*"I Was Waiting For This Moment" Intensifies*

But seriously, I have been waiting for this moment: when somebody realised precisely what we're offering up on a silver platter.

Its like they're all fighting tooth and nail over the last few barrels of oil in the world, gearing up to destroy each other and themselves, whereupon out of goddamn nowhere someone shows up and says, "Oh, yeah, the oil scarcity thing. I just developed cold fusion, and I'm giving it away literally for free. So, basically, that entire conflict over dwindling resources? Utterly pointless from about a week and a half ago, along with the power source itself."

This right here is Sabrina's wish coming true - girls who had lost hope of doing anything other than fighting abominations (and other desperate girls) for their sole means of staying alive realising that this is it. This is the miracle that will free them from that life and that doom. It's all over now - no more fighting others for territory; no more fighting witches unless they choose to; they can give it up completely if they want, leave and go home to live normal lives again.

Feels good, man. Feels good.

The question in my mind now is: Do we cleanse seeds as well? Kinematics, can you split that part of your vote into two parts? I think it's easily possible to vote for cleansing soul gems, then vote for whether or not to cleanse grief seeds.
Eh, we did grief seeds for Sendai. Doesn't seem to be any reason to exclude them now, for the University girls.

Chouko cracks. "I... we need out, Miss Sabrina. We can't go on like this." She gestures helplessly. "We... we can't."

"I understand," you say. "I... OK, look. I manipulate Grief." You wave at the spheres of Grief drifting about you. "That's my power, and thanks to that, I pretty much eliminate Grief Seeds resource issues."

Chouko freezes. All the University group girls do.

"Could you... demonstrate?" she asks carefully.

Hoo boy...

So, uh, guys. It's becoming very likely that they know about the witchbomb.

They seem to be really horrified on what happens when they run out of seeds. The Sendai girls were bleeding them dry, and made them really desperate.

Case in point: they went to fight the Sendai girls with only *three* grief seeds to spare between the *four* of them.

That's... very unwise, especially when it's a PvP they're heading to, and the only way they can profit from the fight is to sieze the other side's stash.

Which is why they kidnapped Rin: so they can ransom her for grief seeds.

Honestly, I'm not really seeing why we need the specifically specific votes at the moment. While we're not inclined to fight a war for them, we 'do' want to help them. If they meant something we can't agree with, we can clarify it then.

My experience is that this leads to feelings of betrayal. I would rather be more specific up front.

@Kinematics
That's fair. Then I'm going to mash yours and Ugo's votes together for the sake of unity, and adding a few more words for my own satisfaction:

[x] Agree to cleanse all soul gems, as well as refresh all grief seeds, as extra incentive for them to cooperate for Rin and to help win their trust.
-[x] But.. that's not all you need help with, is it? We can't make any guarantees, but we'll hear you out.

Erc, Cras, I think that's a little too far in the other direction. We don't want to come off as being too reluctant to help them.

[x] Agree to cleanse all soul gems, as well as refresh all grief seeds.
-[x] Proceed with the negotiations

Eh, I was just trying to mash votes as usual. It's true that Ugo's wording tends more towards cautious utilitarianism, whereas Kine's is less so.

I agree that "Agree" is probably all that's needed. It just feels too plain, and I wanted a little more atmosphere for my vote. Given the number of people who have already voted for the simple version, I didn't think there was much worry about skewing things. Plus, the thread debates somewhat color her actions, so being a bit more aware of the possibilities in the current situation is always good.

The Paranoia Cat is pretty much satisfied that there was no ulterior motive other than the possibility of us assigning conditionals to the action.

[X] Agree. Refresh their grief seeds and Rin's, too.
--[X] Sing the Om-nom-nom song while you do it.
--[X] Clean the Sendai girls too, so they can't complain.
--[X] Continue to make clear that we're neutral in this fight. Except for Grief-Seed extortion, which needs to stop.
--[X] But that's not all you wanted help for, was it?

Then we start breaking out the Renegade interrupts. Seriously, we've all collectively had enough of her shit, right? Time to put on the JUSTICE face and make it clear that however this ends, the extortion's over.

Do we have any witchbomb precautions at the moment?
To me it seems like the majority of the gathered girls might know about witching out.
If we negociate further and ask about the dead girl and Kato Setsuko, we should make some precautions for that in the next vote.

Witchbomb precautions? Nope. IIRC Every time that's come up it's started an argument and gone nowhere.

Honestly, if this somehow ends up turning Akiko against us, then so be it. We're here to help girls in desperate situations, just like these girls seem to be. We already told her what we planned on doing and how, and if she doesn't like it we can either try to talk her down or beat her into the ground until she gives up or flees. If she runs we're keeping Rin and Sakura though. :V

"...and thus the tale of Sabrina, the crazy meguca-collecting meguca, began."

Christ. I'd like to witchbomb Mami at some point, because god knows she's going to hav a fit about us knowing about it and not telling her if she finds out from an outside source.

Like, just restrain her and keep draining her grief for as long as necessary.
