Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

I mean, shouldn't it work? In worm as long as you create an accurate enough body for the shard to connect to it should work.
That's the thing. Human transmutation is also metaphysical stuff, and homunculi are explicitly considered nonhuman. Combine to that the magic-parahuman equivalency, even if Victor has the skill to do human transmutation perfectly somehow - he does not have the skill, nor is he aware of the true "resources" needed - it still points to being unlikely.

"Survey can't be everywhere." He said. "These are black channels, encrypted to begin with, and speaking in euphemisms after that. Nothing can definitively trace to any of us. It's a network of dedicated thinkers devoted to concealing their activities. At the very least, we would know if we were observed."
Ok people, how many of these "Thinkers" are actually Survey in disguise?

My guess is, 50% by weight?...Low-balling it, of course.

Also, looking forward (not) to the inevitable moment when Joe finds out about this and starts freaking out about the possible consequences.

As always, Thanks for the chapter Lord.

It would take time, effort, more consultations with other thinkers, but he could do it. Death would not be permanent, not to him. Finally, real power, meaningful power, power that didn't have a crippling cost or a series of slow compromises.

Finally, thanks to the art he had gained from Lethe, that he would make his own, he could gain something without losing something of equal value. When the time finally came, the exchange was going to be firmly in his favor.
Damn, the Shards of those suckers must be crab raving right now. Look at all the data they could collect with only beginner level Alchemy.

I wonder what Victor would exchange for his dead wife.

He going to meet truth. What will he take from victor?

Wouldn't it be interesting if, say, his shard were to vanish? I mean, by Truth's logic, it's probably partially culpable for Victor reaching above himself. It'd also be entertainingly apropos for the guy that relies so heavily on skills he stole from others to get that very ability stolen from him. (And Truth does seem to like ironic punishments.)

You could probably make a "body" in human transmutation, but the problem is you are pouring a lot of metaphysical stuff and meaning into it to make it (for example) Josh's specific body. The process also requires you to get the soul back from wherever it was, and to be force it into the body. If you don't have the steep requirements up front to cough up when they are due ( and Victor certainly doesn't)... a suitably ironic punishment awaits for you from the Truth

Considering the mentions of Othala's sister and Victor's first fiance, possibly but very unlikely. And that outcome might just mean that the Empire self destructs before Joe can even do anything to deal with them.

After all, Victor is basically the Empire's lynchpin. He's the only one holding up the organization with all of its friction and conflicting members, especially at such a trying time. If he ever attempts Human Transmutation and even just gets crippled in the process? That all collapses.

And the worst of it? Homunculi, when they are born by human transmutation, are painfully fragile. They are existences that could end at any moment until they are provided Philosopher's Stones or souls to maintain their existence. And with Victor likely in no position to fix that problem when he realizes that mistake - if he even survives said mistake to figure it out - the exchange would be the Empire's lynchpin traded for a failed biotinker's experiment.

I personally see the E88 or PRT finding Victor after some disturbance. They find him curled up and bleeding from missing organs, covered in exploded human.

Record or notes found show he was 'trying to use transmutation' to bring back his dead first wife.

Now, his power is known. And him 2nd triggering into a biotinker is a stretch inworld.

So, I see whoever finds him thinking he became delusional and tried to use his stolen skills to grow a person with mundane science.
I mean, we cloned sheep. As a parahuman able to steal skills, I could see whoever finds him thinking this.

Victor being seen like Nilbog would be interesting.

Yeah, fuck equivalent exchange. Nothing bad can come of this.

Also, he stole that skill from Lethe. Why does he think she can't do it? pride?
He thinks that she has this one amazing skill that she can use in her limited fashion, but that his amazing collection of varied skills are the key to turning it into what he's going to do.

All of the thinkers victor is in contact with about transmutation are survey.
Nah, they don't all have to be. Honestly, Thinkers independently studying Alchemy was already in the cards long ago according to WoG. If anything, the group might just be Survey putting them all together, reasoning, "It'll be easier to deal with all of them with one fell swoop if they're bunched together like this."

Maybe, it still feels like a case where the shard/magic equivalence should make it possible. All he needs is a body in the end.

Lethe might control matter and memory. Apeiron might control powers. Lethe information, Fleet speed, and so on for the rest of the titans of the forge, but Victor had a way to step beyond them. To take their art to a point only someone with his knowledge and skill could. He could control life.
"..Survey information.."

Can't wait to see this inevitably blow up in Victor's face :V
It's gonna be glorious!
