[X] Reinforce Northshore
[X] Send additional resources to assist (-1 Centralization, allows Northshore to spend Econ on defensive measures while being attacked)
[X] The People always welcome the needy (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)

Deal with internal issues first, also letting DP survive another turn will likely drain more things from TH and HK. The 3 way melee should continue.

[X] Reinforce Northshore
[X] The king will deal with the problems as they come (No change)
[X] The People always welcome the needy (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)

Leave military in the hands of the central authority.
Can't justify the bigger stability loss and the others chewing on the DP for longer is fine by me.

They can only build things when they get attacked, going by the wording of the action. Sure this does mean we need to boost cent again, but it should still keep reasonable control over the provinces.

So, I'm thinking we double down on military matters this upcoming turn. I know a Megaproject looks attractive but we have quite a few issues we need to address;

  1. The Nomads raiding Northshore
  2. The sea people raiding southern Redcoast
  3. The Baby Boom
  4. The HK
  5. The TH
  6. Getting our slice of the lowlands
I know a lot of people want to grab a new province, but I think now is the time if ever there was one to grab the Badlands settlement. It helps with the Baby Boom, eases logistics moving in the badlands, and will eventually provide a fortified buffer dealing with the TH and the HK.

So, I'd say something like;
Main; Settle Badlands
Secondary; Fortify Northshore
Secondary; Fortify Redcoast

The turn after we can settle for maybe a secondary Expand Warriors to ensure we can garrison our gains, have another secondary lined up for whatever fire needs dousing, and a main to get our slice of the lowlands.

Thoughts?

To those who plan to vote for a megaproject next turn, you must abstain from doing so. You must instead vote to do Study Metal that we may acquire metal tools and make the workings of such large ambitions an easier task.

If the DP die:
We'll probably be attacked by the HK or TH after they expand throughout the lowlands, though this of course depends on how the DP fracture and whether something equally strong comes out of their core and vassals.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that if the DP die the lowlands will just be turned into a massive chaotic mess.

what does our military advisor think about our military, both in terms of how it compares to our neighbors and on what she/he/they would suggest to the king as most important to improve it?

Would probably mulch any invader attacking core territory, and is extremely good at hitting singular weak points, but lacks the ability to do a strong pursuit of driven off invaders to get them to permanently back off.

It's likely that some of the Provinces simply ran out of actions to do, for example they might have reached the limit of their Expand Economy, and last time we had Diplo 6 which was not enough to trigger an automatic trade mission from one of them.

However, from what we've seen Valleyhome has always gotten an action, Study Stars. So it's likely that actions without cost like Study Star/Forest/Health can be done per turn by our Provinces, provided they have the necessary infrastructure, which are Expanded Holy Sites.

The number of "free" actions is indeed half the number of provinces (currently), but who gets what has no need to rotate, the chiefs just sort of figure out who gets a shot each turn, and since Study Stars gets better the more it is taken and can only be used as a secondary once each turn, the guys who started it off just keep taking it.

I agree with the concept, but our biggest weakness is our lack of military and it's ability to spread as thin as it needs to. I think our main action is going to have to be to get main expand warriors. Hopefully we'll get an innovation roll for it too.

Provinces for Projects: Valleyhome, Redshore, Stonepen, Sacred Forest, Northshore

Redshore and Stonepen are not on the list. Either they did something that we just don't see it or we're capped to only three provinces at any given time that can do secondary actions.

Ayup. I'm gunning for:

{M}Eastern Hills
{S}New Trails
{S}Study Metal

Gotta keep that baby boom rolling and centralization up. The extra action helps as well.

@Academia Nut Military Advisor:What would we need to do to rectify that last point?

I just read @veekie 's analysis, and I agree with it.

To clarify:
We can:
Main Secondary [Secondary x2]
[Main]
[Secondary] Secondary Action
[Secondary] Secondary Action x2

Doubles effect of secondary

And
Double Down [Main x2]
[Main]
[Secondary] Main action x2
[Secondary]

Doubles effect of main and do a Secondary

We can't anymore: y.y
[Main]
[Secondary] [Main]
[Secondary] [Main x2]

x4 Main (yeah, it was OP)
We can definitely do:
[Main]
[Secondary] Secondary Action
[Secondary] Secondary Action x2
Where the Secondary is different from the Main. That's going on the list.

Pretty sure
[Main]
[Secondary] Main action x2
[Secondary]
is not a thing anymore. Going by this post.

I thought actions like this:
[Main] Expand Warriors
[Secondary] Expand Warriors
[Secondary] Expand Warriors x2
Were still valid.

Or we expand forest into outer layer of our territory. Other civ can't say they didn't know forests are our area.

Actually, encouraging DP refugees to join us may give us unexpected tech/idea/trouble.

Next turn our main should either be more warriors or establishing the Eastern Hills. I'm leaning towards the former simply because we could double main it, and it looks like we're going to get pressed from both the northwest and southwest. We have a good diplomacy to not get immediately attacked by the TH or the HK, but you know the old saying, 'The Blackbird treads softly, but keeps an arrow to his bow.'

Ok, good to know!

Since we're currently capped on free actions equal to N/2 number of provinces(rounded up from the looks of it), action econ wise it's better to hold off on the province for another turn and do another mil expand.

So my preferred turn:
[Main]Expand Warriors
[Secondary]Study Metal
[Secondary]New Trails

This boosts mil again, counters the cent loss we'll be taking, and gets us further towards widespread metalworking.

I'm just starting to go beyond getting annoyed at the smug attitude of 'I'm laughing at your foolishness,' to a deep seated hatred.

The people panicking do nothing but cause me to roll my eyes. The only thing we got from AN was-

and he's been known to give us vague answers to troll people into jumping on the worst case bandwagon. To the people that do that? Whatever, I think you should calm down and just wait for the update.

To anyone who is showing the attitude of effectively mocking people, especially when we don't even know the results yet? Intentional or not, it comes across as doing it to attack people and I can only give the benefit of the doubt for so long before I stop caring. It's annoying and petty and I really wish they'd stop.

In this particular case i was genuinely concerned that people wasn't reading their votes. It will be pointless to be smug if our civ fractured.

Hmm, is Nomirrah Noxivah's daughter? I kinda get that feeling.

You are correct.

[X] Reinforce Northshore
Reinforce trust in the central authority of our civilization by showing we'll come to their defense -- which, let us remember, was the initial impetus for the assimilation of Northshore, who wanted our protection against the nomads. Furthermore, I hope a strong martial showing against the nomads convinces them that we're too hard a target for the time being so they'll raid somewhere else. The diplomatic missions to the Highlands or the Thunder Horse don't seem to be quite worth it, against to that. Exploring the southern coast, however, is probably necessary in the near future, since our expansion space to the south that doesn't suck is limited to the coasts. Though, if we set down the precedent that our provinces can spend Econ for defensive measures of their own, perhaps Redshore will do the necessary actions for us?

[X] Send additional resources to assist (-1 Centralization, allows Northshore to spend Econ on defensive measures while being attacked)
[X] The People always welcome the needy (-1 Stability, +2 Econ)
I'll note that crashing our Stability to -1 by trying to steal Stability from the Dead Priests can combine with this action, we might get no resources sent to Northshore at all. That is, with the greater autonomy of our provincial model, the local chiefs might refuse to send resources to Northshore when they need it to shore up their local harmony after the influx of migrants from a culture severely counter to our own. This has a bit of precedent with a previous corruption instance: when we were in negative Stability after we took in the nomads, the chiefs were cheating their tax obligations to ensure their own local community felt better about taking in the nomads.

Of course, we're still going to take in people anyways. It's a long-standing tradition, and taking the Stability hit for more Econ (even if relatively little) also gets us news about the core Dead Priests and possibly some new techs they might have gotten. It's probably impossible that we'll get their medical or surgical expertise, since that's entirely bound up with their priest castes that'll never flee to us. Still, while highly unlikely, I hope we can get the knowledge and experience of formation fighting from any warriors that fought in the DP armies. At least, I hope we'll get glazed ceramics from this.
