I don't think they are making stupid wars right now; they have their hands full trying to settle the lands we won in the last war. That is going to last them a bit.Making them a colony will also prevent them from making stupid wars and encourage immigration of Ymaryns into the area.
Actually, AN said that the way to get pine trees was to establish a Northern trading post.
Awesome. Some proverbs on dealing with The People :
- Never deal the Ymaryn a small injury. They like small injuries.
- Don't make the Ymaryn angry. You wouldn't like them when they're angry.
- When the going gets tough, the tough get going. To the Ymaryn.
Yep!No, seriously, Passive-Agressive Trade Post voters, are you willing to actually commit to possible war or at least to kickstarting our subordinate there?
yes. we're on megaproject policy, and currently at peace, so that frees up our actions. I'm also willing to dedicate the Red Banner to defending it.

Personally, if we settle the trading post there, I am entirely unwilling to take the support subordinate action. I'd be happy to throw a secondary war action their way this coming turn, and would be willing to reluctantly do a main if we need. But frankly, I don't expect this war to jump to a level where the Red Banner can't handle it in a single turn. No, seriously, Passive-Agressive Trade Post voters, are you willing to actually commit to possible war or at least to kickstarting our subordinate there?
Oh yeah, this too.yes. we're on megaproject policy, and currently at peace, so that frees up an action. I'm also willing to dedicate the Red Banner to defending it.
Hell to the yes, I've wanted the Trelli given a beating since the first update we officially met them. No, seriously, Passive-Agressive Trade Post voters, are you willing to actually commit to possible war or at least to kickstarting our subordinate there?
The likelyhood that the Trelli will just roll over and let this happen is there, but it's very likely to also lead to a war eventually as they get sick and tired of having our boots to their economies neck
Careful plans are first casualty of war, and Trelli *can* roll Heroic Martial or just hire enough dudes in enough time to bumrush our dudes faster than they can build a wall.Personally, if we settle the trading post there, I am entirely unwilling to take the support subordinate action. Yes, that is the risk we take here. I'm willing to accept that; if things get screwy we might be forced to send additional war missions, and if things get screwy fast we might even be forced to do so next turn. I don't think it is likely, but it is possible - in which case, like you said, we'd be forced to pay for it. Especially since their starting Econ probably will not be all that much, so I am not sure whether they will even be able to afford a wall wihout support.

There is no reason to take the risks of settling the North now, either. If you want to do something less immediately risky, vote for the Eastern Trading Post, or join me in my vote to Found Mercenary Company. It is always fascinating to watch this thread go from:"Why are always busy with challenges and crises... We really need to get Palace, Census and Law done..." to "Hey, these guys might have just invented Piracy... Lets provoke them into attacking us. I am sure we can deal with the 3 Megaproject Tax reform on the side"
This is not to say, that there are no good reasons for dealing with the Trelli threat sooner rather then later (before they grab more of the coastline and expand there mercenary forces). Of course, this war might also not break out or be over really quickly (unlikely given Trelli superiority at sea and the length of our supply line). I guess we will know more next turn.
"Literally" no point, eh? How about not wasting actions and resources? It is enough reason for me.I see literally no point in half-assing protecting our subjects which we create explicitly as agressive move.
Look over the history of the Red Banner. So far, they've steamrolled everything even close to the same size as them. Unless the Trelli literally send 4 or more mercenaries at us immediately, I don't see us losing the land in one turn. And if it takes longer than that, we can commit the army actions then.Especially with Stewards, Symphony and Loyalty giving us...thrreee-ish stability hits per one instance of land lost, I think. Guatanteed two hits at least, plus probably tickng hits from DS, plus Symphony prroobably has something to say about it too, as do CA and GJ.
We used to be a lot more conservative in our policy. I don't know when or why the thread has done a complete 180, but what amazes me is the lack of awareness here. I say this as one of the more traditionally aggressive people too!It is always fascinating to watch this thread go from:"Why are always busy with challenges and crises...
