Too everyone voting to build more boats I suggest building a dock. It should have a multipling effect.

Shouldn't this: next 6 to 8 actions - palace will start producing benefits at 4-6 more actions committed
be 5-7 and 3-5 respectively?

I have been convinced

Our subordinates will likely be cranking out boats, so we don't have to do so.

This frees up martial for the Stallion Integration, and Gives the Symphony bonus to let us get the extra annexes for the Palace.

Plus, we have more than enough wealth. even with the tax crisis, to fund two mercenary armies.

I'm convinced. I want the innovations more than just numbers on the water, and docks specifically increase both innovation and trade power.

So starting an offensive war to use up martial would be... bad?

Yes, especially since losing martial isn't guaranteed.

I really don't like it when the main and sole justification for something big is "because stats". Why would the Ymarin create a mercenary company soon after they decided as a culture, that every life is important, and the main possible enemy decided to go the peaceful way? Unless we plan on making a northern Trade Post next turn, I see little IC justification for mercs.

This very turn, we used our mercenaries to encourage the Tin Tribes to be less dickish towards each other by hiring them out strategically. Mercenary Companies are a tool for foreign influence matched by few others.

Okay, let's try this again.

You want to throw down a bunch of mercenary companies right now, before we have a war to fight or a trade post to attach them to.
I want to hit a Golden Age, and then deal with all that nonsense.

Ca va?
Yeah, but golden age is at least 2 turns away(this turn to GET to max stability, then we have to hold max stability for a turn before GA triggers) and situations may change in that time. Right now we have relative peace with no wars on, so it's a perfect time to get them integrated, while if we wait 2 turns we might miss our chance.

I can see mercenaries being justified narratively as a preventative measure, since the Ymaryn heard of the Armies of the Trelli, and want to ensure that their far-flung territories remain safe. It could also be seen as a semi-migratory garrison, in that the Prestigious Red Banner would be more useful at home in case the Lowlands begin agitating or a Nomad Horde begins to form, so the Ymaryn can send a sort of relief garrison to watch the burgeoning trade post so that the Red Banner can be available for more pressing matters.

Question from the newbie: when building docks do we have to specify where? Or just that we want them?

More docks means more boats bring built in boat build actions as well as more innovations. I'm keen.

Huh, so palace is winning, but so is comboing it with main Trails. I'm sticking with my mercenary vote, but I won't say I'd be upset if trails won instead.

The majority of RB's history is internal use, not being hired to fight someone's war.

Isn't there one docks for each location already? Or we can have two (or more) docks per location?

For now:

[X][Main] Grand Palace
[X][Main] Grand Palace x2
[X] [Secondary] More Boats

Really wanted the additional annex.

Econ cost: 4 econ. The provinces will take at most two megaproject actions and a secondary expand econ. If you want maximum palace actions, spend your secondary on something cheaper.

They set up a settlement of their own on the river to their east. While they weren't yet trading directly with the People, it seemed that rather than throw a fit as some had feared, the Trelli had instead decided to step outside their complacency of being the sort of place where everyone came to trade and actually began to go out and claim territory for themselves.
Everything turned out better than expected. They are expanding towards us, which is a worry, however.
AN said that integrating them would give us +12 Martial, which is way too much even after founding a mercenary company.
exactly. We pretty much have to set up another trade post (north) and support it with a merc company and extra support subordinate actions in order to drop our martial far enough.

With that special action, this just seems like a spectacular idea. Just get some serious innovation on that boat technology.

[X][Main] More Boats

I'm thinking a design for size? Speed wouldn't go amiss, however. Though, we could expand on our outrigger boats. No idea how that would work.

...........uhhh, that boosts our cent TOO much, and might put us in the red. Also, is that an actual vote or a joke vote? I hate asking but some people make extreme votes like that just to be funny, and it's hard to tell sometimes.
