Not seriously, I think. It's not terribly efficient, and may or may not end the Gilded Age, which we may or may not want.

But I'm pretty sure the only other safe option from Mills and Survey for that secondary is Gymnasiums.
Is there a writeup for Gilded Age/Golden Age anywhere?

If Gilded Age costs us more stability, it might be wise to get out of it, but it sounds like it also gives us Megaproject support/extra actions or something.

Maul the mercenary companies, still unsure about the damage to the Highlanders, although it should be significant.
Do the HK have cavalry?
Do we have an approximation of how much Martial they have?
How many war missions did we have last turn? (Since we weren't doing War during the main turn...)
Would you be willing to give more information about how the mechanics of war work?

Gilded Age gives us some wealth income from cities and various Golden Age purchase options, which can include dedicated actions for Megaprojects, yes.

If we can afford to keep it around, it could be nice, but we should only try to keep it around if we're willing to spend a significant fraction of our actions boosting stability.

Influencing that? We've currently got a quest going on that Improve Annual Festival will help complete, so spending effort on stability has some attraction at the moment.

Honestly, I'd want a lot more debate on what we'd be doing next before I'd be willing to make the call one way or he other, myself.

Point of note, many of them will actually not adapt well to rural life. Some will, but a large portion will be rather miserable because they aren't used to the type of work and the change in access to social amenities.

Also, if you pop the cities you lose the faction power and it will take a few turns for the faction to reform at 0 or even negative power.
Thank you! I'm glad to have that cleared up.

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised about how pessimistic it looks. I thought our light calv alone would be enough to sweep them out of the lowlands based one the wrecking we got from the pure.
I'm honestly not surprised. AN has been showing us that the HK is currently running on super-religion infused fanaticism, and have steamrolled pretty much everyone up to this point. That's not something you challenge lightly.

@Academia Nut do we know how many men are the HK fielding? Or really anything about how the HK has managed to overrun everyone around them so easily? I mean, they are a pretty small civ, yet they went on a conquest spree that would have been draining to us, and we are several times their size. How could they be pulling this off?

Are they looting the territories they take bare to fund this effort? Because I'm not sure how they are managing to fight a war of such high intensity for so long otherwise...

Considering AN has answered that the genius isn't confident in beating the HK without Offensive, I'll switch over. It's annoying, but oh well. We lock in our PSN and React options to spamming Expand Econ to drop our EE back down if we want to keep the cities. Annoying but workable.

I currently have no opinion on the marriage. (I previously slightly supported SY but some good arguments were made)

Well, I'm not AN(obviously :V ) but I imagine that their fanaticism may be acting like a (potentially)cheaper offensive form of kicking. That would help them do all this, and would explain his comments about them running hot and overdrawing. Further from that, the Harmurri might have been weak militarily since they were expecting us to protect them, and the khem colonies they took were mostly empty I would imagine.

Additionally, we don't know what military innovations they have had but we simply haven't noticed considering their isolation and intrigue skills.

One thing we might have to do is work on boosting the Harmurri's power after this. If we aren't using the levies to break the HK, then we need to make sure we have a counterbalance in the form of the Har. Had the HK not been distracted in taking the Harmurrin land, we likely would have seen the HK trying to hit our core.

The HK will attack again in the future, and while increasing our defenses will certainly help, they are also almost certain to attack when we can least afford it. We need the Harmurri to be willing to counter the HK if they attack us in the future, so we can force any war the HK starts to be a 2 front war to them.

I think the reason people keep underestimating everyone around us is because they keep looking at other nations from our perspective.

For us, Martial is usually pretty costly to get, and War is extremely costly and time consuming, something that should be avoided are finished as soon as possible.

For basically every other nation, War is an opportunity.
It's easy to get people to fight for loot or land or fanaticism or whatever, and thus many nations can easily build up a huge army so long as they have momentum and have been getting glory.
