As is the thought that they should let us do heretical stuff when we feel like it.
Because that heretical shit has given us Iron thousands of years early and Cavalry almost a thousand years early....

We can and actively have had our cake and eaten it too on multiple occasions, so much so we've gotten diabetes from that shit

Yea, a non-heroic leader is just not worth the potential problems here. As for balanced policy, it lets our provinces respond to ALL of of stat problems, rather than expansion which only will help with Econ. And for me, getting a second Megaproject action in is more important than supporting a war where we aren't needed, especially with the Red Banner to help. We do need to do more projects in the north once the current crisis passes-more wineries in Blackriver would be a great start.

Voting for[Divine] now. cleaned up my vote again. Do not think that Red Banner Company is necessary with War Mission. Sense Red Banner Company is a free vote with one target option what is stopping it from passing? are anti-votes necessary or votes to do some thing else? I can't recall some rule for it.

Heretical stuff also includes slavery, so we clearly want them to have some level of power. The question is just how much we want them to have...

That's kinda the definition of having political power.

The level of influence priests have on society is enough to cause a stink. Because the nature of religion means that they don't need to have political power just the ear of people who do have it. The priesthood getting into politics means they have more tools to stop you from crossing their redlines. It also means it isn't forced to go for the nuclear options when those redlines are crossed.

I'm not even in favor of giving the priests more political power, but the arguments that the priests are useless because they are doing their jobs is kinda perplexing. As is the thought that they should let us do heretical stuff when we feel like it.

It very much feels like trying to have your cake and eat it too.
Yeah that's a silly argument. We need a balance of power so that we can push the right interests/disfavor the right interests at the right time.

But the strongest argument for speaking against is that it maintains the current position of the priests, where they have ONLY soft power and are primarily focused on research, social support and spiritual intervention. It lets them do the most good where they are. Same with the Associations, they work great for organizing and presenting the various industries, without going toward making them more political than their natural economic power.

One set of Oligarches dedicated to differences in policy, I think, is plenty.

When the King pointed out that 1) Stupid kids would do it even if they told them not to, so it was better to control when it happened and 2) It could lead to useful things in the future, according to the Martial Hero King's dream, they didn't protest as far as we can tell. (We're still not even sure what RA means or does, so it dropping could mean anything). No stability drop, which angry shamans could have easily caused.
AN explained that loss in Religious Authority means the priests go up against the king and the king wins. We lost Religious Authority when we voted to establish rodeos, so what happened was that the priests maintained their objection to rodeos, but the king ultimately overruled them. The only thing the king's explanation did was prevent a stability loss from occurring, which was a potential outcome.

Build up more diplo or get a new trade good so that we can integrate WW and prevent them from becoming too powerful.

The current amount works just fine. We see from Encounters at the city of merchants that their influence is already enough to sway people away from slavery.

Hmm...the veekievote is OK, but not my preference. I really think we could go far on megaproject policy with manual expansion, instead of relying on the Balanced policy to expand and doing manual megaproject. But that's clearly not gaining any traction.

There's no reason to NOT deploy the Red Banner, we're already paying for them, so voting against it just means that they sit idle while we pay them. But based on normal circumstances, they need a majority vote to pass free votes

Had more or less the same concerns:
-Econ Expansion needed to keep up with project outlay - Balanced or Expansion
-Art production being necessary to keep up with project outlay - Balanced or Trade
-War Mission being explicitly unnecessary - No War Mission
-Megaproject PREFERABLY should be finished sooner, in the hopes of stopping or slowing the climate bleed early.
--Double Main boost being more efficient.
-Oh hey, the Red Banners aren't doing anything anyway, go help.

@Academia Nut what does the King feel the difference between the messages sent to the north by sending just a war mission, just the Red Banner, or both to help them out is?
