At the same time, we've yet to run across anything that needed more killing than our regular, non-runic greatsword.

Our two urk warboss kills to our name are 'shot him from across the room' and 'stabbed him while he was chanting', both one shot kills.

When we were spotted during the assassination we tricked them into running face first into Burning Shadows. At no point during either of these encounters did we need some incalculably valuable sword to get shit done.

Frankly speaking most of that comes down to luck and any warboss that actually gets into melee is going to Krump us good as proper if we're not lucky it only takes a wizard to shut down our spells and we're in deep shit. Whilst against orks we have a nice bonus against their casters that's not the case with Skaven and I don't want to end up being in a scrum with Skaven warlord after a grey seerer blows through our illusion spells which absolutely could happen if we're scouting skaven holdings in the area.

Having a powerful weapon is a must, as we're not going to be able to have powerful armour.

[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.
[X] Karag Nar penthouse

[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

[X] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.

Yeah. Or simply that whether the Runes interfere with each other is how they define Master Runes, and the loss of knowledge and skill has led to lesser runes becoming Master, as they no longer know whatever tricks there are to make runes work together better.

Any way what it does mean is that Belegar may have some incredibly powerful runic weapons lying in wait to be found in the holds around here that could be essentially unowned as K8Ps treasuries date back over 3,000 years.

Also, we're gonna have to deal with Chaos at some point. And Khorne has some pretty solid anti-magic. For that matter, getting into a magic duel with a Tzeech guy isn't my idea of a good time either.

Yea I don't want to go any where near a chaos army with out a decent weapon. Their sorcerers can run around in chaos plate casting with absolutely no penalties despite being in strong armour and a bog standard great sword is crap. There's no good reason not to have a weapon that will allow us to mulch enemies as quickly as possible if no other reason than it means we need to cast less spells which is always a plus when dealing with a magic system that kills you when you throw snake eyes and every serious spell is a roll of the dice away from killing you.

True. The Citadel and Karag Ziflin? Yar? One of the ones across the valley had all the loot IIRC. So we might be in a pretty nice position for that.

So. Do elf mages use armor? Like stuff made from Ithilmir or whatever the fancy elf magic metal is? Because I kinda got a hankering to have our little grey mage go out and make great friends with the Elfs sometime after eight peaks is taken. Potentially eventually trying to get the elves and dwarfs to work together again. That sounds like a pretty significant long term goal, yeah? (also, a whole new source of awesome loots.)

Requisitioning one or two of the more suitable ones would probably be cheaper than a commission, and maybe leave enough for a dwarven grounding-rod equivalent instead of "Twenty five favour weapon please, Kragg!". As wonderful as that weapon might be, and the ability to maybe leave the flamberge on Abelhelm's tomb to really confuse Roswita as to why her father's sarcophagus is sprouting weaponry.

I suppose Dwarven craftsmanship is good enough to avoid the usual problem with gunblades, i. e. the near certainty that you'll dent the barrel and it'll blow up in your face.
Actually the small axe with a musket in it was specifically designed for ship boarding actions. The idea was you carried are a pile of pistols and you gunaxe was actually an axe with a surprise boom in the middle of melees. Nasty surprize but only really one shot per battle, but nothing like resolving a weapons clash be suddenly musket ball to the face!
Also if we want a sword just have Maximilian make one once his apprenticeship is complete as it'll be free, and not something a dwarf would grumble about making.
That could take half a decade or more easy... dwarves are like that if its not just a learning experience.
I love how subtle those items are, though. Most people won't even notice she wears a magical item at all. A sword (or axe) would attract much more attention.
You guys are thinking about this wrong, Wizard with a great sword and no other big weapons is already very strange and eye catching when she isn't stealthed. Its just odd.
Wrong! If we had had necromancy Abelhelm could still be alive right now!
Well, 'alive'
The stuff that can be learned in any useful time period is bind the soul to the body and tortured endlessly as power source. Really you'd be better off making an Ulgu spell that makes reality forget he was dead in the first place.
---

Actually, I think you guys should research an Ulgu spell to enchant the future great sword with. Its a variant of 'mind hole' that makes those killed with the great sword forgotten about for say 24 hours (as a base) by people not wielding the sword. That way you can kill your way (secretly) through a base and as you off them they get forgotten about one by one.

>_>...<_<...-_-

Yes... yes I did just suggest making an enchanted sword that works like a weak version of a Weeping Angel.

I want to invest in the EIC, before people point out about not wanting to enrich Stirland and how it's poison to do so I would point out that the EIC does not have to remain solely in Stirland. Well I would like to take over Stirland before expansion but it wouldn't be impossible to expand into other provinces and provide a stabilizing influence over trade by acting to stop price gouging in war well making a profit.

I want to see family and friends and we really need help with the eggs if we hatch them and then write the papers before they leave.

[X] This is Dame Weber's money. The funds will largely go towards investment in Stirland - possibly your fief, possibly the EIC, possibly investing elsewhere within the province.

With Thorgrim focused on avenging grudges over the rebuilding of the Karaz-Ankor getting the dwarves and elves to work together again is pretty much a fools errand even with the High King being focused on rebuilding the realm it would be nigh impossible. Whilst I'm not opposed to working with the Elves (I'd want Mathilde to have a fair chunk more of her Ulguu spells learnt or even mastered before then though) We have an awful lot to get done with the Dwarves and with our own research projects before i'd want to head out.

Not really. The thing to spend Elven favour on imo, would be lessons.

Pretty significant long term goal is understating it. It's a feud that's lasted longer than the existence of the nations of the Old World, and that most of the Empire probably has no idea of the causes. Neither side is actually particularly interested in reconciling either.

Nothing wrong with investing in the EIC but a thousand or so is already a big infusion of liquid capital for them. I doubt we can usefully spend more than a few hundred on the gong farmers and a couple of hundred on the fief.

I think something we'd want to learn from the elves is how they mitigate miscasts, whilst there's no room in the TT for such abilities they absolutely must have skills related to that in lore, there's no way you're living to the ripe old age of 500+ if every time you cast a battle magic spell and miscast you die given the likelyhood of it happening.

Yep. Or Diplomacy. They have the world's largest fleet IIRC, which means they've got to have some pretty good diplomats.

Good holy site, but a little cramped, a little lacking in exposure to Ulgu and...well really when you think of it like that its kind of like the old place in Wurtbad.
Why'd it lack in Ulgu? Ranald's spheres means Ulgu would naturally accumulate there.

He got called the Mad for trying to remake the Rune of Sorcery and then kersploding.
He got called the Mad for his obsession in trying to make the Nemesis Crown.

Are you sure? Because the Lexicanum says it was because he spent his time teaching humans stuff. " He was known as "The Mad" by his fellow Dwarfs because he chose to remain with the Human tribes in order to teach them crafts such as blacksmithing, rather than return to the mountain holds. "

Huh. So, apparently Lexicanum is confused. Because it gives two different reasons.

[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.

@BoneyM, couple of things we might get dwarf favour for. First, getting those extra reinforcements from the various places. Thousands of extra troops and dozens of artillery pieces if I remember right. Second was weakening Mork. We made that public in the war council and we later saw Mork bashing his own troops out of anger.

Can't really prove the latter, the former I think we already got credit for.
