Chapter 11 Planning Notes, 2014
I can't say I expected Rei and Asuka's almost offhand introduction of the idea of AT-Field enabled space expansion to be the main topic of the discussion after that update. o_O
I guess that means I did alright on the emotional conflict part of it?
This is basically me and my girlfriend, honestly. She denies making out with a girl for a minute is gay but I am onto her adorable lies.
You should punish these lies with additional kisses. ~evil laugh~
there seems to be more of an effort among NERV and perhaps even the folks who ferried Unit-03 over to get a working S2 engine happening, it just needs some brave enough volunteers. And a little luck:
Keep in mind, Unit-03 didn't have an S2 Engine there. That was a 'gift' of Bardiel. The 'new technology' the pilot of the transport was talking about was the Evangelion itself.

Well... I was going to copy out my chapter notes for Chapter 11 tonight, but I just spent the last hour in a cold and muddy bunker due to an alarm here on base. That was annoying.
Let's see if I can copy at least some of it. I wrote these notes out in 2014, when I saw that A&T might go all the way and needed to have more planning to it than the seat-of-my-pants that got me through the prologue and chapter 1-2.
Here we go:
Chapter 11: Cards On The Table

Rei III tells S&A what she is, reveals Gendo's plan. Kaworu tells what he is, how meeting Rei and seeing S&A reconfirmed his desire not to end the Lilim. Asks them to kill him before he can't stop himself from going to Terminal Dogma. S&A don't like that. Rei really, really doesn't like that. Gets angry at Kaworu for even asking. Kaworu confused. Shinji looks at Asuka. "Was I this clueless?" "Yes, you were, baka. I love you anyhow." ~chu~

After R&K tell them all they know, Asuka comes up with the 'End The War' plan. Everyone discusses, gives the veto to Shinji, because he's the one they all trust. Shinji awkward and worried at everyone's trust in him. Asuka reassures him, she believes in him, etc. Positive feedback loop.

The Plan: Asuka points out Gendo's plan involves Adam's body fused to his own Lilim one being merged with Lilith's body, using Rei (half-Lilim, half-Lilith DNA, Lilith's soul) as an intermediary/buffer/control circuit. If they can replicate this under the joint, willing control of Rei and Kaworu, they can short-circuit both SEELE and Gendo's plans, satisfying Complementation enough to make any further Impact Events impossible. Kaworu (Adam's soul + Lilim & Adam DNA) and Rei III (Lilith's soul + Lilith & Lilim DNA) and Lilith's body provide 3/4 of the needed pieces to trigger a controlled Third Impact, where Rei can force a partial Complementation for Kaworu, relieving him of the compulsion to fuse with Adam and erasing the Call. Kaworu is fully on-board, because it lets Shinji and all his (Kaworu's) friends live, and... he's not at all opposed to being with Rei like that. "She's um... really pretty. And stuff." Both of them blushing, etc.

Problems: Gendo has Adam, and none of them know that. Lilith's real body is all the way down in Terminal Dogma. Misato & Rei combined can get them down there, maybe.

'Are you going to shoot me too?' scene with Misato, Rei, Kaworu. Shinji and Asuka explain to Misato what's going on, have to carefully talk her down from insisting that Kaworu die right away. Kaworu annoys Rei by agreeing with Misato about it. Misato realizes the thing Kaji says he brought Gendo from Germany must be Adam. (She remembers/explains that after they got back together, he explained why he ran off when Gaghiel attacked, to apologize to her.) [[Yes, I planned the 'Are you going to shoot me too?' moment that far back. When I told him about it, my first beta described that scene as 'brutal'. He liked it. :) ]]

Rei and Kaworu unsure if trying the plan will work w/o Adam's body. Rei is mostly sure Gendo can't/won't try his Impact w/o her. (Without Lilith's soul, Gendo would have no control of the process, his own soul being inadequate to the task. No one would have control. Possible desperation move for him, to trigger it anyhow?)

You can see that things changed, though a lot of elements stayed as planned years ago. Rei and Kaworu's relationship wasn't quite as advanced as it has developed now, and Rei IV did not yet exist.

It means that there is a sizable nerd subset in the set of your readers :p

But the emotional part was great, too. Just... we tend to latch to surprisingly random things. Don't worry about that.

Out of curiosity, does that mean you don't update the notes as things change? Or was that the first draft?

Intresting how those pesky characters don't cooperate, huh? :V

There aren't really written notes much. It develops in my head, but I don't often put them down on paper.

There's less than 1 page of notes from 2014 left, covering Ch 12 and one epilogue.

Just imagine, while down there you happen upon a stash of those glow-in-the-dark skeleton PJs some folks wear for Halloween. Then you get enough base personnel to help recreate the Terminal Dogma environment. Not sure how to get the Lilith mask right, unless you pop some armored Humvees door panels and rope them together.

If I haven't lost you with this scenario, the main point is scare the adversary, and scare them good. And no matter how uncomfortable the bunker conditions are, you are part of the best unit detail, both in operational consistency and combat effectiveness, otherwise they wouldn't have put you guys and gals out there.

But I leave it to you to prioritize base upkeep with forum updates. I hope that there are fellow Evangelion nerds in your unit.

Especially since you already know how to bring Eva characters closer together.

Thanks OP Strypgia!

Oh, I see, thank you for the clarification. That's quite few for a project this size o_O

If you forgive the levity, I am guessing the actual consumption should take place in a heavily shielded place (Terminal Dogma might suffice). Otherwise, the groundshaking nature of the experience, not to mention the sparks, would be a collapse hazard to any building, even in earthquake-proofed Japan architecture.

Interesting, but does this mean we'll somehow be getting multiple epilogues, or is it more a "take it as it comes" situation?

That accounting for turnaround? If it's a crewed spacecraft you're looking at something between three weeks and a month at one gee. Of course, the S2 engine providing unlimited power doesn't mean squat if you still need remass (because remass and fuel are different, even if most people use the term fuel when they mean remass), but based on what Asuka's saying they do't, so presumably they'd be using something other than a magsail. This leads in to the question of "If an Eva has an S2 organ, why can't it fly?"

If you have something as overpowered as an S2 engine as a power source, you can build a Bussard ramjet - possibly even one capable of scooping the remass in a standstill - and solve your problem this way.

You dangled a shiny with some of the numbers already filled in in front of a forum of SF/F nerds.

What did you think was going to happen? (And don't let Kensuke find out about this. He will somehow manage to dig up the plans for Ol' boom-boom and NERVA :p )

I do believe I mentioned magnetic scoops, but that might be more of a Ram-Augmented Interstellar Rocket than a straight-up ramjet.

Heh, and now I'm imagining the Chronicles crew somehow getting a copy of this entire forum thread, and their reactions to that last diversion. "They've just reached the endgame, it's been revealed that Gendo has a secret clone of Rei, and they're talking about using AT-Fields for space travel?"

Even more amusing would be Ritsuko, Maya, and/or Kensuke getting successfully nerd-sniped.

Sufficient Velocity: If you're not nerd-sniping, you're not contributing!

"You started it, Asuka."

"I mean... sure, but..." the redhead coughed. "I never said it was a bad thing, okay?"

"No, that was more or less implicit."

"Quiet, you."

Have the MP EVAs been hinted at yet? Since they [EoE spoiler alert] are said to use Kaworu-fed dummy plugs. I just wonder if these dozen or so are like the show-based dummy plugs that are just a bulky hard drive, or Rebuild 2.22 Unit-01's robotic manifold (that physically squats in the entry plug and takes over, at least from a Rebuild standpoint). Searched and apparently the Rei series was a flash clone but probably just an image for the pilot AI heuristics.

Personally the physical clone insertion is rather badass. If it really is the EoE method, they can totally skip combat and just start an automated concierto using the Geofront's acoustics.

... ... ...Maybe this is only thanks to it being for a chapter but there's a lot less here then i thought there'd be. I mean most of my notes are meant for a whole series of chapters and are either general enough to be used by another author or there's enough there to give them options.
There aren't really written notes much. It develops in my head, but I don't often put them down on paper.

There's less than 1 page of notes from 2014 left, covering Ch 12 and one epilogue.
Or maybe it's cause of that.
I wish i could get away with this. I have no choice but to write down what i thinks up as soon as i can as otherwise I'll just forget it.

So just an idea, but given A&T is a well know North Carolina school, is it silly to consider throwing together a rival group (shadowing Nerv agents and reporting to SEELE perhaps) called Salem?

"They are certainly a... creative bunch. Yes, that is the word I will use."

"Why didn't I think of using an S2 for space travel? We wouldn't have had to use that stupid prototype rocket to get you to the moon, Rei!"

"But then you would not have the satisfaction of the rocket landing itself." Before she gave a glance to Kaworu. "I am sure you find having two me's acceptable."

"You do know I'm already you in most all ways, right?"

"Which Kaworu finds acceptable, no?"

A small smirk from the fish. "More of a good thing and all that. Though I'm curious just how I would turn this other Rei to the light side."

"Seduction seems to work out well for you."

"What, you think he can seduce Rei again?"

Eliza looked around the room like she was a confused Travolta.

"Right, fair enough."

"I'm just amazed how much has changed from where our world seemingly split." Mused Shinji.

"Much like the Laserdiscs." Noted Rei. "Let us hope that world survives. It is actually somewhat decent, our recent incident not withstanding."

"As long as we all end up alive in the end." Asuka shrugged. "Big ask, I know."

"We ended up fine in Hangover and Chronicles. We should be fine."

Their copy of the thread bumped with this exact story.

"...Well, that's a bit trippy."
~
Say hi to the gang, everyone :V
And be quick about it, interdimensonal minutes are expensive :V

Hey, guys? Tell Kensuke i'm going to do everything in my admittedly limited voting power over here in Sphere-1922 to get Half-Life 2 to him, okay?
I'm actually genuinely interested to see how long it takes him to get through all three games in terms of Chronicles parts, BG. :p

I want this. I mean that literally; this had better be on the next vote or i am throwing a massive hissy fit.
"They are certainly a... creative bunch. Yes, that is the word I will use."
What else could you use? Seriously, i tried to think of it and i am drawing a blank cause "creative" both covers everything and nothing.

And I've been trying to get KSK more screen time with Stryp, but it hasn't been working, sorry.
... ... ...Also, just for the sake of being honest/open(cause bad things always happen in Eva when people aren't), i once tried to talk Stryp into writing an omake where Kensuke, Toji and 123 were rulers of the world thanks to their Eva's and they took on concubines(with Rei being Askua's/Shinjis, and Hikari's older sister being Toji's), with Ken having Homura, Madoka and Mami as his, then him having just Mami. That was born of a...idea(i don;t think it was bookmarked) someone else had on this Thread long ago.
Oh, i also tried to talk everyone into writing a omake for DIRTT where Kensuke tries to hook up with the version of you two in his world cause the fish(who's name i can never recall how to spell) told him about you guys currently, but instead hooked up with Madoka/Homura from the Rebellion movie instead.

You know what I'm wondering, A&T split off from the main timeline with the kiss, Chronicles split off from A&T with I presume a different result of the immediate attempted assassination right after the theater (since that was where I think the split was decided by BG_Character_592 when Rei and Kaworu looked at the timeline tree right after finishing A Second Try if I remember correctly) but what I'm now wondering, where did the Inheritence fic and it's mini-series of fics afterwards by Matt R split off from the main A&T timeline?

Here some lines that describe how ugly the MP Evas are.

From Star Fox Command:
I have seen ugly before, but those could peel the paint off an out house.

From MS saga: a new dawn:
They are so ugly they can turn Medusaa to stone.
They are so ugly they can make an onion cry.
