On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] Valma: Accept

[X] Position: The Middle

Agree that the trade is a no-brainer.
I'm feeling a little conservative, so I'd like to see Snorri locking down the core, and being flexible in his response.

I mean, a huge chunk of why we're here at all is to FLEX

And being at the front means maximum FLEX

Thus we go out front and FLEX
You think the main dainger is gonna be at the Vanguard? Thats where we send our scrub (comparatively) troops.

If you wanna Flex, then the Middle (ie wait for a worthy enemy champion) us where you want.

And Back is where the Clutch plays happen, which is why i voted Back

See theres a Dwarf who knows his epic sagas and set pieces for battles up front

So I'm gonna trust his instincts to know where to look for the best places to look cool as shit

And then have Snorri proceed to take advantage in full view of the dwarf most likely to record those dramatic moments for posterity

Didn't bring out the lasses for a walk, but it looks like that'll be what they'll get
I'm sorry, but. Did you just insinuate that it's common for Gronti makers to treat their Grontis as pets who need the occasional walkies than whatever the canon Dwarfs treated them as?
He who Chills the Winds to Stillness, Maker of the Torque that rests on our Lord's neck
... Wow, so that's what they saw Thungni as. Interesting.
"Can you point on the map where this pull is coming from?" Logazor says, catching everyone's attention.

Blizzardwing nods, and lifting one of her talons, gently marks out a circle on the map to indicate where.

You narrow your eyes, as do many around the table.

The mark of Karag Dum lies in the circle, not exactly center, but definitely well within it. To your side, Logazor is cross-referencing the image with his own charts.
Oh no. Oh no. Oh fuck the hell yes it's going to be fun!

[X] Valma: Accept

Spread. Knowledge.
Also, an in on Elgi know-how? Yes please.

[X] Position: The Front

Snorri is probably the single tankiest unit in this entire army, (probably) no exception.

Further thoughts:

"You're channelling a lot of Deep Magic with that armour," she says straight out, "it's the only explanation I can think of. I don't know-how,

How does Valma know about Deep Magic? As far as I know, it's new to us questors!

The winds are as strong as I would expect, but the pull is being drawn northwards. It is troubling, unnatural."

You quirk a brow, "There's a reason for this then you think?"

"A pulling on such a scale...we Brana grab at the unseen winds, coalescing them and twisting them so that we may do many of our non-physical abilities," she explains, creating a ball of frost for emphasis, "for the winds to be pulled at such levels, I do not trust this to be mere coincidence…"

So this has to be demons or dawi-zharr, right? Nothing else around that could pull this off?

[X] Valma: Accept

[X] Position: The Back

The back is most vulnerable and is outright stated to be in danger of being overwhelmed by blitzkrieg tactics before the rest of the throng can respond, and it carries most of the supplies vital for the expedition.

Well, it won't get overwhelmed with Snorri around.

Iirc, there were other races that were chaos worshippers (like Fimir) who used to be the favored servants of the chaos gods, before humans supplanted them as prefered agents.

It could be one of them.

It could also be some proto-Malagor, or something new like the Greedy One.

Humans may not even be the preferred pawns of chaos yet, as they're probably mostly confined to the tropics and sub-topics where the magic density is relatively low and the influence of the Chaos Gods relatively weak.

We know there were pre-Cataclysm cities in what became the Chaos Wastes, so we may be seeing their inhabitants.
