Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Let's see here. We have at least a chapter as every group will arrive. Then do we have a chapter talking about the ABB. Then what Apeiron's intentions are. Then Undersider's territory grab like Khepri accidentally did. Then new players introduces themself and stating that they have no intentions towards the city but a few things. These players include The Dragonslayers and Lost Garden. Then miscellaneous stuff. There must be other things I have forgotten. Then after their discussion, everyone wants to have a piece of Apeiron. This includes invites from Uppercrust and Faultline. After the talk Gully might be able to sneak a request to Apeiron outside the bar. She might not be able to go in there but she might be able to request healing outside and try to catch him as he walks away.

This is just 6-9 chapters alone. So I'll place my bet on 9 chapters this meeting with about a total of 100k words.

What do you mean by false vacuum decay perk?
That particular mine is called Strong Spark. Once Joe steps on it, the world never will be the same and he is going to freak out.
Fortunately it's somewhat countered by some of the perks (ex: efficiency is somewhat opposed to straight insanity, some perks improve focus, a perk that enforces 'value of life' understanding), but it also synergizes too well with some.

But I think there is another potential one in capstones.

P.S. Apeiron smiled and Kaiser felt his back start to sweat, something primal urged him to freeze, for that smile... that smile was insanity.

TL;DR: Strong Spark makes you into a stereotypical "mad scientist", so Joe will become exactly what the PRT is afraid of as soon as he rolls the perk. (Sparks can take measures to mitigate their impulse control problems and mania, and Joe's other abilities will be a great help in that respect, but his Spark nature will still be another mental health issue for him to be mindful of in the future.)

That.. math doesn't seem right... for 9 chapters shouldn't that be about 160k? At least?

But I think there is another potential one in capstones.

There are so many everywhere. But yes, in capstones besides the obvious 800 pt ones, that would be Matrix of Leadership, which comes accompanied by Fanfare and makes him super charismatic. Also, much more buff, but people should be used to that.

Inventor from Futurama is also a mad scientist perk, just one a bit more mellow than Strong Spark. There are even two or three more that could be interpreted that way.

I still think the most hilarious would be Pagan Science, and Jozef being too distracted to disable all the music, so suddenly thematic music starts playing whenever someone does/says something interesting during the meeting. Maybe
starts playing whenever Coil or Kaiser try to speak, or Damsel of Distress so much as twitches?

Most apparently, the plastic party mask was gone, replaced by what looked to be a carefully sculpted and embroidered half-mask covering the top of her face. It resembled a German Shepard, of some similar breed, with the tones of the 'fur' extending through the rest of her costume. A pilot jacket with fur at the cuffs and collar, fingerless gloves, and pants and boots that looked to be carefully fitted rather than thrown on.
Don't quite remember if someone else caught this, but shouldn't that "of" be "or"? I'm not exactly certain, but "or" seems to make more sense in context.

I find it a bit hilarious that Rachel and Alec are the calmest of the group right now. Alec cause he's been in the cape game for a long time, and Rachel cause she operates like a dog.
Because he was broken. Or he had been broken for so long that when Joe fixed things he pulled everything out of alignment. You adjust to walking a corked trail and then someone decides to straighten it and you can't find your footing anymore.
Weirdly, Rachel seemed to be in the most stable place. Sure, she didn't like owing a mid-sized fortune to Joe, but she seemed to accept he wasn't going to raid her snack fund and would keep making with the new toys. She also had pulled something from seeing Joe in that monster transformation that she felt was frustratingly obvious to the point where she couldn't even explain it to the rest of them.

When Bitch was the high water mark you knew things were bad.

I think it would be neat if Apeiron made designer cocktails or horderves for the meeting, but that might be too subordinate of an act for the image he's going for. And it would be funny watching the body language of all the villains internally panic debating whether to accept the gesture. Like they would be worried about their image if they got brocolli stuck in their teeth or something.

Speaking of charisma Strong Spark could be interpreted to be as well, for those familiar with Girl Genius it's a common fact that sparks can talk just about anyone into going along with their experiments, a Strong Spark can do even better than that.

Inventor is based on the professor so maybe a little bit? He does regularly send Fry and them on dangerous runs for his experiments as well.

First rule of bio-tinkers, don't accept food from them.
Let the bar, bar.

Idea for conversation: If Joe wanted to give a tiny token gift to everyone present in the meeting, something like his card that he gave once but with something else, a tiny party favor.

What could he gift that couldn't be misconstrued as an attempt of spying/brainwashing/whatever. Kinda like

"Here along with my business card everyone gets a small canteen that will produce unlimited, pure, drinking water at the rate of 20cm3 per second when drank or poured"

What could he attempt to give away, and how would it be misconstrued by those attending and with paranoid minds (read almost everyone not on his neutral or good side)

Then I guess that mental image will just have to live rent free in my head.
Trust me, now that the 100 point perk well is all dried up, practically any roll will cause Joe to tense up and wrack his brain over the implications, which will look like a 'strategy trance'.

Which will be all it takes for some to dive under their tables. People are scared for real.

I'm imagining Joe trying to avoid panicking people because of one of his strategy trances by talking through it, but he starts talking about the power he just received and causes mass panic.

How I feel the events would go:
  • Everyone Arrives
  • Newbies explain their presence, to make sure no conflict arises (Blasto is just here to get Uber & Leet taken down, Dragonslayers here to fuck with Dragon, etc.)
  • Discussion of ABB remnants, perhaps?
  • The ABB's old territory/Dark Zone, Undersiders Territory? Claimed by Apeiron?
  • Further Apeiron discussion? Stances on gang activity? Teammates discussion?
  • Offers for private contract discussion from Uppercrust and Palanquin

Especially if he starts trancing after something dramatic.
Kaiser: You can't expect us to just accept such a claim, Aperion-
Apeiron: T R A N C E
Kaiser: FUCK!
I'm imagining Joe trying to avoid panicking people because of one of his strategy trances by talking through it, but he starts talking about the power he just received and causes mass panic.
Less extreme: after the first time, to avoid freaking people out, he just starts looking down and covering his eyes with a hand, which makes it look like he's got a headache and is a lot more concerning for the villains, because they simultaneously know more and less about what's going on. (Headache = brain stuff. Brain stuff = power stuff/personality stuff/etc. Constant headaches on a seeming biotinker and possible theoretical power-tinker already classified as a mad scientist? Who seemed to be super unstable in a fight a couple of days ago?)

EDIT: Now that I think about it, trances also make him lock up, which is why after fighting Uber and Leet, New Wave thought he was trancing intentionally once they showed up. Might not work as well as he hoped.

If Joe was more politically minded then he might focus on a universal cape convention such as the fight against the Endbringers.

There is already a powerful precedent for rival capes, heroes, villains, and government agencies uniting against the big universal threats. Plus, demonstrating awareness of and adherence to the Unwritten Rules as well as emphasizing the Truce would probably help to calm a few people.

So a "small" gift from Apeiron might be a protective device/talisman against a specific Endbringer. As Leviathan is next up on the attack roster, Joe could provide all summit attendees with an anti-Leviathan device which provides both elemental protection (compare to FFX's NulTide or Waterproof) and functions as an aquatic gill (similar to Batman's rebreather). Perhaps something collapsible/expandable similar to Star-Lord's helmet?

I like the implications of Apeiron casually demonstrating that he is focusing on combatting giant apocalypse-level threats while everyone around him is fighting a street-level gangfight.

Focusing on fighting the Endbringers should sooth some of the concerns of the Protectorate, PRT, and Cauldron.

Of course, Piggot would be freaking out that Apeiron had just provided all of the villainous capes of BB with free access to Protectorate ENE Headquarters.

Personal confession: I think Collapsible Helmets are awesome but impractical, with impracticality overruled thanks to the Rule of Cool.
Matt LeBlanc in Lost in Space, the various Ironman helmets, Star-Lord, Antman, Isaac Clarke in Dead Space, Mass Effect, etc.

Survey: Why have we never shown ourselves before? Analyses indicated that after the chaos of our leader's previous outing, our presence at this hotly contested meeting would be necessary to avoid unfavorable outcomes as caused by status-seeking emotions and irrational group behavior. Therefore, we took measures and prepared ourselves to safely join him in the field for the first time.
Fleet: SHE MEANS THAT WE'RE HERE SO YOU CAN'T GANG UP ON APEIRON

Matrix: The Enigmatic Artificer will not be subdued!
Tetra: Yeah! Leave Joe Alone!
Tattletale: Were those Infared Transmissions?
Lethe: Apeiron will not be beaten down!

By newbies I meant new arrivals, as in Blasto, Dragonslayers, etc. This is funny though.

Apeiron: "I do not need six hypemen."
Lethe: "You're right."
Apeiron: "I-I am?"
Lethe: "At least two of us are hypewomen, and one's a hype-cat, one's a hype-transformer..."
Apeiron, defeated: "Thus, bringing out the team for the first time."
Uppercrust: "And who could fault him? And such diversity on display! An all-inclusive fanbase."
Lethe: "Yeah! With Dragon we're even multi-national!"
Tybalt: "Meow."

Gregor nodded. Separate from the spectacle was the statement. A confirmation of support and connections. It was an open display of the strength of the Undersiders' position, their luxury of being the one group in the city who didn't need to worry about Apeiron. Honestly, he couldn't help but envy the stability they were able to enjoy.
I like how the perspective of the situation differs from each other.
Undersiders = "verge of nervous breakdown"
Everyone else = I envy the position of the Undersiders right now.
