We spent 5 econ, which means that the intial econ bonus from the saltern was 2, assuming that the baby boom continued... We're getting the +1 diplo started, we got +2 stability from the saltern and spent one on the kicker, as expected, we got the usual +1 prestige from megaprojects, and we got +1art and mysticism from our canal bonus

How about sending a trade mission to the Xohyssiri?
That way we can try and get more.
I think we have already gained most of their surgery knowledge and won't benefit much in that regard.

That being said, the image of us personally escorting the priests with the Book of Life back to its owners is almost enough to make me switch.

Assuming we don't get +1 stability from Garden:
[X] Study Stars (continues chain) + Survey Lands
[X] Metal Workers

Carrion Eaters are nice, but continuing the chain is even nicer. We're not hurting for martial and it seems like all our neighbors are calming down, whereas continuing the chain continues to make a good action even better and improves our literacy rates a little. It's especially synergistic with the Metal Workers trade since we can look for whatever metal thing they got.

If we do get stability we should probably grab the Gardens. We can kick it and virtually guarantee its completion next turn (as opposed to the current merely likely).

Shouldn't the provinces have done
Nope, The Law will double a secondary in the policy if at all possible.

[x] Expand Carrion Eaters (-1 Econ, -1 Mysticism, +1 Martial, many more Carrion Eaters, additional effects)

[x] Metal Workers
Maybe they developed a new metalworking tool? Like a special furnace or a new technique...

[X] Expand Carrion Eaters (-1 Econ, -1 Mysticism, +1 Martial, many more Carrion Eaters, additional effects)
[X] Xohyssiri

Since we keep grabbing the greater good from them, I think we should build closer ties if possible.
Going for Carrion Eaters because of the additional effects involved, and the garden cost so little turns (for a mega-project) that over committing effort to complete it in under a turn is likely.

Nope, The Law will double a secondary in the policy if at all possible.
If that were the case, then it would literally never double a main*; AN said it prefers to do a secondary, yes, but i would have imagined that this was like the one circumstance it would do otherwise, since its not the provinces going "we could super focus on one thing/place with a double main and a secondary, or we could spread things out more, with 2 separate mains", its "we're going to hyper focus on the megaproject, but should we do it in a way that gets an extra action, or not?"

And at least for now:
[x] Expand Carrion Eaters (-1 Econ, -1 Mysticism, +1 Martial, many more Carrion Eaters, additional effects)
[x] Metal Workers

*Because its literally always possible to double a secondary, because thats what the provinces start out with when doing their planning

Well regardless of what wins the trade mission, could try and next turn send some trade missions to the ones we didn't pick?

It seems a good time to build good relations while the fighting has stopped.

[X] Expand Carrion Eaters (-1 Econ, -1 Mysticism, +1 Martial, many more Carrion Eaters, additional effects)
I guess?

Unless Early Gardens give us a free +1 Stab.

So...
HK Opium trade + law stuff?
X More opium trade + health stuff?
TH news?
MW may give us more metal stuff? it's just rumors tho

[X] Highland Kingdom
Kinda want painkillers. And perhaps we can learn about their law stuff.

The healers also told of a rare flower that the People might be able to trade with the Highlanders for that made dealing with painful sickness and injury - it came from somewhere in the south-west, but there were traders who occasionally wandered up from that direction who might be able to be contacted through intermediaries.
It's opium!

Rather than "just" Trade Missions, we could try the tasty new Salt option we opened up.

You know, give people a bit of seasoning before we culturally eat them.

So i heard the metal workers found some booty? I too want to find booty.

Unpopular vote, but I think that further solidifying our knowledge of medicine is important & contacting the HK will help us learn about our closest neighbor's internal politics, with a medically significant plant (cough opium cough) being a significant side benefit, especially when performed in conjunction with Carrion Eaters. Also we could spit in their faces for copying our idea, the scum.

Interested in Xohyssiri and Metal Worker expeditions, in that order. The Xo-ri would give us important insights into an at present mysterious player; the metal workers = yet another metal tech gain, despite the fact that we have yet to make even a single mine.

'Cause I doubt bronze is incoming so soon and even if it does, I don't see us getting it that easily.

While I'm not completely sold on the Dead Priests being nice guys right now I think they're really the group we most need to understand at this point. Escorting the now-elderly healers back home would be a big diplomatic move, and I feel if we're sending out trade missions we'll want to regain contact with the Thunder Horses and Highland Kingdom at the same time.

Keep in mind that just because the Xohyssiri gave us most of their knowledge of healing, doesn't mean they don't have plenty of other knowledge on other subjects we're ignorant of.

I think people greatly underestimate the benefits of continuing this chain, particularly as we now have the Observance social value. Bare minimum we get the usual benefits, but it's highly likely that as we go the stars mega project will get cheaper, we'll also get better at naval navigation, and if the Spirit Talkers weren't bullshiting better able to tell the weather which is vastly important.

Survey lands also can unlock more resources to exploit.

I went with the Xohyssiri as there's a period of relative peace and calm where we can actually take this action. We also have high diplomacy, have the benefits from gifting them medicinal knowledge that people should still be alive to remember, and even more so we have completed the Saltern so we have access to it.

They can offer us loads as we haven't really interacted in great amounts before, and from the representatives they likely have quite a few technologies that we ourselves don't. So our various technology absorption values have something to activate off. They also know a great deal more of the map than we do, so it would be valuable getting access to that.
