with a user. Bakaemono Corp has offered their congratulations and expressed public interest in collaboration on projects in the future.

Chief Cleaver (3)
[ ] Investigate the death of Alonso Hawk
DC ???
72+28+24+4=128
Great Success

The discovery of Alonso Hawk, noted land magnate, dead on Franklin Avenue has sent shockwaves throughout Southern California. Recently promoted Chief Cleaver launched an investigation into the death of Alonso Hawk and, after several weeks of intense police work, came up with a conclusion he is absolutely certain of. The murder was done by a toon! The method of death was simply too absurd for anyone else to have accomplished it. After some more investigation into who was near the Hollywood Hotel at the time of death, the chief realized something rather unfortunate. Only one figure had both the motive to attack the known ally of Mayor Doom and the means with which to commit it. A sample of hair was found at the scene, there is no alibi, and the truth is clear. The perpetrator was none other than ex-chief Bonkers Bobcat! Having checked the evidence multiple times, this is something of which Cleaver was certain!

You however… have doubts.

Judge Doom (3)

DC 120

Decent Success

Judge Doom, utilizing a portion of Cloverleaf's pre-existing public works infrastructure, has established an organization dedicated to damage control and cleaning up after metahuman fights, in the interest of taking financial burdens off of superheroes. While the gesture is expected to cut into his bottom line, it has also engendered a good deal of respect from the metahuman community and its supporters. Doom said in a prepared and archetypically creepy press conference that "It pains me that the fickle Dr. Doofenshmirtz couldn't find it in his heart to assist in a charitable endeavor such as this. Alas, it seems as if the superhero community has moved… outside of his interests."

Bakaemono Corp (1)
[ ] Diversify Overseas
DC 120

Spectacular Success

Bakaemono has taken efforts to increase the sphere of influence of the Zaibatsu overseas, bringing in companies such as Yao Federated from Hong Kong and Bushido Dynamics in Japan into the fold. Pacific shipping is predicted to increase over the coming months as new supply lines are established and major electronics providers align product lines.

[ ] Sokyo Capes Attacked by 'Monsters'
DC N/A

Your newly established reports from San Fransokyo have it that recent months have seen an increasing number of attacks by what survivors have described as 'monsters' ranging from flying bat-creatures to some sort of electric snake. A handful of disappearances are presumed related. The 'monsters' seem to target only Capes, but what if any pattern exists beyond that is unclear. This isn't very relevant to you right now, but if you wish to have more to do with California at a later date, this seems like something you'd want to look into.

DoofOS has been acting up again, with users reporting glitches left and right as well as corrupted, if not outright missing, files. The incident has led to a small, but still noticeable, migration of users from DoofOS back to other systems. You're either going to need to patch whatever these holes are or find some other solution quick, unless you want people abandoning your system in droves. Maybe you could get your AI to do it?

1) We can ignore all of this, because they're not actions done by our enemies. Good going rivals!
2) I thought this was some attempt by MCP to interact more literally with the User world, but it turns out this is a Disney Movie. Huh.
3) 'Who Framed Bonkers Bobcat', coming to cinemas near you. Well, now we know what one of our next turn Intrigue actions will be. And I must grudgingly admit, getting a crit success on that would be very helpful. Also Doom calls us a loser, who ducking cares, we didn't get a PR hit so don't get salty. From Hamilton's Off-Broadway song Congratulations: "You know why Jefferson can do what he wants? He doesn't dignify schoolyard taunts with a response!" --Angelica Schuyler.
4) Interesting little rumor. Probably something we might take if we get either Juniper or Fredzilla.
5) Kat and Candy respectively. I really hope CJ rolls well. As for Kat, ugh, I guess this might be more reasonable for spying on employees. You better not send Monogram again though!
6) Drossel! We should get started on that.
7) Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
8) He saw the floating castle just...sitting out there! What was he going to do, not attack it? Still, Bare Success to our Spectacular one. He managed to get his foot in the door but whether he leaves successful remains to be seen~.
9) "HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO TEACH YOU THIS LESSON OLD MAN?"

I'm still not voting for any plans that don't have Dino Entertainment and Large Herbivore Domestication. Instead of just reacting and overreacting because a few rivals were successful in doing their own things, let's try to stick to our guns for once? It's Crit turn up next, so we can't just go after the big boy DCs willy nilly. The only things that actually affected us were Kat and Candy. Doom didn't attack us, MCP certainly doesn't care about us, and Toffee is still busy playing 'Chess-checkers: Monopoly edition' with Phobos.

On the bright side, this gives me more time to hash out a hopefully-canon omake I have planned...

Those dice are a spy! Treason! Betrayal! I expected a comfy quest, but instead I've gotten survival horror in CK2 form! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Really though, I AM a little salty that NOT A SINGLE ONE of our rivals rolled a failure.

Also wasn't the Probabiblity-nator supposed to kick in?

It does really feel like we're being smacked down for starting things and not pressing on temporary advantages.
Yeah, it does feel like we never concentrated on a single avenue. While Khan is constantly working on Fusion and ENCOM is working on their OS 24/7, we ping-pong from project to project without any major breakthrough.
