Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Just read on the Riordan wiki that you can also "chant/sing the names and sounds of the runes (galdr) to cast spells."

More motivation for Joe to practice singing to improve his magic.

@Whamodyne Are you planning to update your timeline going forward?

YES! I have finally updated the timeline. Not even 24 hours have passed in story since I updated it last but yeah it's been a number of chapters.

Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

A minor background character from Worm gets access to a compounding series of Jumpchain crafting powers and is left to figure things out with nothing but the nature of his abilities and a vague connection to his passenger for guidance.

Joe's mom didn't cheat though, and nothing about the perk makes that retroactively true (as with fairy kidnapping and such). Joe is probably one of the only demigods around not to be the result of a relationship at all.
Post-jump? Yes. But during the jump, in the PJ world? That does make him a literal son of Hephaestus, afaik.
Well, maybe unless you chose "drop-in", and in that case I'd say the gods, if they'll find out you were born in legal marriage, more likely to freak the fuck out from your existence than anything else.

Is the cosmetic effect applied on everything he has done now? Joe made it sound like it applied to his body because he made it.
Guaranteed beauty of what you worked on extended to whatever portion of your own appearance was due to your own actions, and the blessing granted supermodel level looks, possibly for no other reason than the goddess of beauty tolerating nothing less.
Supermodel level looks, as you can see, is something that happening regardless anything else. So we can't be sure if there's any more effect than that in his appearance.
We shouldn't forgot about his posing pover too. And since posing is, kinda, "portion of your own appearance was due to your own actions", that receive the benefit too.
But I doubt it works retroactively.

What do you mean you guys don't think Danny Trejo super model level?

Hey I just wanted to be known that there is something even crazier that Taylor could do with 4 cubic meters of space she could put herself in the bag and because she doesn't weigh anything in the bag she could essentially fly using generic bugs to carry the bag

The motoroid that's currently wreckage swimming with the shards should repair itself any update now. It's currently out of range for any handcrafted upgrades, but he should be able to manage remote operation to use it to work on itself or other stuff. It would take some steps, but he could presumably go as far as building an extension of his workshop, not technically his workshop for power purposes, over there.

The Strongest Sword

Aisha walked through the workshop to Joe's room. She was slightly worried about him. A little while ago, Survey contacted her to ask for help. Apparently, Joe had created some super weapon, but for some reason couldn't handle it. While she didn't think she would be able to handle it either if that was the case, Survey claimed that Joe needed 'moral support' in order to get through this, whatever that meant.

Aisha finally made it to the room Joe currently was located at. She saw him slumped at a counter with his head in his hands, not a good sign. Across from him, there was what appeared to be a white mouse drinking tea. It clearly wasn't a mouse, but that was the closest thing Aisha could describe it as.

"Greetings, young lass" said the mouse.

"Ugg" moaned Joe.

Not sure what to do, Aisha asked "What's going on here, Jozef? Why is there an oversized mouse here?"

"FOOL!" cried the mouse, as he pulled a cane out from nowhere and pointed it at Aisha. "I am the mightiest weapon to ever exist!"

Aisha raised an eyebrow at that.

Joe pulled himself off the counter with a pained look on his face and spoke to her. "Hello Aisha, meet Excalibur. I tried to make a sword like the one from Web of Magic and ended up with this. Apparently, the sword can transform and talk."

"FOOL!" Cried the sword. "You bask in my glory yet cannot see my greatness!"

"So, that's the legendary sword Excalibur huh?" asked Aisha. "Is it really the strongest sword?"

"Apparently" said Joe.

"Really?" asked Aisha. "Just like in the show? Could I use it like King Arthur did?"

"Probably, but I don't think it's worth it" replied Joe. "You see"

"FOOL!" Cried the sword once again. "If the young lass wants to use me then who are you to stop her?"

Joe took one look at Aisha's excited face and the mouse/sword in front of him. "You know what, go ahead, knock yourself out. He's not dangerous, but you'll see for yourself why I don't want to deal with him."

"Alright" said Aisha. "C'mon Excalibur, lets go to one of the practice rooms."

"Very well, young lass, lead the way." said Excalibur. "You will have the privilege of wielding my true power."

"Uh, if we're going to be working together, my name is Aisha."

"Yes, young lass, we shall make excellent partners."

Aisha sighed at that. It was annoying, but she could put up with it to wield the mighty sword.

[Later]

Aisha and Excalibur arrived at one of the training rooms on the Volcano. Once they reached the center of the room, Aisha turned and asked Excalibur a question.

"Alright, so how do we do this?"

Excalibur pointed his cane at her. "Not so fast! This is a partnership after all, I can't be the only one to contribute. You must help as well. If you want to wield me in battle, you must do 1,000 errands for me beforehand."

Aisha blanched at that. "1,000 errands, isn't that a"

"Also!" exclaimed Excalibur, interrupting Aisha, "What do you know about me? You must learn about your partner if we are to fight together."

"Uh" stammered Aisha.

"Now, you see, when I was a wee lad, in the olden days of yore..."

XXX

[Much Later]

"... And thus, I took my first steps into adulthood." said Excalibur

"Uh, that's interesting and all, but" muttered Aisha

"FOOL!" cried Excalibur, "I am not yet finished with my story! Now, after leaving the blessed isles, I..."

XXX

[Much, Much Later]

"And thus, I arrived at this mysterious place and met the one you called Jozef. From there on, I believe you know the rest."

Aisha waited for a few moments before speaking. "You done?"

"Indeed" said Excalibur. "Now that I have finished my story, I feel like singing!"

"Uh, you don't need" muttered Aisha.

"Then, let's begin!" exclaimed Excalibur as he started dancing. "Here we go!"

"Excalibur, Excalibur!
Whenever you like a king!
I'm looking for him!
I'm going to California!
Excalibur, Excalibur!
Excalibur, Excalibur!
From the United Kingdom!
I'm looking for Heaven!
I'm going to California!
Excalibur, Excalibur!
Excalibur!"

Aisha stared at Excalibur as he sung. When it finally seemed like the sword was finished, Aisha spoke up.

"Uh, do"

"Excalibur, Excalibur!"

Aisha couldn't keep from facepalming at that.

XXX

[Much, Much, Much Later]

"Excalibur!" cried Excalibur.

"You done?" asked Aisha.

"Yes" replied Excalibur. "We should take a break for today, but before that, let us practice synchronizing our spirits for when we are in battle. I shall permit you to briefly wield me for this without any errands, young lass."

"Sure" said Aisha, as she grabbed Excalibur's hand.

In an instant, the white not-mouse transformed into a beautiful sword. Aisha felt the power as she gripped the mighty blade and saw wings of light form around her. Energy surged through her body and she felt invincible. Aisha lifted the mighty sword...

SHINK!

... and stabbed it into the ground.

"Yeah, I'm calling BS on this sword. Nothing is worth going through this headache on a daily basis. I can see why Jozef needed my help now. Later, Excalibur."

Aisha turned around and stomped out of the room, ignoring Excalibur's cries of protest as she swore to avoid the sword from now on.

A/N: Fun fact, although I don't see it coming up in story, the King Arthur jump (the one that gives Master Craftsman) has a drawback that basically (forcibly) gives the jumper a copy of Excalibur from Soul Eater.

I haven't watched Soul Eater in a while, so this is mostly from memory. I had to look up that song. I found two translations for it, so I just combined them here. Even if I get corrected on that, I'm leaving that section as is.

Also, when I proofread this, I couldn't help but read the [Later] sections in the voice of the narrator from Spongebob.

Joe isn't a jumper though. He's an OC existing canon character.

But the Celestial Forge functions by turning Joe into something that is as though a post jump. Hence, how Joe gets memories from "past lives" and items that he would otherwise not have and would only fit a supposed "past jump Joe".

In the case of PJO perks, for example, as per Fiat, Joe is treated as though "a Joe from a PJO world had these perks" and as such he gets the perks as post-jump.

In my mind, I see the face. the EXCALIBUR FACE! XD
I'm sure Campbell appreciates that Joe will not send more parahumans his way. It seems like dangerous thing to do.
You know you just stumbled onto a spinoff idea, right?
"Campbell, the most powerful person on earth! Trusted cape therapist!". It could even go in a bit different way the BCF is going, with trauma on display, healing and comforting.

On the family thing and taking into account Joe's Forge given "family relations"... We don't hear almost anything about the original, human father... and giving the Forge retroactively changes things... Could it be that Joe's father is (always was) Ἥφαιστος/Hephaestus, and in the Percy Jackson manner, he couldn't really contact his son, until he comes into being of his powers... And we will have a moment were Hephaestus will knock on the door, or appear on top of the Skyforge, and say "Son, it's good to finally see you, I can't express how proud I am of you"

Oh, I see. You have fallen in the same pitfall many others had fell.
It's not Magic vs Science. It's Magic vs Technology. What's the difference?
Science is at its core a set of principles for structured research and analysis. Magic is also a subject of science. They are not in opposition ^_^

Magic itself can be classified as a technique for achieving results without direct application of material tools and\or mediums. Thus most natural phenomena is magic (just like our ancestors classified it).
But technology is a technique for achieving results with direct physical application of material tools and\or mediums. Thus, various material replicators and force field projectors would be magic but then it's why there is an adage about how "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" - because it is magic.

FMA Alchemy is magic by this definition. Even if it's based on hard science, in application it is magic.

Funny thing about Runecraft: it's technology during an inscribing process, but runes themselves are magic because they generate their effects by themselves.
Thus, a thing about magnets - they are magic by themselves.

ANY SUFFICIENTLY ANALYZED MAGIC IS INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM SCIENCE! ~~~ Agatha Heterodyne

Joe's dad was physically present, and he seems to be an enabler, just avoiding conflict but letting it occur. Also LordR has said that Joe didn't bring the PJO gods with him, so ima say no, his dad ain't Heph.

Glad to see that Joe has finally gained the Most Common Superpower. Given how many freebie and cheap versions there are across the chain I guess it was only a matter of time, even given the limited nature of the Forge.

He's a real jumper now.

Perks don't do anything more than they need to do to ensure Joe's powers work. Just because they work off post-jump rulings for the sake of convenience doesn't mean they'll bother to actually manifest a true history of past jumps into existence. Joe may remember things that never happened, but a distinct line is drawn between those perks and the perks that actually add something to his past.

That definitely not true, as we can see from the Master Craftsman apeironce (I know it was bad, no I'm not feel bad). That perk could work without any actual "stolen by faefolk" stuff, with just fiat.
There's less glaring examples that perks is more than just descriptions. Like Master Builder, that not only gave Joe infodump about Cybertronian tech, but also experience and "instincts" of an AI.

edit:
@Transreal Cloud, I found several mistakes in the "Jumpchain docs" in "Allowed/Excluded" row.
Worm listed as Excluded, so as Transformers and The Witcher. While Wakfu listed as Allowed.
There may be other, I didn't checked it on purpose, just looked for Transformers' doc.

Yes, because the perk says he was taught by fairies. Therefore, by fiat, he was kidnapped by fairies at some point in the past despite there being no extra time for such an event to have occurred. What the perks insists is true is true, and nothing else.

The master builder perk, on the other hand, is just memories. The perk grants knowledge of the transformer's techbase and is intended to be taken by a transformer-ized jumper, therefore Joe receives it in that context despite being human and it works because fiat.

Lord has posted a number of comments over on AO3 today, one of which was on the recurring perk
Minor Blessings/Unnatural Skill. Basically he is going to let this run for the remaining major Greek Gods and then put it away.

The remaining gods are Hermes, Ares, Dionysus, Apollo, Hades, Poseidon, Zeus, and Demeter

Each of those already has an associated minor blessing so we don't need to figure that out.

HERMES: Blessing of Inventiveness (God of invention, makes designing new technology easier)
ARES: Blessing of Telumkinesis (Weapon Omniscience version, know and understand properties of weapons, helps with use and design)
DIONYSUS: Blessing of Brewing (Helps with actual alcohol production, but also related chemistry and alchemy matters)
APOLLO: Blessing of Medicine (God of healing, so improved medical skills and understanding)
HADES: Blessing of Ferrokinesis (Sense and have minor influence on metals)
POSEIDON: Blessing of Hydrokinesis (Mostly focused on hydraulic principles and sensing of flow of liquids)
ZEUS: Blessing of Electrokinesis (Sensing and minor control of electricity)
DEMETER: Hardest to nail down something applicable to the forge, probably something involving biology or life.

The problem is, Lord is out of obvious Unnatural skills. We need to come up with suggestions for eight more of them. Remember, these are Monster skills so for instance "Cooking" would be about cooking monster victims aka people.
My suggestions are:
Singing
Weaving
Seduction
Traps
Building (a home if needed to be more specific)
Stealth
Healing
Teaching

but what do you suggest?
