On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[x] Zharrvengryn: Ties
[x] Aid: All that you are able to.

As I said previously, ties is a word that evokes a lot of what Snorri has done in the recent past, but also for a long time before that. Hearth and Home is a trait about ties to those he cares about/his people in a more general sense, and among other things, was a big reason behind his stand against the Greedy One. Ties between and the protection of dwarves was also why he founded the hearth guard and its heavily shaped them since as they pull together and tie together many people from all walks of life.

Grudges and oaths are ties amongst the dwarves, intrinsically melded with the word 'ties'. Oaths are why Snorri came to Dum, and why he helped, but also basic empathy of which he has a great quantity in spades.

I think that in terms of character, Ties is pretty close to Snorri's own personal protective and generous themes. Put that together with Ties and going all in and it paints a nice picture of emphasis on the bonds between others, which I think is a nice path of narrative development.

E: Essentially, I'm approaching this vote from the perspective of, "what does Snorri, in the aftermath of a terrible battle with a horrific abomination of his people and fellow dwarves, focus on when staring at the blade of the Ancestor who helped end it"

So, at this point is there an Ancestor God that Snorri hasn't met? It's sort of starting to feel like they have a Plan for him. Anyone else getting that feeling?

Alright so we have the apprentices for Turn 32 and turn 33 we get an action back. Probably means turn 32 is going to be one turning the Aid the Hold action.
Basically as far as I can tell we will either end up delaying research one turn or two turns (possibly just one even if we spread the thing out over two turns depending on action allotment), which is blessedly not that long.

Maybe we should suggest a location for the new Karak. A harbour by the Bay of Claws would be very useful for us, the Barak Varr of the north so to speak. Also a new hold that is heavily endebted to us would raise our standing in the north overall.

[x] Zharrvengryn: Ties
[x] Aid: All that you are able to.

As for Smednir, as soon as we get back to the infinite terror and pleasure of the all knowing research queue, I really want to work on the Rune Metal trees, Chain especially. That seems like it would give the best chance of meeting Smednir.

[x] Zharrvengryn: Fire

Picking the option that seems most likely to give a bonus without needing extra research.

[X] Zharrvengryn: Cutting
[X] Aid: All that you are able to.

I mean yeah ties is friendship and all that, but we're a runelord first and foremost. Our job is to make stuff and equip our people. Besides maybe cutting can lead to perma killing chaos entities.

[x] Zharrvengryn: Ties
[x] Aid: All that you are able to.

Have to say, that update was absolutely beautiful. Wonderful work, Boss.

Gonna go with these two personally.

Bloodthirster has 8 -1[Failed Ritual] -1[Decades of Draining] =6/8 wounds, 4 pieces of equipment 2/2 gives +10, 3/3, 3/3, and 3/3 all give +15
Angkor has 9/9 wounds
Reminds me of something CrossyCross once said. How Greater Daemons combine the power of a monster with the skill of a hero. In this case, not the best comparison given it's more equipment than skill, but still. Angkor may be the pinnacle of his race, and he might have been denied some of his abilities so far underground, but still he's "only" a monster
If it had become an Avatar the battle would be more survive until Gazul gets there, so you're lucky on that front.
On the one hand I like to think we could do that. The armor is just perfect for surviving. On the other hand, looking at how much trouble the Ironhand punk gave us when he got the lowest level of empowerment...

So, at this point is there an Ancestor God that Snorri hasn't met? It's sort of starting to feel like they have a Plan for him. Anyone else getting that feeling?
Snorri has yet to meet Smednir. I wouldn't say that they have a Plan for him, just that they're aware of him and think that Snorri has managed to meet their expectations after they, ahem, as Grungni said.

"That banner wasn't terrible Gift Giver, so I suppose you're doing about as well as I could expect after I lowered my expectations three dozen times more than I usually do. An almost tolerable foci, enough to channel all the other young ones' works through at least," the old miner says.
Gazul certainly knew about the necklace that Grungni made for Snorri, unless the Ancestors give a trinket to all the Beardlings they determine that are worth a few seconds of their time.

After what we saw, and how much of an impression Gazul likely made on Snorri- I kinda want our second weapon to be a sword now. I think it even works thematically with both Ties, and what Grimnir told Snorri. A tool meant purely to fight for his connections. Not something with versatility like Zharggal, but a weapon entirely built around, as Grimnir put it-
So big fat flying sword where we can either ride on it or throw it and let it do its independent deadly dance before returning?

t is a grief-ridden thing, a mournful elegy to her Clan and kin, a song of her own failures and the sheer tumult of her emotions laid bare. Yet it is a song of not only vengeance but hope as well. A solemn vow to see the desecration returned tenfold even at the cost of her own life, to see the survivors raised above the cruel fate they've endured for centuries. The words, the rhythm, all of it can be heard over the din of the battle with startling clarity. It instills a feeling of mournful vengeance in you, and from the looks of things a terrified pallor in her enemies.
This sounds more like a "Mourner", a proto-Slayer cult that focus more on the grief you have learn, felt, discovered on the field of battle.
A massive minotaur like being, the only physical difference between him and the Gori in question that you could see was the fact that he had the face of an, albeit heavily mutated, Dawi instead of a bull's
Hmmm, so Hagrimm has turned into a Dark Lands centaur Bull like mutant?
"Now," you mutter, flicking Zharrgal and setting the hammer alight with furious golden fire, "Let me show you how it's done, beardling."
Now this, this is what a Dawi Greatbeard will say, and let us ot forget the unreadable grumbling to hearten the Karag Dum dawi ancestor beardpulling beardlings behind him.
Gimli swings his axe down on the sorcerer's staff, the Gromril edge chipping but not cutting through the magically empowered steel.
A nameless figure stalks through the tunnels, towards the sounds of battle
He lets his enemy push him away, rushing back in and past their guard before they can cast yet another spell.
*Raise hands
Can i request to set the ([/RIGHT]) postioned words to be Italicized and colored grey? "To me" it adds a kind of spizaze for when I read.
The prince spins, brandishing his axes only to stop short at the sight of a truly ancient Dawi standing there. Around him his Huskarls blink and turn, shouts of alarm and the sound of axes being raised.
Holy Ancestor Gods of the Dawi, that is Gazul!!!!...his words PoV scheme should be grey, hidden inside the chapter until you squint enough.
Gimli watches the priest stand up, dust off his knees and pull something out from beneath his cloak.

His eyes, and those of his retainers, widen in shock.
Called it.
[ ] Aid: All that you are able to.
A large commitment of material and time towards helping the Dawi of Dum recover. [Cost: 1 action and 1 retainer action] Locked in for 8 turns. Take on [Simple] Hold Founding: [Cost: 6 actions].
Live up to your name as gift giver and silver ancestor, and be an example of what a Greatbeard should be, a Dawi that Longbeards nd Dawi see as an example...plus your grumbling and words will carry a lot more weight. And live up to the words you spoke of in the Rhunkki convention will the three Ancestor Gods present.
