Link plz, need to find more spots to settle our explosive population growth.
We have plenty of spots now. Note how we are at eighteen EE? Now, you can argue that our Population Explosion will eat that up, and to an extent it does, but note that we are still building the harbor. That takes econ (and immediately refunds EE), thus reducing the loss from population explosion. Any other actions we take that use econ do the same. Hell, last turn we couldn't even fill up Econ at all.

Oh! And also. With our third True City, we now only get 11 per turn from the Pop. Explosion, and 3 overflow can be recycled, so really we can't even lose more than 8 EE a turn, and that is if we end the turn with Econ maxed.

Point being. We are nowhere near needing more EE, and if we were we could pick it up easily.

o_O

...Wow...you guys have thought this out huh?

Well, this is a political quest so why not political parties?

The parties actually became popular once Academia Nut started increasing the complexity of the quest. People couldn't keep up with how the mechanics worked so now each party has one or two analysts which figure out the best course of action for their particular view and then tell the party how to vote.

It's mostly just for fun. Not super serious except the Flock. :V

The Ymaryn Democratic Socialists are also serious!

...Kinda.

Goblet is too centrist to really attract people with strong views.

Pirates are a symptom to our problems. The fact they somehow managed to steal boats, means that there is something rotten deep in our system. Remove their backers, and the pirates will much easier to solve.
Wait, how does it leave us one point from a Golden age? We already have 2 maxed scores? ...Though i can't remember how immediate the golden age is...
We have zero stability. Best case scenario, it brings us to two.

Given the fluff in the update about the People being influenced by the Metal Workers and Swamp Folk in the Games to intercede in their wars:
"At that Hertythyn grunted in dissatisfaction. That was probably going to cause issues in the future. Nothing quite like having attractive youths coming over to talk with your elites about sob stories from home to whip up sentiment to do something. Hopefully it wouldn't be his problem though. Wars were a stupid way to sort things out. They just made messes that poor clerks had to go and clean up afterwards."
I think it might be CBs to defend/help participants of the Games...and/or maybe a temporary one after taking in (war specifically?) refugees on the nation that caused those refugees (again, maybe only for war losses), since either way we've got foreigners coming in with stories of woe of terrible wars (or maybe only defensive wars).

...Though that does make me wonder why the Swamp Folk haven't asked to hire the Red Banner company... iirc with the Metal Workers it would've led to the Storm Wolves attacking us as well due to not caring about the difference between us and our mercs, but surely the swamp folk know of their skill? @Academia Nut ?

I think he means 1 point of stability away from a golden age, since we already have 2 maxed stats (mysticism, culture)

You forgot Andre's party
Name: Ymaryn Idealist Traditionalist Party

Section One - Social Policy:
A government is responsible for taking care of its people, all of its people:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
When the world was changing and we had to take action, we made sure everyone had food to eat, even if they were poor or from another land. Everyone within the lands of the People should have a place and, even if they are not full, should at least not starve.

I support homogenizing our culture:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
While not a strong focus of the Idealist Traditionalists, it's recognised that keeping and spreading out our good culture is good for the unity, function, and morality of the People as a whole.

I support pursuing artistic and religious development and widespread literacy for their own sake:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
While increasing literacy is a good thing, there is little way to do it outside of building temples and forming True Cities - two things which each have their own pitfalls. There must first be technological advancements to increase widespread literacy safely.

Section Two - Governmental Control:
I support maintaining governmental oversight at all levels (i.e. high centralization):
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
Our civilisation was built on a high Centralisation form of government. It was with one that we were able to survive the greatest ecological disaster of the age and it was how we ensured that everyone got fed even during hard times.

I support delegating responsibility/power rather than dispersing it to the religious/private sector (i.e. increasing hierarchy):
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
The private sector is unreliable and much more prone to exploitative practices than a hierarchical power. Giving power to priests may be safe for a generation, but it will inevitably corrupt the institution and result in the best, most functional priesthood in the planet devolving from where it is.

I support a pure meritocracy, even if it comes at the cost to other things:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
The art we don't get automatically from rich aristocrats with too much money is the art we manually get from Art Patronage. Pure meritocracy might require some effort and sacrifice to reach but the goal is worth it in the end.

Section Three - Diplomacy:
I support an interventionist foreign policy:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
We should certainly not dip our fingers into every pot, but when a situation is important enough the option should remain open.

I prefer to pick the peaceful option when facing war:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
Some wars are worth fighting, others are not. Generally speaking, however, peace should be the goal, even if it doesn't offer the best material rewards.

I want us to pursue Trade, even if it comes at costs to other things:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
Eh.

Section Four - Morality:
My morality can best be described as:
Idealist | "Realist" | Pragmatic | grimdark | such simple labels cannot contain my grandeur
Others may want us to be a generic great empire, but if I wanted to read about one, I would just read about the many of such examples we've had in history. I for one want to create a unique civilisation where I can look back and be proud of how genuinely good our people were.

I want to help others, even if it comes at the cost of other things:
Self-Sacrificial | Charitable | Guarded | Two-way | Self-centered
When we gave food when we were starving and when our people infected themselves with Cholera to cure it are my two most proudest moments. However painful it is in the short term, such goodness and generosity must be a goal for our civilisation.

We should send off our genius general even if it comes at the cost of her happiness:
You're a horrible person for sacrificing her | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | You're a horrible person for sacrificing others by not sacrificing her
She's already saved countless thousands, she's fought, she wants peace, she's happy. People are not tools to use until they break. They are also not resources to sacrifice for the good of many. Down that path leads to Xohyr.

Section Five - Party Culture:
I support shipping others:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
Ok.

I support cute posts that feature non-standard pets:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
Cool cool.

I support horrible puns:
*plugs ears* | They Take No Thought | ??? | That's funny... | [insert pun here]
Well they are...

Gay people are magic:
Strongly Disagree | Disagree | Neutral | Agree | Strongly Agree
The only non-Heroic gay or bisexual person we've seen was Gwygoytha's wife. Maybe it's coincidence, but it's obvious where the weight of evidence is.

That reminds me...

@Andres110 Despite our disagreements on recent HK foreign policy, our views appear to mostly align for the moment. I will join your party.

Isn't he the heir currently? Better to just let him do it when he takes over the turn along with a restore order.
Some people wanted him to go to war, if I recall correctly...

The issue is...you want unchecked Ymaryn pirates preying on the first attendees to the Games?
No, but with pirates they are at least unlikely to run into them. On the other hand, the corrupt elements of the city we are hosting the game in...

Think about it this way. Do you want our unchecked underworld making contact with visiting dignitaries/athletes?

... *facepalm* i've got a window with diffcheckers up so i can do the analysis for this turn, and pulled up an old one to check something, so when i went to check what stability we're at, i looked at that cause it was already up, and forgot it was an old one. So yeah, ignore me @PrimalShadow
It ordinarily takes a full turn at 2 stats max + max stability. Mid turn to mid turn or main turn to main turn.
At one point at least i remember AN confirming that if we could make it half a turn with those we'd make it...though i think it was that we had max stab but not max stats (or vice versa) going into the main turn, and it was "if you can get both conditions by the mid-turn you'll get a golden age". I'll have to find that again...

Don't forget that with our current corruption, we are still likely to go into a Gilded Age unless Admin-san rolls remarkably well on reducing and preventing it.

This is just an idea, but we have a Martial value that reduces losses from war, I wonder if there's a Trade value that reduces stability loss from trade disruptions.
Uh...but we don't lose stability from Trade Disruption. We just shrug and make do with merely one gold chamberpot instead of a gold toilet.
5 bucks says there's a sudden demand for very thick iron tables.
Uh, the point of finished goods is not to deny them iron for their domestic use. They can always melt down the tools for iron.

The point of finished goods is to make it so much more affordable to buy Arete quality Ymaryn tools and weapons, that local powers won't be developing the skills needed for it without spending a lot of money to support expensive but worse smiths.

OTOH, so far Trelli didn't engage in a war with us, even when they had a really great chance to do so, so Trelli trade values may be more peaceful.

...you recall this is the same Trelli who literally couldn't afford to see either the Khemetri or the Ymaryn lose because they'd collapse after losing our trade right? We learned that they couldn't wage war on us because they'd implode due to traits.

They need to protect their Dominances so badly that losing Ymaryn OR Khemetri trade could destroy them. We don't want to be in that position if we make contact with a Great Trade Power or a Great Industrial Power.

So, a while ago, I wrote a little tiny omake. But then the thread got locked. So I went to one of my discords and talked with some other quest participants and made it just a little better. Then the thread got locked again. Now it's open! So I'm posting it.

It was almost night-black outside, just from the cloud cover. It was unseasonably cold and dry, too. That was half the reason why the Mhen had decided to host their latest meeting at the bath-house. The other half was to appease the city clergy. There was only so much a man could keep secret from his physician, after all.

"Nythi, you're up next!" the healer Uxor called out, returning Arwdd to the bathing room proper from the examination room. Nythi, a wiry man, rose from the pool to take his place.

"It looks like the fire worked. The story we told is spreading, and it seems likely that the King will be increasing investment for construction in Redshore." Arwdd explained, his perpetually stony face not belying the positivity of the news.

"I'll make sure the new construction teams are clean and know what they're getting into." Wynds said, stretching a bit, making sure to keep her poulticed burns out of the water.

Deryg grunted in assent. "No more back-stabbing bears left in the city, not after what they were planning for the stadium. Armers made sure of that. Building should be safer with them gone."

Moerc fondled his glass bauble, seemingly meditative, before speaking up, "There'll be an influx of new heads when the competitors come, for the new games. We've broken bread with the crocodiles, but there'll be more bears, badgers, and worms. I'll be sending requests out, on the trade missions headed those ways."

The others nodded, as the collected company's pieces were said. The Shadow King must stand guard over his kingdom once again this day, it seemed.

"Deryg, get in here!" Uxor called out as Nythi returned, face cast in forlorn shadow, and Deryg dragged himself out of the pool and off to the examination room.

Also, here's my vote.

Yeah that's why I said ordinarily. I think there was some other contributing factor present at that time and that we can't assume that 2 max + max stab for half a turn will always do it.

Pirates are a symptom to our problems. The fact they somehow managed to steal boats, means that there is something rotten deep in our system. Remove their backers, and the pirates will much easier to solve.
Pirates on Catamarans are not just a symptom anymore. They'd be going out there with Ymaryn tactics and technology.

Fixing the root cause is well and good, but we are releasing iron wielding, catamaran riding pirates into the Mediterranean which nobody else has the tech to catch, much less fight.
I want to chase them down and wipe them out before they have the chance run past the Trelli to set up as a future threat out there.

Our King is very likely to spend his main turn crushing out the corruption regardless. But the pirate fleet will only get harder the longer they spend building up their ability
No, but with pirates they are at least unlikely to run into them. On the other hand, the corrupt elements of the city we are hosting the game in...

The Khemetri, Metalworkers and Trelli are coming to the Games by sea.
Which is...pretty much every contestant except the Swamp Folk.

The underworld making contact is worrying, but losing delegations to your own pirates is what you could call a major diplomatic incident.
