Building the temple in Horse Valley will increase accessibility. It might not be good right now but that can always be improved.
It can be improved, but you objectively will not be more accessible in hills than at a river mouth until railways are invented. That's just how transportation works in the Iron age.
Our catamarans can cross the entire Black Sea lengthwise in three days. A priest heading there from Sacred Forest could sail half a day down the canal to the Snake River, then take a Catamaran to Blackmouth in another half a day.
A priest at the Dragon Graveyard could sail half a day downriver from Stallionpen.
A priest at Tinriver could visit it in three days sail acros the Black Sea.

But the same is not true for the hills of Stonepen. This is objective fact. Roads are slow, hills are slow. Steppe is marginally faster, but the boat will always go faster than the horse.

[X] [PttS] Black Mirror
[X] [Diplo] Send out reassurances (Sec Trade Mission to Khemetri, Trelli, and Harmurri)

The only votes that are relevant. I was about to make a comment about Black Mirror but ..

However, the Khemetri already have the Horse Valley type of Place to the Stars, so it might be more valuable to focus on Black Mirror, then do another astrology tech trade with them in the future. Star maps for mathematics.

... Veekie scooped me. As he mentioned, I see the Khemitri Place to the Stars seems more similar to the Horse Valley location, and given we have Pride in Acceptance we should be able to take advantage of various insights they generate particularly as our priests have already had a knowledge exchange. Thus the access the the Holy Site and the societal benefits that comes from such a thing have a greater impact.

For the diplomatic option; honestly both Trade Post and Trade Mission are very close. Trade Post takes advantage of our relative peace, starts taking independent actions itself, the various trade goods we can benefit from, and the wood products that are likely to aid the Grand Dock's project. However, for me the sheer bombastic nature of what just happened means we should take the limited opportunity to try and double down on relations with others. This is particularly the case as if the Khemitri's diplomatic King means we may be able to establish even deeper bonds. It also means that the next Games is going to be particularly amazing. Although on that point, it's kind of dissappointing the Khemitri King and the Dragon General didn't get to meet there.

Horse Valley: Place with a glorious night sky
Black Mirror: Place to get high and psychedelic

I wonder where we should build our observatory.

Limiting ourselves to a natural pool of water is all sorts of fun too. Who cares about those other stars, or looking at the actual sky.

Black Mirror is highly unlikely to ever get expanded.

I rather doubt about the full span, but even two turns would be amazing.
Well it depends on how you define "full span" but this is what AN had to say about him if you missed it:

Not yet.
2 more turns on the treachery CB, Hertythyn will be in charge for 1-2 more turns. He's a lot more spry than anticipated.

This was said between <Decision point> and <Inflection point> and Decision point was the main turn while Inflection is the mid. So he should have 0.5-1.5 turns left in him.

*shrug*

He's gonna be having shit tons of headaches from what we are doing, for sure.
I pity the poor guy.

She managed to chart the path of a meteorite! How the heck do you manage to do that in the Iron Age? God damn, only the best Ptolemic astronomers were able to chart the sun, planets, and constellations. That's how our Admin Hero couldn't figure it out. As long as you have the concept of ratios and zero, calculus isn't impossible to figure out for someone. However, for someone who didn't know the math theory, and couldn't learn about it from the source, it would seem basically incomprehensible. Our Mystic Genius figured it out, but couldn't communicate it to others.

That's obviously what she wanted with our history and astronomy records. She basically looked at all of the records and managed to conclude that we were due for a meteor strike. Given the Khemtri had Predictive Astronomy, they were probably tracking comets, meteorites and other celestial bodies. She managed to extrapolate from those records and figure that one of the 'stars' was flying unstably. After all, you don't need a heliocentric conception of the universe to be able to accurately track celestial objects.

Savants can sometimes make extremely impressive calculations with nothing more than intuition, that's how she knew. Meteor strikes aren't that uncommon and there was at least two more that we know of. The first that became the Star Axe and the second to the north where we first got Meteoric Iron prior to the first Golden Age. Thousands of years should be enough time for another 'random' meteor strike to occur by chance.

:)

That reminds me...
the ex-TH site now has a huge meteoric iron cache now?

Go go, take the area and gets a lot of iron.

Sure we can - this is bound to unlock an observatory extended project
Oh! That makes me think.

What do you think such constructions will give us? Mysticism drip? Tech drip? Refunds to various things?

I swear though if PttS gives a Myst drip I will crap out a little chunk of burning plutonium. I mean, think of all the stats we could have gained if we built it when we first got the chance to build it!

You know, the last comet strike happened when the Spirit Talkers were being pressed and militarily invaded.

The Thunder Speakers took over the territory of the Spirit Talkers. And now another comet strike happened.

The Thunder Horse tried to conquer and dominate the Thunder Speakers and just generally caused trouble in that area and with the Swamp Folk. Which was when the fucking comet hit.

Maybe we should look into the area the Spirit Talkers, and now Thunder Speakers, are in? Maybe there's a Natural Wonder there that helps predict meteor strikes.

We can call it The Doom Magnet.
