Sorry, Amy: Even if Sabrina was open to starting a harem, you're a long way from proving yourself worthy to have Sabrina as an ojou. :V

Her behavior makes sense in context, though-- even the flirting-- for a couple reasons which have been touched on, but I'll reiterate.

First: Assuming she's telling the truth, she was impressed into the crew of the Iowa, which means she was a victim of a raid-- Imagine, one day, out of the blue, there's an entire goddamn US Navy battleship hanging in the sky over her town (in France, Quebec, or wherever), everyone she knows and cares about (if applicable) is held hostage, and hellfire rains down on anyone in the area who puts up a fight. Perhaps she's captured, perhaps she surrenders, whether at gunpoint or acceding to their demands to save the hostages. My gut suggests that she was independent in her town, rather than part of the local group, but that's just speculation-- Either way, every Puella Magi in the city is rounded up, killed, or flees in the chaos. Perhaps she sees how the Iowa pirates process their prisoners, perhaps she doesn't-- It's possible they recognize her talents immediately, and target her for impressment, or perhaps it's only after she's sent out to hunt. Perhaps, if she's of naturally cowardly temperament, she sells out her former teammates, or perhaps there's nobody left-- either way, she joins their crew to save her own life.

Second: Humans are terrifyingly adaptive. We acclimatize ourselves to even the most outlandish situations within days or weeks, and we're experts at post-facto rationalization. Puella Magi, perhaps, less so; unlike humans, Grief builds up in their Soul Gems instead of radiating harmlessly away, leading eventually to a self-destructive Grief Spiral. For whatever reason, though, Amy doesn't despair. Likely, her seed of hope is that the hostages leveraged to take her in are still alive-- but implicitly still under threat by Parró and company, if she stops being useful. She has to hang on for them. For the next several months, she's on the other side of the Iowa's guns, and not only does she get a front-row seat to all of the terrible things they do-- she's actively enabling them now, sniffing out targets and flushing out other peoples' friends and families to be held hostage. It's horrible, but she can't despair-- she has to hold out, whether out of fear for her family, fear of death, or fear of becoming a Witch, a fate worse than death.

In another timeline, even as they were systematically hunting down every Puella Magi in Asunaro and stuffing them naked in tubes (for Science reasons), the Pleiades Saints resisted the temptation to turn off their sense of pain, because feeling that pain served as a sharp reminder of and tether to their humanity. Amy, in all likelihood, couldn't afford to feel. Feeling means showing weakness, weakness suggests uselessness, and being useless means being dead, for her and anyone else she cares about-- holding out means becoming what the Iowa needs her to be, and what the Iowa needs her to be is a callous, submissive sycophant. She doesn't despair, like Sayaka does once upon a never, but pieces of her humanity chip away over time. The rationalizations plaster over the cracks in the facade: Ultimately, raiding for Grief Seeds is a matter of survival. Other concerns aside, she might start to think that this is the only way the crew can maintain the relatively stable life it has; perhaps she adopts a 'survival of the fittest' mentality, with the Iowa on top. After months of fighting together and proving her usefulness to the crew, no matter how heinous the deed, perhaps she starts to grow bonds of camaraderie with some of the other members.

One day, though, a member of the crew hears about Sabrina. She doesn't disclose the source of the rumor, but it's a hot topic; she's the goose that lays golden eggs, and Parró wants her. Hell, she might just be the ticket to a comfortable retirement! So Amy piggybacks onto a storm crossing the China Sea and parks it over Mitakihara to probe its defenses-- but a connection snaps back to her, and she knows she's been caught. She warns Parró, and the two begin to argue--

In about three and a half seconds, massive explosions rock the Iowa, and enemies crash through the bridge windows; Inexplicably, the ship is under assault from every direction. Even with the Iowa's terrifying array of magic, they're outnumbered two to one, and the moment they seem to gain the upper hand, the rumored Sabrina Vee turns on wallhacks and literally pulls apart the entire operation piece by piece. Merely for glancing at Mitakihara, it's like the Heavens part and the vengeful hand of GOD reaches down to pimp-slap them for their transgressions-- Within about three and a half minutes, the Invincible Iowa, Terror of the Skies is reduced to naught but memories and a chain gang being led to uncertain-but-likely-ignominious fates in a dungeon.

Having upended her new life in such an abrupt and dramatic way, Sabrina probably looks a lot like an avenging angel to Amy, merciful and magnanimous in her victory as she is-- and while I'm sure it's far from universal, there are definitely people out there who find displays of raw, apocalyptic power really sexy. She's holding information out on us because she still fears retribution from Parró if she learns that she squealed, but she's been conditioned by force and circumstance to be submissive and useful to those stronger than her, which gives me hope that she's open to paying restitution for her crimes, and, eventually, coming to terms with her trauma and rebuilding her sense of self.

Remember: No matter what terrible shit they do, all Puella Magi are victims of the Incubator. To it, the Iowa was a fire-and-forget obstacle that's useful to it whether it succeeds or fails-- if Parró falls to despair because she's consigned to a cell with no hope of escape, having seen her life and ambitions vaporize before her eyes in an instant-- well, that's just another Witch to add to the pile, and that suits the Incubator just fine, doesn't it?

I'm sort of assuming the Iowa crew didn't have the luxury of even thinking about family, friends and so on - any reaction we get from Redshirt's offer to put them in contact with loved ones would be excellent for figuring out what kind of dynamic the crew was running in better detail, how repressive it was and a better degree of insight into their personal lives.
Giving them at least a little wedge for them to dislodge themselves from Sociopath Pirate Mindset is something I'm hoping for.
Also kind of crossing my fingers that they realize that being in Sabrina's care means they have no more real reason to keep the survival at all costs mode and that that will kickstart the road to trauma recovery.

Yes. literally each and every last one of them, when approached by Kyubey, told him that their very fondest wish was for the power to murder innocent people. Even the LARPers were in on this from the start. None of them got into this because they were little girls who dared to want things and then got mulched in a systemic psychological torture chamber.

Evidence please. I have yet to see "murder Mc Murder" powers among them. None of them wished for "death bean eyes".

There is no evidence of what you're claiming, not that it would justify negative actions against them if there was.

It just ultimately boils down to a question of consent, for me - forcibly altering someone's soul (or body, or mind) against their wishes is utterly unacceptable. It's wrong when Kyubey does it, and it'd be just as wrong if Sabrina did it.

Actually, it would be even worse when Sabrina does it, because she wouldn't even give the option for uniformed consent (aka hey do you wanna make a contract).

Not that both things aren't extremely evil, just that it really rubs home whats being suggested when the incubator would have some moral highground on this one.

We would mainly use them for decoration until, I dunno, Mami's sweet 16 (ain't like the law can catch our ass).

The pmmm wiki at least claims she is already 16?

Some people cannot be redeemed or reasoned with. That is simple fact.

Way to state your opinions as fact there buddy.

Sorry, my friend, it's obliteration time.

[X] An equal split among all the participating groups is perfectly fine with you, unless anyone else has objections. You would prefer if the Grief Seeds didn't end up with Kyuubey, if possible.

[X] Ask Yuki if she can send an announcement to all of the Iowa Group members. Once you have the mike:
-[X] Introduce yourself as Sabrina Vee. You want to help all magi. They are all under arrest for their misdeeds, and that they will remain such until you and your allies are satisfied that they are no longer a imminent threat to other magi. If any of them want to talk at any point, you're open to it. If they have any messages they'd like to send to their families, you can forward them. You have unlimited magic, and thus unlimited time - you'll be waiting.

[X] Thank everyone very much for their contributions. That went incredibly well, and you hope that you can all work together more in the future.
-[X] Touch on the existing level of alliances and agreements that exist. It's not made itself extremely apparent yet, but a group with infinite magic can apply different magics to each others' non-combat goals, or go about developing new abilities. Exchange of ideas and powers could quickly become a Big Deal.

[X] If Kazumi and Yuki are on-board, extend an invitation to Mika to attend the Tokyo meeting with us as a partner in our coalition.
-[X] Ask Kazumi and Mika if they're interested in letting Yuki set up a node near them - Mitakihara's getting one, and near-instant transport would make future collaboration much easier.

[X] Discuss possible names for the coalition. Make your own suggestions.

Not bad but a tad bit long. Also missing the Magisa Teddy.

[Q] Open a portal to Earth Bet. We're feeling ambitious enough to try to fix the world of Worm while we also tackle our world.

The Incubators proceed to wipe out the Entitys and take over that universe too.

It's a net gain, since they don't kill off entire worlds under normal circumstances and are also not braindead morons.

[Q] Open a portal to Earth Bet. We're feeling ambitious enough to try to fix the world of Worm while we also tackle our world.
We tried that. It was determined to be far too easy, and thus not ambitious at all.
Granted, the Social involved after crushing Scion would've been a pain, but we'd also likely have managed to get Contessa on our side from all that, so probably less so than our current issues.
[Q] Open a portal to Earth 616. We're feeling ambitious enough to try to fix the world of 90's Marvel while we also tackle our world.

Way to state your opinions as fact there buddy.
Then provide evidence that it is just an opinion please. I have never seen anything to suggest that those words could be anything less than utterly factual

The world has zealots, the world has idiots, the world has many people who will not listen to reason, will not accept negotiation, people for which the only options that maintain a peaceful and just society are varieties of punishment. Exile, life imprisonment, death, etc.

If you would call that anything less than simply the way things are, then I challenge you to give me evidence, tell me how you can redeem the terminally greedy, the willfully stupid, the destructively arrogant.

That's not an option. We promised Yuki that we'd have a more permanent solution for the Iowa Group soon. Which means putting them on ice, excepting perhaps the one that decides to fully cooperate with us. A "we'll stick you in here indefinitely" is massively imposing on Yuki.

@Firnagzen : Can Umika read Amy's mind to find out the answers to the specific things she was glossing over/staying quiet about, like who they were really looking for in Mitakihara, where they really heard those rumors about us from, etc?

Another logo. My goal is to have a good looking logo for all of the main candidates for the group name.

Can we not name ourselves after the organization that is ruthless, murderous, condones atrocities so long as they produce results (or aren't too noticeable), and is utterly archaic in terms of culture and adaptation?

Mahou Shoujo Youkai works far better and embodies what the organization we want to establish is about: mutually supporting unity. An "association" is a lot more informal and brings to mind a club or certification board.

The logo's design itself is fine, if far too devoid of color.

Huh. DIdn't know mami was 16 already. Guess we can steal buy some champagne using a witch nametag that makes people think we look old enough to not be ID checked.

We should definitely try the whole Sabrina Vee (Age 40) name tag witch magic or something else harmless to see if we have mind affecting powers, and how they affect normal people vs magical girls. We can try keeping some enchanted grief around in case we suddenly need some mind protecting witch constructs. In fact if it isn't too distracting, we should probably always have some enchanted grief cooking for if we need something special. At least for one trick if nothing else.

It got brought up that "mahou shoujo kyoukai" is gendered, so being the "majutsu kyoukai" might be better... which is literally the kanji used for the Mages Association in Fate.

Is there an actual poll up anywhere?

Would really help keeping track whats on the table.
There is a way to take a look at the current tally.

Hey, um, so you know what we should do? Figure out the timeline of these events because I wonder if the Iowa Crew were gonna strike right after Walpurgisnacht or something. Also I was looking at some of the story post from earlier and something about these quotes bothered me.

"Correct, insofar as that was what I mentioned the last time," Yuki says crisply. "I've since heard from my sources -and I hadn't informed you yet because I had decided that I would try and find something more concrete- that they had left India in an north-easterly direction as of a week ago."

Emphasis mine.

So the Iowa Crew leaves India as of a week ago. Do we know when they arrived in Mandalay? And when did they hear of us? Because:

"Now, now," a silken voice issues over the speakers. "Before you do anything hasty, Miss Vee -that is you, correct?- you should think about what we might do to your friends."

Parró refers to Sabrina by her last name but Sabrina's last name wasn't decided until Sunday when we met up with Ishinomaki. Where did they learn about Sabrina and when?

"Eh... grapevine," Amy says, shrugging. "I'm not sure specifically where we got word of you, actually! But it was all we were talking about for a while, once the rumour got around. If we could get you on our side, we'd be set for life! And now that I've met you, I can see why."

"Er, right," you say, blinking. There's a lot she's not telling you, you can tell that much. And yet she is happily chatty, which you suppose is a plus, but you feel oddly uncomfortable for some reason. "What did the grapevine say?"

"Oh, you know, super-strong girl popped up, with the ability to cleanse Soul Gems for real," Amy says. "In Japan, for some reason, and apparently she was pretty inexperienced."

Now this. This is where things get a little strange. Because we actually do have an idea of what the grapevine says about us. From the Gossip Girl in Fukushima:

"Ah... you're essentially a modern day Robin Hood?" Hina says. "You steal from the rich and give to the poor, and you protect those who need it?"

And even the reclusive Kagoshima group:

[15:15:16] <TheWall> we hear you shut down sendai?
[15:15:25] <GriefBeGone> I wasn't alone
[15:15:37] <GriefBeGone> mami, kirika, me
[15:15:56] <GriefBeGone> but yes, we intervened to stop the fighting and negotiated a peace
[15:16:12] <GriefBeGone> I'm helping the groups get back on their feet, too
[15:16:29] <GriefBeGone> actually out of curiosity, how did you hear?
[15:16:54] <YatanoKagami> rumour spreads fast
[15:17:13] <YatanoKagami> friend of a friend of a friend, from fukushima
[15:17:21] <GriefBeGone> ah ok, that does make sense

Sabrina's a meddler. And any gossip worth their salt is gonna know about how she fought Sendai if only because: "I hear there's a girl from Mitakihara who can cleanse soul gems!" "Really where'd you hear that?"

So in short the Iowa Crew are both well informed about some things and ignorant in a way that seems like they had to have gotten their info from non-gossip sources. But if they got they're info from the alien why not sell it out? It can't really hold a grudge and they're at the mercy of a group they have no way of knowing won't kill them. Ugh maybe it's Feathers! Why not!

But anyway enough of my conspiracy posting.

If MSY/MSK is problematic (and I'm sympathetic to the argument that it is) then I'm for "Magia Union" as a name. I specifically dislike "Mage's Association" (or the japanese equivalent) because of the nasuverse reference and all it entails.

Internal politics. Many if not most meguca hate or at least dislike Kyuubey (I can never figure out if it´s one or two u) for obvious reasons. Now, someone smart will realise that the bunnycat never uses direct lies, so it is still a viable source of intel, as long as you remember A. to never trust anything he implies and B. that he is most likely playing you for some n-dimensional game of his against someone unkown.

Now lets say someone, say the captain, got some really good intel from the little furry ball cruelty. If she sells it as "rumors" she won´t have to deal with all the shouting off "trusting the bunnycat" because priates? Not really netorious for being smart or ignoring grudges.
