Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Here. Should cover it all. Perk is 600 points and called "Equivalent Exchange" despite having nothing much to do with FMA.

It's a perk based on a minecraft mod (and its sequel/remake) Equivalent Exchange, EE2 and the modernized one ProjectE.

It's based around alchemy and burning fuel, with different 'Energy-Matter Convalance' values based on how easy or difficult a block or item is to obtain.

Red Matter is essentially refined fuel to the nth degree, with the mod having 'alchemical fuels' and blocks that collect energy and sometimes sunlight into upgrading fuel types.

Fair point about the indestructible materials. Doubly so if he can enchant it to apply its own durability to them, much like his Fashion power or Taylor's Goddess Armour.

Don't know enough about Minecraft to know the significance of Red Matter though.

Thanks everyone!

Now I remember, loved that mod

Here in chapter 34/35 you begin to notice the repetitive powers, which is normal since there is no chapter in which the mc does not obtain at least 1 or more powers and of course, what new power can he obtain when he already has several powers that push his creations beyond perfection with the simplest materials of which he already have unlimited? The only branch that can be expanded is magic and magitek and that does not include alchemy. From now on I can only imagine abilities with vague descriptions about how it is better because it is better and that's it, in the end humans cannot imagine something better than perfect because in principle perfect is that there is no longer anything better, so it will basically boil down to designating creations with titles like: divine, heroic, mythical... and vague descriptions about how the creation is beyond perfection in an indescribable way etc... in the end we readers will be left with that it is better than before and that's it. which leaves me with intrigue since the plot has only been 1 and a half weeks with his powers and from what I understand I still have about 60/70 accumulated chapters left, I will continue reading with curiosity about how this will develop, if it continues with the mentioned trend or the author will surprise me with something that I have not anticipated (so far I have liked the novel a lot) at least the fairies thing has been more interesting than another skill that improves their work beyond perfection automatically, although the result has been the same.

PS: yes, I know I'm commenting on a very late chapter, I don't expect my comment to change anything, I just wanted to express my opinion.

I thought it was pretty clear that the Minecraft mod where the perk came from was an obvious FMA reference? It even has "Philosopher's Stone" in the perk description.

Frankly, if you want to comment on chapters from a long time ago, post them on the AO3 instead. This is a thread and bringing up old chapters kind of goes against that, especially since very few would want to engage on such dead horse subjects.

If you still play Minecraft, it's been copied over and expanded upon in the mod Project E.

Heh, do play on and off since 2011. Are you aware of any good Quest pack with it? Things like Blightfall or Regrowth

We have little stuff to talk about recently, so insights could be interesting as long as things remain civil and they are aware of possible spoilers.

As for lalaton, Character growth and dynamics, plus the way some powers interact/are exploited and explored is very interesting...
Every Character motivation is described through introspection when they are the focus of a chapter.
However, there's a good deal of continuous power accumulation and that has been discussed to death.
In general, it is worth the ride.

Isn't that just because it's literally only a couple days before the next update is scheduled? It's normal for discussions to peak and fall according to the update schedule - but no matter what, I still think it's weird to comment on an ongoing thread, no matter how active, about chapters that were literally years ago, and then when told by other posters in the thread to not do that, still do it again later on while admitting that commenting wouldn't really do anything and it was more them just recording their thoughts. I understand they don't mean any harm, but it's just very odd to say the least especially when their posts are so close to bringing up some very, very tiresome topics again (namely pacing, OPness, the usual dead horses).

Considering lalaton's account is fairly new and has very little posts so far, I had assumed that it's just them not knowing how things tend to be in forums like this and so hence why I directed them towards the AO3 version of the fic where they could do the same thing without bringing up years-old topics in-thread. It would be one thing if they were more recent chapters, but at the moment it's like commenting on the last chapter of Worm on how it was weird that Taylor thought she could hide her plans from Tattletale back when she was pretending to be a villain.

Given my own posting behavior, it should be clear that I don't see any problem with taking advantage of a lull in the conversation to discuss chapters from more than a year ago. My advice for @lalaton to get better discourse from the thread is to discuss more specific scenes instead of directing most of the verbiage to general impressions of a multi-chapter span.

Here in chapter 34/35 you begin to notice the repetitive powers
At any stage of the story, there are powers that aren't immediately useful for their primary purpose. Early on, Joe's missing the necessary materials (e.g. cybertonium) or supporting abilities (e.g. safely handling life fibers). Once he has a solid foundation, there's less of that and more redundancy with existing powers, although Roustabout tries pretty hard to make overlapping powers support rather than replace each other. Once some of the constellations run out... well, you'll see when you get there.

AO3 for a possible reply from Lord, that's how we got the majority of our WOGs, so more comments are always appreciated.
FFN, if you just want to give props and SV for discussion with fellow readers

It's like taking the best parts of the Gamer fics and mashing them into one brilliant collage of escalation.

I'm honestly frightened by what Taylor's going to do in response. She managed to take down a building with armour. Imagine what she would do with an unlocked omnitool, Tybalt would love meeting Taylor.

She manages to find the nichest most weaponisable uses of a item without even trying. This is why Joe didn't give her the staff and the superbugs, maybe he could give her one of those colour crabs?

Taylor would absolutely decimate the hell out of the Travelers and Coil with an unlocked omnitool on hand. Even Noelle would perish under an unleashed Taylor.

That's just with her equipment on hand, apart from the staff and crabs are there any other default items that would be absolutely terrifying with Taylor?

We should just have Aisha and Survey supervise and unleash Taylor on Coil and other low level Gang threats.

Call beads could give her Khepri's human control with Skitter's range and none much less of the mental side effects.

E: For about five seconds.

Probably not unless Joe also throws in a Key Crest to shield Taylor from the negative side effects. Remember, even now Joe's pretty hesitant on using call beads for messing with passenger connections and it's the main driver for his expeditions into Passenger Space.

Maybe if the Final Frontier makes contact with Queenie directly?

She's always been quite fond of Taylor, so I think giving her some help modulating would help, maybe an Ren-ish Divine Construct to modulate and train at a faster rate.

I'm pretty sure Joe would be quite upset to have produced an instantaneous human master effect. Even if it was strictly limited by range…

Wog from my comment on Ao3
Father's method was very specific to him, tied in with his location and the exact style of alchemy he had spread through the country. Joe could probably recreate it, but it would be easier for him to just use the Arcane Craft to manipulate the forces of Alchemy directly. It's effectively a cheat function and would even work on Alkahestry in addition to conventional transmutation alchemy.
With Arcane Craft and his Noble Phantasm Joe can turn off Alchemy which is going to be hilarious against Bastard son.

Keep in mind that Khepri was a crippled expression of Queens ability; Ziz needed to have Amy do the work instead of Riley who would have actually made that shit work properly.

Joe already made that portal device and figured out that Taylor's ability was limited only by range when he contemplated using portals to extend it.

A global pseudo-Fairy-Queen/pseudo-Queen-Of-Swords sort of ability focused on Queen's control over expressions of Parahuman abilities would probably work better. Not merely because Joe is a little bitch but also because humans are pathetic and Taylor can do better.

Delay Announcement
I am announcing a full week delay for the next chapter. I wasn't satisfied with what I've been able to write for the current chapter so I have been trying to edit and rewrite it in order to be able to get something out for this week. Unfortunately that hasn't been going well as I have been overworked and am pretty worn at the moment. I don't want to announce another short-term delay as I won't be able to manage more than a rushed and truncated chapter with the extra time. This will mark the first time the gap between chapters has extended to three weeks, but given that this is chapter 100 and the first cape battle in a very long time I want to be able to do it justice. I apologies for both the short notice and the longer delay, but I want to make sure that chapter 100 is at least up to my standards.

HYPE!

I really have no idea who is going to start something, with almost every group having a reason to start something, but i do hope is that this is the chapter the S9 end.

Just knowing there is going to be a battle is a nice thing to look forward too.
I am pretty sure this is the Teeth vs. the E88, maybe with some heroes, given that some left Garment's fundraiser recently.

We already know that the E88 are going to attack the Teeth… but they don't know that the Teeth already know that, and where they plan to attack, because those traps were baited carefully. I suppose the problems will really kick off when someone (probably a tooth) starts attacking civilians which is the trigger for the Celestial Forge to intervene. Which the Teeth may not be aware of because they left the summit early. Oh and the local Protectorate (what's left of it anyway) will probably show up and mess things up because they're operating under stupid engagement rules.
