Yes and we have established that upgraded traits have bigger bonuses and bigger maluses.
100% sure the malus here is that the stratification isn't limited to just military anymore, but to our ENTIRE society, so I guess in way it got worse, but its not like the stratification gap increased just who got in the stratification.

[] Forge a new path of war
Pros: Eventual +Military, ability to place her on throne (and she seems like a cool kid)
Cons: If forced to go all the way to Coup d'etat we will suffer big hits go legitimacy and set a bad precedent.
[] Begin diplomacy with the Highlanders
Pros: Excellent chance for peaceful expansion via dynastic union.
Cons: May further increases importance of bloodlines. May result in backlash. May get friendzoned.
[] Run away to the north
No. Just no.
[] Attempt to finish her mother's work
Pros: SCIENCE!!111
Cons: May get nothing, may get disaster.

Personally considering option 2 & 4.

Can we get a brief description of the new Wealth stat?

Wealth is the general access to luxuries and high quality goods the nation has, and the ability to leverage it. It's basically all of stuff from Diplo that was somewhat counter-intuitive to the players that is now in its own stat that makes more sense to people raised in a modern economy. The costs and payouts for actions are going to be completely reworked after this update.

Arete (Greek: ἀρετή), in its basic sense, means "excellence of any kind".[1] The term may also mean "moral virtue".[1]

Arete.

This is not a bad thing in my opinion. Right now we almost certainly have stratification across our entire society or a good part of it, but Arete develops mechanisms against that in my understanding.

However, my honest feelings are that I really don't want to get into this right now because I can smell an argument brewing and don't want to get involved so I am going to bow out now.

Then there was the news of the youngest son of the king of the Highlanders, who had been assigned the task of holding off the Hathatyn and had managed to reverse some of their gains. A "diplomatic mission" to the Highlanders could be arranged, and new allies against her enemies could be found, especially given how much they had in common with fighting the Hathatyn.

Yeah. That isn't really diplomacy. AN even put it in fucking sarcasm quotes.

She is going to just go, seduce the Highlander prince, and use him as leverage to keep herself in power. Smart, but not what we want. We especially don't want the Highlanders involved in our political process. This smells more of the Highlanders diploannexing us than the reverse, given their probable attitudes towards women.

I very much doubt engaging in war will ding our Stability, even if all the others do. Rolwyna is already a welcome sight on the battlefield. It might drive her dad to an early grave, admittedly.
Yeah, I admit that it's unlikely unless her enemies are angered further.
Yes and we have established that upgraded traits have bigger bonuses and bigger maluses.
When have we established this? Only CA points to such a conclusion, and it mitigates it by mitigating the damage it causes by forcing us to take in 2 Econ worth of people, for 0.5 stability rather than 1.
We are the "Salt People" to them. And given that they got their revenge on Hero boy's group, they might be here to stay. Ties could be pretty valuable.
Yeah. Less valuable than guns though.

Only one option to chose from? Well this is a change of pace.:) But probably not going to vote tonight, I have few strong feelings on the mater and my bed is starting to call for me.

We are usually against needles bloodshed and combat might not end well, as in hero death.
[] Begin diplomacy with the Highlanders
Really tempting but might get our hero tangled in politics. extreme worst case is somehow its drags us into lowland wars.
[] Run away to the north
F no! It is plan Z at best. Giving nomads horse back riding and a hero for good chance of great relations, sounds like a very raw deal.
[] Attempt to finish her mother's work
Have no idea what this could be leading to or our chance of doing it. Is it electroplating o_O? Well electroplating could be very interesting but not exactly use full right away. But for all we know this could be only the start be simply primitive chemical batteries which by themselves are even more useless except for maybe a Mysticism thing. It could also be leading to completely different results of who knows what.

You need to calm down.

[X] Attempt to finish her mother's work

I don't know if it's gun powder, but I'd rather die before giving the nomads horseriding and having our hero sex up a Prince in order to do diplomacy is distasteful. Having her focus on war is a little better but honestly I want her to figure out what her mother found. I have a feeling that it was a critical success so good that she had to be killed off thematically.

Interesting in how she wants her father's throne and all the choices involve her building a power base or running away to the nomads. Our little girl has grown up to be quite ambitious so I would rather she became studious rather then scheming to gain more and more power using the army.

My expectation is more along the lines of a steam explosion or BLEVE, possibly realgar and chlorate, but we'll probably get something juicy even if it isn't gunpowder.
This is my thinking too because holy shit gunpowder, even if I speculate on how we could get it, is just too much to be credible.

It almost has to be something else, but the funny thing is that it can still be super useful.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA my Mad SCIENTIST is going apeshit in glee right now.

Well like father like daughter, it seems our King here was quite ambitious as well.
I support ambition no matter what (Yes, even enemies cause its entertaining :p )

i dont think its nitroglycerin- we'd hsve to synthesize glycerol for that to be the case, and uh. That's bit out of our reach, i think.

[X] Attempt to finish her mother's work

If we can show Dad's sponsorship was more than favoritism, that something of value was discovered, I'm willing to bet that'll shut plenty of his enemies up, freeing our hand for later.

Plus, we are capable of keeping up with dear old mom.

Doubt it's gunpowder though
She could have found out how to make flaming arrows.

speaking as someone who studied to work on stuff that could BLEVE... do you really think we can get the kind of pressure necessary to level a building, as described in the update? It's gotta be something chemical.
I'm not there yet in my chem E education, what do you think this is discounting the idea that it is gunpowder for now, because gunpowder is an exceptional claim that needs exceptional evidence?
