Except we will burn. We're at 3 Martial. Even this apocalyptic battle had their losses being lower. We are up against a superior civilization.
In my estimation this is completely wrong. We can build Martial faster than they can unless I'm very surprised.

On the other hand, we can just take the peace and gain least 5 free main actions that would have been devoted to war.

We all KNOW that we don't have enough actions. Take the path which doesn't pour them down the drain.

Thankfully got both peace treaties out, so we've got good stab again...
Which I really wish we'd spent on getting a slightly better result here, dammit.

@Academia Nut is tribute basically giving Resh the money and acknowledgement necessary to overthrow pops? Cuz if it's basically a bribe to pay for his coup, I'm almost willing to go for that.
That's certainly what it appears to be.

[X] Offer tribute (-5 Prestige, -10 Wealth, keeps King of the Hill, chance of +1 Stability)

Look, we just took somewhere around 60,000 casualties in one battle. 60,000 out of 3 million is not an insignificant amount, especially when we're talking about a pre-industrial civilization. We're fortunate that the immediate threats have been pacified for the moment, because otherwise we would probably in quite a tight spot right now.

Continuing this war to satisfy people's desire for a victory is going to leave both sides drained and exhausted at this rate. We'll be fucked when the next group of nomads or whatever decide to declare war on us.

I'm all for kicking them when they are down but I feel like we should prep for the next big fight instead of dragging out this conflict.

Yeah, a good point, we've still got the constant threat of steppe herpes up north. Best to get this over with now that we have a chance to let both polities walk away happy, rather than bleeding ourselves white. We get our clay back, we pay some cash (Which we have in abundance, especially since our econ is still high), and we remain two Great Powers.

Like, this all basically happened practically because of a mistake anyway, let's not make it a war to the knife when we don't have to.

Not sure what to vote yet, but I'm tentatively going for this:

[] Offer tribute (-5 Prestige, -10 Wealth, keeps King of the Hill, chance of +1 Stability)

We can tank -10 wealth and - 5 Prestige easily. The loss of King of the Hill and recovering from all this damage will be a blow to the Khemetri that will take some time to fix - just like for us. The difference is, I simply believe we are in a better position to pounce back and... re-evaluate, our neighbors and their independence. Vassalizing HK and possibly Trelli.

Actually, this is a great opportunity. If we can peace out the Khemetri, we get to CUT TRELLI OUT OF TRADE!

Like, most of the goods we trade with trelli are indirectly with Khemetri,

[] Plant Khemetri Trading Post

Fuck no. What an arrogant idiot.
The dude clearly hates this war as much as us, his father was the one who started the war, he just wants it to end already. If we give him tribute, he can just take that wealth, force the nobles back home to shut up and probably strike up a period of peace between us.

Peace in our time
And apparently it'll get us decent-ish relations with the next Pharaoh

Nope fuckers attacked us first this a forgone conclusion.

Edit: Changed since everyone else is going fucking Star Trek pacifist "peace in our time" bullshit anyways, they are gonna regret it but apparently would rather force our next dozen generations to deal with this fucking shit.

I have been convinced. Reluctantly.

I recommend we revisit the Highlanders as soon as the peace treaty allows to redress our...grievances.

How low can wealth be before guild mercantilism kicks in?

There may be rumblings if you hit 4, but you will have the midturn to address things.

Wait, so if we give him tribute, Khemetri loses King Of The Hill, but we retain it?!

Yes.

h, so the tribute would be a one-off then? Since the prince would use it in a coup... I could support that. It would certainly allow for peace between the god states.

If it doesn't say 'Per Turn' its not a continuing cost.

While not guaranteed, the loss of King of the Hill would hurt a lot of prides so having something to paper over it/fund taking out the hardliners would allow for maintenance of stability. This also doesn't crash their Prestige the way just not fighting in the first place would have, so they don't risk subordinates breaking away and triggering some sort of civil war, so they can accept the deal.

just to confirm, the veterancy refunds we've been getting all dont take effect until next turn's main action update, right?

Yes.
