Here here. Meritocratic opinion is huge. Class stratification does not translate to class-based exclusion, not on a wide scale (even though it will happen), but this does promote a desire to pick up the best where we find them, and not merely the good.Arete (Greek: ἀρετή), in its basic sense, means "excellence of any kind".[1] The term may also mean "moral virtue".[1]
Arete.
This is not a bad thing in my opinion. Right now we almost certainly have stratification across our entire society or a good part of it, but Arete develops mechanisms against that in my understanding.
However, my honest feelings are that I really don't want to get into this right now because I can smell an argument brewing and don't want to get involved so I am going to bow out now.
My expectation is more along the lines of a steam explosion or BLEVE, possibly realgar and chlorate, but we'll probably get something juicy even if it isn't gunpowder.
Nitroglycerin is terrifyingly easy to produce. The two necessary raw components for the final process are created by our tailing pits and a sealed organic refuse pit (given some places still store their business in clay jars, that's not unreasonable to find). Odds are mommy just made liquid TNT and someone dropped the bottles.i dont think its nitroglycerin- we'd hsve to synthesize glycerol for that to be the case, and uh. That's bit out of our reach, i think.
It seems like it was 2.7 Kilotons of TNT equivalent based on this list.
Largest artificial non-nuclear explosions
But also, apparently my math basically was right. The Texas City disaster page lists a different tonnage of ammonium nitrate.Oops? I am a microbiologist, not an explosives engineer. I can do orgo like a champ, though.
Nifty.
Can you link me to the process that does that? If it isn't too much trouble.
Article: In laboratory, nitric acid can be made by thermal decomposition of copper(II) nitrate, producing nitrogen dioxide and oxygen gases, which are then passed through water to give nitric acid.
2 Cu(NO3)2 → 2 CuO (s) + 4 NO2 (g) + O2 (g)
Hmm so the vote is already decided what should we do next turn I propose we main improve festivals for stab and make a new province to eastern hills assuming of course we do not have to send another war mission
It's something interesting and useful so my mad scientist is going "Gimmie!" and I am inclined to oblige.Chances are it wasn't gunpowder. Remember, her research was about the "male energy" being "hot" or "dry". Which means she was experimentimg with fire, trying to find out if liquids always hinder it (water can be explosive on the wrong compound), trying to prove it needed no heat to start (not sure how that causes explosions), or something similar. It's really hard to see how this line of inquiry would lead to grinding together solids, some of them flammable and set it on fire.
By the way, did you notice that AN basically stated that festivals are more or less just paper covering for our problems and not an actual solution, while enforce justice/roo/proclaim glory actually reduce corruption and increase faith in the king?We don't have to get to stability 3. I propose we spit out a March and do a festival. This gets us 1 stab, and gets us out of the danger zone at the same time.
Someone suggested plopping down the NE March and doing a festival next turn.Hmm so the vote is already decided what should we do next turn I propose we main improve festivals for stab and make a new province to eastern hills assuming of course we do not have to send another war mission

Depends on the form of sodium... if she managed to separate salt... sodium on its own explodes in contact with oxygen. If someone can find a list of big sodium explosions I can be even happier.
I meant when they tried to put it out. Things that burn on or under water tend to leave an impression. Fire just doesn't work that way (bronze/iron age logic). If we had details about what she'd been working on we'd know but that applies to everything, and its very easy for the Naptha to just not fall in the water.
Isn't our stat limit decided by the number of our provinces? So we will be increasing how much martial we can handle a more long term solution than plopping a march besides the last time excess martial became a problem we were at -1 stab if we go with my plan we would be at +1 stab so we should be fine.Someone suggested plopping down the NE March and doing a festival next turn.
Or a March and other things, then Main PG and Main RO the turn after.
Hmm. Either works for me.Isn't our stat limit decided by the number of our provinces? Possible anyway, if unlikely.War clearly isn't going to win, but I can't help but hope things will turn around and she will end up smacking the Hats around so hard they submit to the People to make us stop.
The provinces did trails this turn we are at cent five this will take us down to cent four and we are at balanced so the new province should be able to do what they need.Hmm. Either works for me.
The only thing with making a new province is that we would need to then devote actions to walling it and foresting it, or do those on the turn we make it as well as trails.
The enemy hero is as old as her father while she is young and vital. Once the enemy hero dies it doesn't seem unreasonable that she could win the war.
Oh hey cool. Nice. The provinces did trails this turn we are at cent five this will take us down to cent four and we are at balanced so the new province should be able to do what they need.
