I mean, we already have a +8 wealth drip. The diplo is honestly more useful to us in the long term.
Diplo already flows from Culture, Tech, Mysticism triangle. We are also in much less need of Diplomacy than Wealth as we are less likely to spend big on it.
Narratively it goes against our intended use of the games as a tool of diplomacy. And diplomacy overflows into Wealth anyway, with few ways to spend it in large quantities, so it's not a huge concern.
Nope, Diplomacy flows first into Culture and then into Wealth. Switching over to Wealth allows us to ensure that we would always have some wealth to spend which is going to be super helpful with how expensive everything is now
It increases the chance of the games always being centered on us. If we charge than someone might just say that they will do their own games.
Very Unlikely, we only had the chance of opening it because of our Pride in Acceptance Traitline.
I really don't get what's going on here. Trading Tech for Wealth is basically useless when we're already overflowing Tech into Wealth, and we don't want a Gilded Age to start. It also doesn't even specify if that meets the trade demands.

I have to say, explicitly naming the update "Prologue to epic" is probably really pushing us to Mass Levy. I'd be somewhat uncertain from just what's in the update, but this makes it pretty clear that shit's going down.
With how incredibly expensive everything is, we are unlikely to go into a Guilded Age. Being topped up on Wealth also allows to Support Sacred Order. Which if I must remind you,

Support Sacred Orders [Priests] – The various sacred orders of specialist warriors provide a number of benefits and special skills, but require considerable investment
*S: -3 Econ, -3 Mysticism, -12 Wealth, +5 Martial, +1 Light Cavalry, +2 Culture, other effects
*M: -4 Econ, -4 Mysticism, -14 Wealth, +7 Martial, +2 Light Cavalry, +3 Culture, other effects

Costs an astounding 14 Wealth for a main. We are going to need it if we want to suffer much less of our numbers dying.

Yes we can send out a ton of levies, but that does not mean we want them to die.

[X] [Inno] Looks important, invest heavily (-3 Wealth, -3 Mysticism, -1 Tech, ???)

[X] [Policy] Switch to Mass Levy
[X] [Kick] No kick
[X] [Trade] Smiths work overtime! (-2 Tech/turn but can meet demand for trade)

Beyond that though, the two most sophisticated members of the Games were demonstrating considerable interest in sending not just their proud warriors, but also their artisans.
Who are these two candidates for the Artisan Games, and who else is participating in the ordinary games besides these two?

The narrative is confusing me on who they are.

So, this is an interesting update.

[X] [Inno] Looks important, invest heavily (-3 Wealth, -3 Mysticism, -1 Tech, ???)
This sounds like paper, and we really, really need this if we want to efficiently administer our lands and in general more easily store and transfer knowledge.

[X] [AG] They may join (Open games, ???)
Thanks to the BS that is Markets, we now somehow have a +8 Wealth income.
The update also states that our more Warlike Games participants likely have useful War technology that we could use in the upcoming war, and that many of our own techs require more than just seeing them to properly steal. Not requiring a fee because that might deter them from coming to the Games, and we want them to come and give us their sweet, sweet tech.

[X] [Policy] Switch to Mass Levy
We currently have positive Wealth income, and we are losing not that much econ. we can afford to go Full Mass Levy, and because the Forhuch chose to take the Take the Crown CB in our war, they will lose 1 stab per turn. We can easily stall them out with pure mass of bodies if we need to, and the war will simply become too dangerous to continue, and either their King will call for peace, or he will be replaced by someone who will.

[X] [Trade] Push the guilds to the limit to meet demands (Trade Tech for Wealth, up to 5 per phase, to attempt to top up Wealth)
Try and brute force our way around our new Wealth issues, and just throw Artisans and Guildsmen at the problem until they find a solution.

Diplo already flows from Culture, Tech, Mysticism triangle. We are also in much less need of Diplomacy than Wealth as we are less likely to spend big on it.
The point remains that we already have a decent level of wealth gain, with several different ways to increase it further. We don't have a way to increase passive diplo gain other than the games, as far as I can remember.

The thing is, culture and mysticism aren't going to be dragged down below maximum at all and both provide enough dripped overflow into tech to cover any losses there as well. So basically, anything that goes into diplomacy is going almost straight into wealth. Combined with a native +8 wealth drip (why didn't we go for Wonder-Dam again?) we don't need to worry about wealth in this case. Let's look at the narrative.

So, now if we look at this narratively, do you think they are going to react well when we tell them we are charging for them to be in the games? If I were them, I would try to steal techs to make up for that cost, and I would be much more stingy about my own techs. Charging for entrance basically defeats the purpose of the games in the first place, which is to foster cooperation and good relations.

I would highly recommend a 1-stab kick. Surviving this first phase while our levies prepare is of vital importance, and a kick should significantly increase our war strength. (I think we get one free [Main] war mission on the war-declaration, so this would double our investment?)

It saves 2 tech a turn.
Actually, I should ask questions first

@Academia Nut
In regards to [Trade] Push the guilds to the limit to meet demands (Trade Tech for Wealth, up to 5 per phase, to attempt to top up Wealth)
Is this tech trade refundable?
Does this option stop the Trade Disruption?

Also my questions here.

Eh, that seems fair. It's not like we're expecting for this not to be bloody, after all.
