is to start saving dwarven favor to build a tower in our fief in stirland, a 25 favor dwarf tower.
Sounds very eh to me tbh since the main point of the security of the tower here is that its sitting in a Dwarven Karak and can be built to high standards of secrecy. The fief is just not worth much of anything in terms of defensive value so why bother sticking something important there?

Its also in the actual Empire and we're working on things that are best left unscrutinized by Empire authorities.

As per Hero-level training and you will need to swear to live forever by the code of Gazul:

Always oppose all defilers of the dead, especially necromancers.
Never refuse to perform burial rites for any that perish.
Never enter or disturb a place of burial that has been blessed.

This is not a cross your fingers behind your back and you're all good oath, either. This is if you knowingly break it and they hear about it, suddenly the entire Skaven and greenskin races are bumped down a notch as you become public enemy kill-on-sight number 1 for literally every Dwarf.

Guys this actually sounds like a positive to me, the oath I mean. It is a rock solid reason to never perform necromancy even though we have the knwolege from the Liber Mortis. It locks out the temptation that so many are worried about

[X] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.

It is a good thing for that and it does fit with her hatred of necromancers so I wouldn't be against it. The education on souls would also be useful. I'm definitely not going to object but I need to think about if I want to spend time on it.

This is why I never read what isn't threadmarked. Everyone just can't get along and enjoy the nice quest without vote-shaming or throwing hissy-fits.

Well, that AND I know that if I start reading then I start throwing hissy-fits.

When someone decides to make a quest as good as this that updates as regular as this, the least you can do is keep it clean.

@BoneyM

If we did this, would we be able to get the name of their greatsword supplier? :V

I just don't like it thematically. It feels too close to being a holy knight of a different deity (because it kinda is) and we serve only the popcorn god.

Being kinda-sorta-if-you-squint cleric of more than one god feels wrong.

My biggest issue would be the, say Final Rights Over All The Friendly Dead thing, that sounds like a constant post battle action sink for us.

Edit: Also, like Kornet pointed out, we only follow one god, and thats Ranald.

Something to keep in mind is that with the Expedition over Esbern and Seija are no longer under Mathilde's command. Frankly if we want more journeymanlings to help with the reconquest the best bet is to go to the colleges, and work something out an agreement in the name of King Belgar that they can send whomever they want, but Mathilde will have control over where they're assigned once they reach there, which Belgar is basically guaranteed to agree to as it is in essence a continuation of how she did things in the Expedition with spectacular success.

Meanwhile the colleges are inclined to agree to it as it allows their journeymen/journeywoman the option to go a place filled with opportunities that while dangerous has little risk of being stabbed in the back due to dwarves being dwarves, and even humans who come longer after the Expedition will notice the Grey Magister tower. So it should be possible to arrange for a trickle of journeymanlings to come to K8P, and while it will take actions those that survive are likely to make Magister i.e it is basically using K8P to do networking. More importantly to build a precedent about the utility of including Empire magic users for their dispells in future reclamation of Holds from the dwarven pov Mathilde needs to continue the successes of her subordinates into the future for the reaminder of the reclamation of K8P, and that requires new blood as old dies, or goes to take their Magister trials.

Also if we want a sword just have Maximilian make one once his apprenticeship is complete as it'll be free, and not something a dwarf would grumble about making.

I agree that both the tower and the weapon are important, but should we not reserve some favours for training?
I'm pretty sure there's a set of people who want to spend favors on training and then another smaller set on Other like useful diplomacy. I'm one of them who wants to spend some on the Tower, a little less on the weapon, and then either save the rest or spread it around using for training and a fraction for diplomacy stuff.

Someone mentioned spending all our favor on personal bling changing the direction of the quest a little from the advisory role, and I kinda get that. I also get not wanting to die and ending the quest, and having a tactical nuke greatsword seems pretty cool life insurance policy. Someone also mentioned having an elite unit we can send to do the heroic death dealing stuff. Can we use our favors to get a dwarven household guard unit? I mean we are a noble, if our Man At Arms happen to be dwarven rangers... That's just cause we are cool cats. Also, lets name the runic greatsword Life Insurance Policy. xD

Fair point @BoneyM does Mathilde think this would upset Ranald and/or it would behoove her to spend too long speaking prayers for the dead post battle?

How many time our ass have been save because of the Seed and the Rune? A bit to many.
Much less than I expected when we got them. I think she mostly used the seed it to recover faster after a battle. The belt was used more often, of course, but even then I think she would have been alright without it most of the time. The spelleater rune saved her in that last battle, though.

I love how subtle those items are, though. Most people won't even notice she wears a magical item at all. A sword (or axe) would attract much more attention.
the Dragon Ogres feed on Azyr.
Probably more complicated than plain Azyr, but a great insight.
I wonder if it'd be worth it to create an enchanted MAP of Karag Nar and place it somewhere nice and visible. Shouldn't be too hard I think.
I'd vote for that as a project. Good way to help people and get them used to your magic. Also giving her new spell a place of prominence for however long the enchantment holds.
This was PROBABLY why Thorgrim took him to the records chamber for the talking. He knew from how Kragg's survival was handled that Belegar had WORDS, best handled in relative privacy, with longbeards with known discretion.
I actually found that Thorgrim was surprisingly diplomatic on the whole. He did a big faux pas when he called the kingdom a foothold, but aside from that it went really well.
Never enter or disturb a place of burial that has been blessed.
Only part I would not want. I don't want others to be able to hide in a burial mound. Would have never been able to recover those ledgers back then…

Could we spend favors to acquire something that would extend our natural life expectancy?

I think it would be nice if our Dwarven allies/friends didn't out live us. But I'm not familiar enough with Warhammer fantasy lore to know if this is a viable option. I realize that we could look for a solution with necromancy, but I'm not sure if we will ever have enough Dwarven favors for them to let us continue to hang around when they inevitably find out.

I know it's not a popular stance, but I personally think we shouldn't swear that oath, because with our very particular set of skills, interests and resources, we've got what might be the best chance of pulling off true nehekaran 'necromancy' since Nagash, and even if we can't currently think of a situation where it'd be vital, I don't like the idea of locking it off permanently.

Actually, we don't really need to ask anyone since there is very strong evidence that just using magic prolongs your life span if you don't kersplode from a miscast. Examples being Belthsar Gelt, Elspeth of the Amethyst Order and a few others like the Matriarch of the Jade Order.

Its basically a side effect of being a Wizard.

Necromancy is a terrible idea.

Oh but does this thread fly.

Regarding Runic Weapons:
My plan is to wait a year or so for Max to learn smithing. Have him reforge our flamberge into a one-hander. Then get our sword Runed. As to how much to spend on Runes? 10. Perhaps 15 depending on what else we spend in the mean time.

I have no interest in reading romance. Friendshipping is far more entertaining.

I just realized this was a thing that was said. Like, really? Dragons, Eagles, Skycutters, Daemons, Terradons, Ripperdactyls, Griffins, Wizards, Discs of Tzeentch, none of that counts?
Animals and warpbeasts. Kragg frowns in your direction.
Birdmen of Catrazza?
