There is a 50% chance of going -2 stability with your plan
There is a (10% and 60% is 6%) chance of losing nothing. There is a (10% or 60% is 40%) chance of losing 1. There is a 54% chance of losing 2.

I have long pointed out just how little I care that stability shifts down or up (so long as it never shifts into collapse far down). My plan also doesn't give our sweet new bonus to those dirty foreigners.

[x] The whole lowlands are kind of a mess, you know? (-3 Stability, +6-8 Econ, other effects)
[X] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)
[X] Megaproject Support

Changing vote for prudent gambling

*sees mass of -3 stability hits people are willing to take.*

...
Ugh...
*Looks at the influx of votes to go to negative stability*

See, this is why I was really hoping for a buffer...
<3

Okay so our choices are basically:

Plan Go Really Ham:
[] The whole lowlands are kind of a mess, you know? (-3 Stability, +6-8 Econ, other effects)
[] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)
[] Megaproject Support

Next Turn = Rush The Garden.
Downsides: People won't be dying from cholera.
Upsides: People will like us but also will know how to cholera other people.

Plan Be Really Judicious:
[X] A significant number (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)
[X] Keep it secret (Chance of Stability loss)
[x] Megaproject Support

Next Turn = Slow Saltern??
Downsides: People are mad because we survived cholera and they don't know why.
Upsides: People will be dying from cholera while we aren't.

Still waiting on AN's replies as to what we'd share before I pick a side more than I already have.

"Okay, the curse seems to spread through water, keep anyone infected and their waste away from drinking water, and here is a recipe for a potion that can really help."
Wow, okay, everything.

So basically people will be like "They solved what killed all of my relatives!! Amazing!!" But also like "So if we put their waste inside a jar and throw it in those people's river..."

Guys, We need to keep sanitary tech to ourselves. It'll give us an incredible medical advantage over others and help keep our people alive longer so we can have a greater population. While we have a paradise, everyone else will be tied back and weak due to the plague and we'll be able to do some more shit without worry of someone trying to kick our teeth in for a bit.

[X] A significant number (-1Stability, +2 Econ)
[X] Keep it secret (Chance ofStability loss)
[X] Expansion

The filthy lowlanders deserve to die for there sins. :p

Like, people, moderation?
We got the baby boom going and even one more turn would literally pay for all of our megaproject desires when combined with divine stewards and symphony.

At -2 or -1 we're likely to get problems in being able to complete the megaproject in a timely fashion, being forced to dump a significant amount of econ

It's only -2 thanks to the sharing action.
Yes, but at -2 we need to spend an action.
At -1 we could just finish the megaproject and gain stability
at 0, which we would get if we took the -1 hit, we could go into positive stability after finishing the megaproject!

This will also end the baby boom! You're all going to fill up all of our econ slots and we will have no longer have our very strong long term advantage of +3 econ/turn!

Three reasons:
  • Sanitation has a vaccine style secondary effect, stopping pandemics from starting that we might roll low on in the future.
  • This drastically improves our awe and rep.
  • This produces a massive market for the one good we can guarantee a long term monopoly on: salt
That makes much more sense, especially with AN clarifying what exactly we'll be telling them.

However, I don't agree on taking in everyone; that would put us way too low on stability for me to be comfortable with.

I just realized with everyone reeling from the damages of the war and cholera if we take in all the lowlands refugee we can

[x] The whole lowlands are kind of a mess, you know? (-3 Stability, +6-8 Econ, other effects)

Plus forcing everyone else to conform to our new cultural standard of hygiene

[x] Share with even those who don't want to listen (-1 Diplomacy, +1 immediate Stability, chance for additional stability, other effects)

Along with Expansion to handle all the influx of refugees and the glut of young men with nothing to do and no women to marry.

[X] Expansion

We'll essentially establish a regional hegemony and quite possibly get set on our way to the path of a massive empire.

If the Baby Boom is still ongoing, I have much less concern over our economic status, so let's invest in stability.

We've only so much expansion room left, though, so we'll need to deal with that soon; expansion pretty much has to be our next priority.

It's still going, although there may be issues in the nearish future.
Oh, wow, this is a significant reason to NOT go for the megaproject support + taking in 6-8 Econ of people. Our econ slots will be completely filled and we won't be having our provinces make more slots.

Holy shit.

No.

Well, AN has pretty much stated that if anyone does try that, we go out and start an offensive war that makes all other offensive wars look cute. So... I'll take that risk.
You'll take that risk that we'll go out and start wars with people? A risk that wouldn't exist if they didn't have the knowledge? Interesting choice.

But also a motivation to spread the knowledge to everyone so that no one will be like "lol these people don't know" which is more likely to have us end up going to war.

You're forgetting we get a +1 stability for starting a plague related megaproject

That sounds like it would immediately end our baby boom and create huge centralization problems, like oh my god we would not be prepared for such a huge influx of people.
