Romcom shenanigans are really a subtype of general character/relationship development. I enjoyed writing Yuno discovering the horrors of grief, or Kei facing her complicity in colonialism, just as much as I enjoy writing cute girls going on comedy dates. The interesting part is in delving into specific characters and relationships in depth, in and of themselves or in reaction to events in the wider world (or, on occasion, to bizarre counterfactuals in interludes). It's easy to forget that there is a lot more going on with any given character than the actions they take in response to the latest player plan. Worldbuilding is great too, but sadly, MfD is very much a lighthousing quest in geographical terms. The main characters rarely leave Leaf, much less the Fire Country (thank the Sage for the Seventh Path).

There's probably more I could list with enough thought, but spoons, work crunch etc.

Also, more importantly, RBs should be "a lot easier" which is likely chunin or lower once DE is done, according to Kagome. So we shouldn't need to research it.

We can do each one in a day, but it costs us 3 training blocks. For each seal. So 4 check days + 2 research rolls would be the day's allotment of SC time, and we wouldn't be FOOMing. So it costs us XP.

This likely refers to a lower number of shifts to completion, not a vastly lower TN. We'll do at least one prep day to determine after finishing DEs. RRBs would almost certainly be true jounin. So if not, we do it then.

If we can have Prime do them they don't cost XP. I think running 2 seals at once is better than running 6 seals at once. Let's see, it costs 15 training blocks to do six seals at once. To do six seals over 3 days costs 9 training blocks. Let me know if you get something different.

If there are multiple relevant seals, they provide diminishing benefits.

For Complexity:

Only one seal, the most similar one, is considered.

Veterancy can reduce Complexity by up to 95%.

The reduction is based on how much can be carried over from the original design

I agree Kagome's surprise seems to contradict what we know of the mechanics, but that's what I was working from.

I don't think that's fair. There were two updates covering your Conclave activities which didn't cover as much ground as intended for QM spoon reasons, followed by the hivemind deciding to switch focus to urgently finding out what happened to Akane.

@Noumero, @Egg Shavings, @Dictator4Hire, @RandomOTP, @faflec, @cog-nito, @T_of_A, @Lord Marshal, @charlesrwest, @Rafin, please review the changes and make sure it's still to your liking. IMO the most significant change is that I cut the part about trying to secure exclusive rights to sell Earthshaped goods both because I think it's unlikely to be viable and because I needed the wordcount. If you can produce a version of the plan that has space, I'm happy to put it back in.

If y'all could also check that the links in the plan go to scenes that seem relevant, that would be great as I've had some trouble with that and want to confirm they're all good.

@Velorien @eaglejarl @Paperclipped, spoons permitting, would you please check the plan for number of scenes, ambiguous/confusing phrasing, etc.?

2-3 hours if you go straight from the gates to where the enemy team picked up Akane's trail. The Leaf gates are massive clusters of scents entering and leaving. Canvass detects no one who literally went out the gate and then straight-line through the woods towards the border, but it's quite possible that someone went down the road a ways and then cut cross-country. Given the number of overlaid scents and ninja ability to treehop it's unlikely that she could find such a thing even if it existed.

Can't remember the chapter offhand, but IIRC there was a chapter where Asuma told us realized he needed to prioritize the Dragonwar way more, and asked us what we needed. we amicably discussed inviting Akatsuki summoners for additional firepower.

The hivemind switched focus because our job was done. We were supposed to lay the groundwork for Enma's arrival and he arrived. All of the actual time where we could influence the other delegates prior to that was timeskipped over.

We decided on our initial approach to a couple of the other delegates in one plan, and Enma arrived at the end of that update.

I find these leads more pressing than talking about the Hagoromo, which Asuma explicitly said could wait a few days.
Also, the more forgiving tone we both want to take seems more in-character/Hazopilot-compatible if we take a few days to cool off.

I would happily vote for either version of "Reflection" if it included Akane investigation, instead of or in addition to Ruka/Hagaromo. If you're open to that, I can propose specific edits.

Offering Ruka a reduced sentence if they consent to a mind scan. They may be a willing patsy, but it's possible they know something.

Investigating the other clerk, the KEI ninja, to see if they knowingly or unknowingly let someone know about Akane's mission.

Warning Asuma about Oro's intentions towards aunty Ren.

You could likely save some word count by removing suggestions for Ino's scene. The idea is for her to lead, after all.

We're taking a day or two, in which we're talking things through with Ino and Mari/Kei. Hazo moves fast because he has to.

I also think that the bit where he threatened Ruka with death etc. was out of character and what he's proposing now (sensible, measured, thoughtful, treating Asuma like a respected mentor) is in-character.

Do not add any additional on-screen scenes to the plan or modify currently off-screen scenes such that they would become an on-screen scene.
Do not significantly change the overall feel or tone of the plan.
- While I imagine this is an obvious knock-on, I'll be specific: do not remove any of the Ruka/Hagoromo material.
Do not mention our Akane/Tower leak suspicions to Asuma without running them by Mari and Kei.
Do not bring the plan above 299 words.

I don't think that leaves you enough room to do what you want, but I'm happy for you to try.

I'm most worried about the Orochimaru-Ren part but at this stage in the game I don't know how to handle it without significantly changing the plan, and it's a little frustrating because when I've tried to get it through previously it's either been left out of the update or went very differently than how I imagined. (We could have answered Shikamaru's question with "well, he thinks the Iron Nerve is related to our ability to reproduce 3D seals" and left it at that.)

EDIT: Could probably just say "condensed" in both cases, and it would convey the same thing in 2 words, rather than 4.
