On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

The problem with using the boon on Yorri's strange places is that I don't think Yorri gave us his Journey book simply so that he could point us to 10 potentially useful natural resources, there's something to the concept of reading his journey book, retracing his steps and thinking over his notes that would be irrevocably lost if we got taxied to the rest of them in a single day.

What I'm getting at, if the book was useful to us purely as a marker for goodies we could presumably just ask Brokk the ranger to go check them all out as a favour to us in return for those torques we just made to help him.

so we should as the sky king for a personal gryphon to ride on, we would set an example and in the future other dwarfs would follow our lead. In a hundered years or so a gryphon rider corps would be the natural result.
No. That is not conducive to our Runelordiness, it's not interesting, and frankly I'm sick of the idea at this point. I'm not wasting it on forcing a sapient being to be our pet.

Armour Maker, I would commission your services. Name your quarry, and they will die by beak and rending claw, or name your desire and I will do all in my power to offer it in exchange for your work. When you are ready, simply speak to the Ebonbeak, and it will be so," he says before disappearing into the clouds with a single pulse of his wings, the gale-force winds that you expect to accompany such an act simply not happening.
First up, something I don't think has been brought up yet. We don't know how Griffons view time. Is it like the dwarves where taking a couple decades to fulfil a request is fine? Would that annoy him? We don't know. It'll be a juggling operation to figure out the perfect trade and the right runeset for the armour.
The idiot! Who leaves the hold in a time like this? Damn beasts coming out of the north like a wave, snows higher than five dwarfs stacked atop each other and he gets it in his fool head to go out and try and find some inspiration!

You have half a mind to barge in there, berate him for his stupidity and drag him back into the workshop because he clearly hasn't learned enough! If that idiot hadn't been saved by a Griffon he'd have been Troll food, let alone the impact his actions would've had on his loved ones
Well, the 80 roll means he got some form of inspiration after nearly going splat. He might of figured out some giant engineering snow plow? Might of figured out that going out into snow taller than he is was a stupid idea so now he needs some form of portable ladder or stilts. Could be the start of the gyrocopter for all we know.

I for one am interested to find out.
I'd like to sit on the Griffon Armor until we've finished our other commissions.
Yeah, we've got our hands full right now unfortunately. The downside is we don't know how long the griffons live and how they view time. A decade wait might be fine for armour. It might annoy the king. We don't know.

I'm actually kind of sad the Griffons are as advanced as they are. I was still holding onto the hope of a flying sleigh pulled by a team of Griffons. Ah well, maybe we could use another animal. Like goats, though I have a feeling Yorri would already of done that if he could.

No, itll burn your favour but give you good optics.
What if we spend the favor in some unrelated way, but tell him that in order to make the best armor we need some Feathers from him?

Does getting feathers from him as ingredients count as a favor?
I think I prefer an Armour Variation of the Master Rune of Currents. Add the Rune of Impact and Rune of Speed, and he'd be hillarious.

Half the reason to go for Rune of Passage instead would be so that we could more naturally use Griffon Feathers instead of a Griffon Brain as an ingredient. T5 Feathers would synergize better with the Master Rune of Passage, I think.

More seriously though, I want to give him something to protect him against Chaos; since unlike Dwarfs who spend a lot of time sheltered under mountains, and prefer to move via the Underway... Griffons are always out in the air.
I think the Master Rune of Passage can work for that. Combo with the Rune of Spellbreaking and the Rune of Cleaving. Cleaving to add to the idea of a forceful parting (which should help with stuff directly targeting it instead of merely environmental effects), and Spellbreaking to expand the concept of easy passage to encompass also passing through spells and corruption untouched.

Well the Oni's plan works for me.

And here we go!

[X] Plan Metal and Secret Brotherhoods
Get most things squared away, for now, so we can research/make armour and such next turn. Might even find new things to research with the explore action. I wonder what a 1 or 100 would get us?

100 might be another Gromril seam. A 1 might be a Dragon or something equally dangerous. My guess anyway.
We sure we want both armors to be the same rune combo?
Well, don't forget they have the cloaks to go with them, when we end up finishing them. The cloaks are the individual parts, we might be able to personalise the armours if we chuck enough actions into it. But sometimes rune combinations just work with armour. They do what you want them to and you don't need to be fancy with it.

I am willing to take suggestions, but now that they have combos from their cloaks, they both need stuff that protects them from extremely lethal moves or magic. Particularly Gloin since he doesn't have a superweapon like Trollslayer, and armor runes are best at protecting the user, so they'll need to be some kind of protective rune set up.

[X] Plan Metal and Secret Brotherhoods.

I see no issues, and this stuff is Good Civ. Plus, More Yorri!
