As The Englanderish quoted, it was a stupid pun on your comment about how the MP units 'voiced their objection' to Asuka's continued heroics.

since 'voicing their objection' == 'turning 02 into a giant pincushion', 'numerous points'.

And now my explaining the joke ruined it.
As I've said, I'm on graveyard shift for another day or so... I know I have two more shifts left in this rotation. "Days" stop being meaningful when you wake up, go to work and a half hour later its tomorrow.
Anyway, didn't even remember making that joke.

In Kaworu's defense, his body is 14. As the joke goes, even a stiff wind could turn him on.
Under the right circumstances, a mild breeze will suffice.
Also, even Asuka (who has demonstrated no bisexual or lesbian tendencies) thinks Rei's hot.
Did she entertain the thought because she thinks Rei is attractive, or is it more because there is physical and emotional intimacy between the three of them? And Rei's hot.

Anyone else starting to feel a bit sorry for Kaworu here?

Also, Rei is simultaneously adorable and scary when she flips the fuck out.
Maybe and yes.

Shinji's already on to the right track with how Eva's work. Yui's gotta be proud.

Didn't you fall head over heels for him first?:V
Once both parties have succumbed to gravity and the requisite regulations of the Interpersonal Shipping Association, does it really matter who fell first?

:lol:rofl:'Dissolved into embarrassed goo'. I gotta remember that.
Ditto

1. So Rei's worried HIC'll kill Rei and Shinji for knowing she's a clone.
HIC'll?
Oh, Human Instrumentality Comittee, acronymed and abreviated with "will." Nevermind.

IIRC, since each angel is a 'possibility' for what Humanity might have been, Kaworu is the sole example of an entirely new species of humanity. And he knows he's alone.
That's very insightful, and now I officially feel sad for Rainbow Trout

Kaworu establishes that he doesn't answer to SEELE.

  • Rainbow Trout doesn't answer to SEELE
  • Rei wants to be honest with Shinji & Asuka, but fears that SEELE will kill them for knowing the truth, as per Rainbow Trout's warning.
  • Rainbow Trout needs to earn some brownie points with Rei.
The solution is simple, go smite SEELE, so Rei can tell Shinji and Asuka the truth. And maybe he'll have to threaten Gendo in some terrifying way, just in case but I'm okay with that.

I just created a bookmark folder for memes and that's the first one to go in!

Shinji: ...I actually understand completely. Wow, that says something about my life.
(Later, in a small hidden space under some stairs)
Kaworu: --and her eyes! They don't just glow, they blaze! I should be afraid --I am afraid!-- but instead of running away, I want to get closer. Is this what the saying refers to, "moth to a flame"?
Shinji: Oh, tell me about it. It's not that you like having her angry, but when she is, it's... it's like she's more alive, more her. Get her angry enough, and all the pretenses vanish, all the acting stops, and all you have is pure her. And even though it's so dangerous, you can't look away, because it's so beautiful.
Kaworu: You DO understand! Oh, Shinji-kun! (GLOMP!)
Shinji: ....why do I have this weird feeling of deja vu?
That must be odd for Shinji... being the emotionally secure and experienced person in the conversation.

Asuka: (A radiant and almost devious smile appears as she makes up her mind) My dearest baka...We hooked Hikari up with the Jock Stooge. This will be easy!
FTFY

Never bet against 'It Gets Worse' in an Evangelion universe.

You'll lose money every time.
There have to be times when the result is either status quo or improvement. Otherwise it's not gambling.

At least her reason for hating him is 'he can destroy the WORLD' which makes it pretty reasonable.
This is emotion! Why do you have to be a killjoy and drag "reason" into our perfectly good WAFF?

Ignore the magically necrosed plant, your plan will absolutely work!:V

You must be pretty new to the 'net. Everyone knows the most convenient way to store internet images is with an imgur account and albums./kidding

I saw what you did there.

I believe the term you're looking for is "adorifying"

It's strange to see how Asuka has gone all soft and fluffy while Rei has embraced her inner tsundere. Did they do a personality swap at some point? :V
... I could make a virus joke out of that, throw out some lines of Misato, Maya, and Gendo being tsundere, but it's 2 in the morning and I'm out of coffee. My brain just can't.

Nah, Asuka just had a Tsundere Polar-Shift, turning from a Type-A "Tsun-Tsun" into a Type-B "Dere-Dere"... she just hasn't had a reason to switch her fire back on yet (partly because it was bravado, and partly because nothing has legitimately earned her ire yet). Rei just picked up Asuka's bad habits back when Asuka was a Type-A... that or it's her inner Yui waking up (Remember, Yui Ikari could scare Gendo AND keep him check!)

Rei looked at Asuka.

Rei: "It's been a few months now. I grow tired of this."

Asuka: "So do I."

Shinji: "...what's going on?"

Asuka: "We have something to tell you..."

Rei: "Pay close attention..."

Both girls reached for their hair.

They pulled off their wigs.

Red became blue; blue became red.

Asuka/Rei: "Gotcha!"

Shinji: "WHAT?!"

Misato: "WHAT?!"

Kyoko: "WHAT?!"

Not exactly. Keep in mind, Rei's role model for 'how to be a normal teenage girl' is Asuka. So when a new behavior or situation comes up, guess how she's going to model things? :)

So if by some chance accident Kawouru manages to make a common bond between the two of them no power between this earth and heaven will stop her from protecting it?

Off question, but when did "tsundere" become a thing? Was it around in '95? Did Anno make Asuka with that concept in mind? Or some time after?

I think the term came later but the character archetype already existed. NGE is important in this way because it looked at common anime character archetypes and showed why these people would be acting in this way, and usually because of horrible stuff in their history.

Also, let's not forget that Asuka has been mostly interacting with people she loves at this point in the story. When it comes to interaction with strangers, she'll probably be more polite than before, but most likely still with an air of superiority. Though I don't think she'll be a straight up jerk ass to anyone anymore, unless she hates them, of course. I'm looking at you Tanaka, Ritsuko, and Gendo.

Okay. I must admit something. It's kinda awkward, but... well, you know, better some awkwardness than diminishing enjoyment of the story. How exactly is Kaworu responsible for Rei not being able to tell Shinji and Asuka about stuff? It feels like I have completely missed something. I mean, just because he is there doesn't mean the general "security situation" isn't changed. SEELE is near-all-powerful with or without Kaworu in Japan...

And what an emotional whiplash chapter. First part: All the feels. And really, all the feels. And then, second part, all the laughter.

Now, after having just read both A&T up to this point and ACoS to nearly up to date, details get a bit blury about what is used when, but you are really overusing this metaphor: "He'd seen Asuka without her clothes a lot over the last few months, but never this naked." Oh, and Rei does seem a bit... very human. I suppose it could in fact be because she's modeling her behaviour on Asuka, but... that change is still rather quick, all things considered. Not that seeing such a Rei when all things are said and done wouldn't be lovely, but within a span of, what, some weeks after she got off her drugs and started social interaction? It doesn't really disturb by suspension of disbelief, and of course it generates funny, but still, yeah...

----

Now, as for the comments. Oh man. I definitely should have joined that thread earlier. Your people are all genius....

Granted Evageeks and Evangelion.wikia are virtually verbatim on the subject but they say EVA-02 started to berserk before the Mass Production units voiced their objection to Asuka's continued heroics.
EVA-02 twitched one hand a bit. I'd rate that as one tenth of a Berserk run, at best. So okay, EVA-02 has 0.1 berserk runs, maybe. :p

Kaworu: Rei is very attractive when angry! Telling her this makes her even angrier and even more beautiful!
Shinji: What.
Shinji, of all people, would understand this very well I think ;)

That's like giving a suicidal person a gun when one knows they are suicidal and then going 'totally wasn't my fault' when they inevitably turn up in the morgue.
True, but even though Rei III may have been the most... complete of all Reis (Ree?), she still would not have thought in such terms.

Ah, my poor, poor opponent.

Oh, hey, I know! An OT4 that goes on a tour of seeking revenge! :D

The character archetype had been around for quite a while in anime (and still is today), but this is Eva: Anno wanted to deconstruct all the standard Giant Robot Show tropes, and show you how they could be really ugly if taken straight. So he took the standard 'tsundere girl who is mean to a boy she likes because she can't just say what she really feels' and said 'Ok, why would someone act like that? That's a pretty messed up way to deal with your emotions, so you'd have to be pretty messed up to make that how you live.' And therefore, we got Asuka and her deeply traumatic past, and terrified isolation of her heart.
Oh, and Rei does seem a bit... very human. I suppose it could in fact be because she's modeling her behaviour on Asuka, but... that change is still rather quick, all things considered. It's actually been a few months at this point. Asuka and Shinji talked her into going off the drugs within a few weeks of them getting together, and Rei de-toxed the first time in the late first and second month of their relationship. It's been longer than you think.

And yes, Rei is being somewhat irrational in blaming Kaworu for having to stay silent, but he's the target she can reach right now. Sadly, there's practically no one else she can talk to about it, too: Shinji, Asuka, and Misato are out due to the threat from SEELE, Doctor Akagi since Rei hasn't revealed just how far off script she's run, and... well, she doesn't have many other people she might talk to but the Fifth Child.
