I think we should straight up discuss that with her. We want to retain her services, can't really pay in grief seeds (beyond the standing offer of an unconditional clear seed), and while we can pay in cash, hacking powers are very conducive to aquiring arbitrary amounts of money.
No clear seed is unconditional: all are on the conditon of "help meguca, or at least send them my way." (or something among these lines)

Amusingly enough, having two bodies at once is NOT especially useful when compared to most other MG powers. But Noriko is skilled enough to make it into something pretty damn impressive in combat.

Kind of like how Archer has shitty stats but uses a pair of swords, an ingenious (but risky) sword style, and sheer skill to hold his own far above his weight class in melee.

And it's a shame we couldn't copy Misato's power, because she was basically Utsuho Reiuji (from Touhou).
Wait, what? Where are you getting this from? :O

Does Akemi actually need book recommendations, or could she just walk into a bookstore and grab a random book off the shelf and have it turn out good?

Shame that they nerfed him in Brawl.
Maybe a wordsmith would have phrased things in a way that would somehow sound less manipulative, but I'm no wordsmith. :p
You just have to say what they're doing first.

"Walpurgisnacht is coming, and you need to evacuate." -> "You need to evacuate because Walpurgisnacht is coming."

"We don't have time to hunt witches, could you find them for us?" -> "Could you just find witches for us to hunt?"

"If you find a witch, tell us where so we can hunt it." and "We don't really have a lot of time available to go looking for witches, so if you want something to do while seeing the sights of Mitakihara (before Walpurgis) you could do us a solid."

Wait, what? Where are you getting this from? :O
From Firn. I've been working on a series of omakes about the Shioga girls. Since it's basically irrelevant now, I don't see the harm in sharing some vague, general tidbits about misatos power, or that Noriko is skilled (she's still alive, after all).

Like how Kyouko makes up for having lost her clone power by being extremely skilled and creative with her weapon. Or how, conversely, Sabrina and Sayaka, being magic powerhouses with an overwhelming array of capabilities to master, are relatively lackluster with their pure weapon/melee skills.

Come to think of it, we could introduce them to Kyouko, and suggest she and Noriko spar, for fun if nothing else.

Huh. Kyouko took clones better then I expected, given her potential issues with them. I was worried that we hadn't warned Sayaka about that...

Well. Kyouko can certainly give Sayaka some advice on how to use clones as decoys and distractions in combat.
By the way, maybe this will be a good thing for Kyouko. She's got all this (now) useless knowledge about clone meguca combat, and passing it onto Sayaka might help justify her possessing that knowledge, in her mind, make it useful and worth having (again).

Wait, do these two [Noriko and Akemi] even have weapons, or do they have to rely on just punching things?

And totally have a
[x] Ask if Sayaka can copy their powers
somewhere

Random thought as I continue rewatching the series via let's watches- it's interesting that the end of this week is the approximate time of Sayaka's prophesied mysterious death here in PMAS, given that in canon she was listed as disappeared on the 12th, which may itself have coincided with her running off to go self-destruct at Familiars instead of her actual Witching or her Witch's subsequent death; there's enough time between the events that it's possible that our mysterious Sayaka-incident may well be planned to coincide exactly with one of those canon moments.

Feels like something that was probably mentioned in the past at some point, but it's interesting to note.

... we should proooobably keep an eye on all our people, Sayaka included, in the next few days, even more than normal, just to make sure we don't have any... incidents. At least, not sudden ones that we can't keep a lid on.

... we really do have rather a lot of metaphorical eggs in the air, don't we.

Have a vote idea for now:

[] Take a mental step back; you might not have phrased things the best way.
-[] Assure Akemi and Noriko they have no obligation to help. The situation meguca find themselves in is unfair, and we don't want to take advantadge of it.
-[] We can provide free Grief Cleansing, and more, while still having our own projects. If we could give every meguca the chance to go back to their normal lives, we'd be happy with that.
-[] What we're looking for are volunteers. People who simply want to help.
-[] That said, they have time to think it over, since there's no new refugees as of yet. You'd like to introduce them to your friends, either way.
-[] All that said:
--[] Offer a Clear Seed. Standard disclaimer.
--[] Tell them about Sayaka's power; ask if they would mind letting their powers be copied.

[] Yuma:
-[] Tell her she should join the tautology club.
-[] Explain: The tautology club is the tautology club.

[] Afterwards, make a Grief Enchantment Aid, to make Speckled Enchantments.
-[] Try making Speckled Enchantments of...:
--[] Sense enhancers (Grief, magic, physical).
--[] Lie detector.
--[] Toggleable privacy field.
--[] Pocket Brina.
--[] Magical energy shield.
--[] Ability enhancers (combat, multitasking).
--[] Grief cleansing.
-[] Test successful Speckled Enchantments for witchy feeling, duration, and effectiveness. Drop those with marginal value.

[Hmmm] Telepathy Sayaka, Madoka, Homura, Mami:
-[Hmmm] Ask how did craft and gardening club go.
-[Hmmm] Ask Sayaka to try sending a clone squad hunting tonight. Ask Homura to help her.
-[Hmmm] Ask Mami out for a hunt date. :V

Rather than making mincemeat of my brain thinking how to compress the first part into few words, have some highlighting of main points. :V

Also, I think it's high time we try decking ourselves in speckled enchantments. And mind, we might as well try everything we can think of. Many ideas we might try will likely fail, so just take the time to push the limits of our Grief assisted enchantments as far as we can, right now.

Luck powers?

.....lottery tiems?
Rather, Big Pants gambling - they call it investment. But this would get us noticed early. Too bad, really. OTOH, can she Enchant this yet? We need a few 'specials' for Witchfest. The crowd loves critical shots!
"If you find a witch, tell us where so we can hunt it." and "We don't really have a lot of time available to go looking for witches, so if you want something to do while seeing the sights of Mitakihara (before Walpurgis) you could do us a solid."

From Firn. I've been working on a series of omakes about the Shioga girls. Since it's basically irrelevant now,
Whoa! I'm pretty sure we all want to read this! Ante up?
I think I'd have preferred leading with the 'you have incoming roommates' and 'can you help us locate Witches' before mentioning Walpurgisnacht.
Fair enough. My instinct is that it won't be different from the way we said this info in text, however. One of these things far outweighs the other. In memories, this will always be 'the time we first learned about Walpurgisnacht.' Even if we curbstomp her, learning of it was a shock. Re-read the reaction?

I want them to understand they have people protecting them now. Society works by trust, not fear.

Showing them the DVD might prove our power a little, but I think they may not respond well to that approach. If they can grow, and become better women instead of better fighters, that's fine. Support is the magic of military power, anyway. We need many tiers of support and organization, and civilians do that. Madoka is relying on Homura. Homura is now turbocharged by us. Sabrina gets her reach from Mami, and all our friends will get more powerful as the level of supporters goes up. ("It's turtles all the way down.") All they need is a good bond with us, by knowing the truth. Making our civilians ignorant is a losing plan.
Thus if we avoid 'cornering' them, or abusing their reliance on us to take away their independence, telling them about actual risks isn't bad.
Sabrina is currently the best deal in the world for a generic Magical Girl. In current terms, not counting our revolutionary endgame, trading with us is smart. Our team is strong, and our costs for membership are very low. Further, the brand of crazy we broadcast isn't particularly harmful.* Anywhere they go, heck, anywhere I go IRL, there is community. It isn't free, because as a group we are doing things. But there IS freedom here, the key ingredient. As I take it, we are not putting out a "fixed cost" model, ours seems to be a "rational sliding scale" model. To compensate our risk for making it possible for them to live us, we want them to pay something. That something is "agreement." If they don't agree, we will still cleanse them. Megane Ono, for instance. But we will need to focus on other people instead. If they do agree, that agreement needs an expression, which is somewhat free choice. Assistance is typical? And we break entropy with perpetual hugs, if that wasn't enough. I'm getting too elemental here, so I think my position is stated.

Please allow me to Go Big, and Go Home.

Mami said something. And it made me think.
Sabrina is now remembering to Sabrina to find a pattern in our Sabrina memories. A cognitive leap has occurred?

Soul Gem, egg form

Soul Gem, ring form

Soul gem, jewel form

They swap from 3D use to 4D storage. Inside 'our barriers.'
4D space organized, or even opened and attached, by Incubators.
Probably folded inside the Soul Gem.
Unless every human has a pocket of 4D reality.

Girl's identity, history, name.
What happens to a girl when Grief takes her? And Why?

Soul Gem, egg form

Soul Gem, ring form

Soul gem, jewel form

They swap from 3D use to 4D storage. Inside 'our barriers.'
Probably folded inside the Soul Gem.

Girl's identity, history, name.
Witch name. Witch nature.

These are linked. They are not identical.

Magic is easiest to use when the egg form or the jewel form are in 3d space.
Harder to use, or less strong when the ring is outside.
Practically impossible to use in a normal human body.

When a girl falls, her egg-form Soul Gem is in the configuration of a Grief Seed.
The witch's most important part was always in the center of that.
The human body isn't used.
All existence is accomplished by using magic.
The ring-form is not seen anywhere.

Magical Girls have "instincts" or training information added to them. Quite a lot of them, actually.
Where do those reside?
Why are they not "memories" for the girl?
The abilities do exist as point-of-use instructions, but are not in mind before.

Where did the Witch core come from?
Evil from the girl in question? Evil from some other girl? Not objectified emotion at all, but an object itself?
A different entity entirely, natural or constructed?
An existence that operates the Magical generation of the girl's emotions for her?
An entity that takes on the role of the evil portions of the girl's soul for her?

The question I feel needs to be posed - is a Magical Girl a modified human?
A human made of other materials, and in a different hyper shape?
Or
Is a Magical Girl a human modified into a binary symbiont in higher dimensions?
A human shaped differently to share functions with something else?
A something else that learns and adapts to the system, becoming nearly identical to the human half?

The practical effect:
Does the girl's ring-form Soul Gem device continue to exist, lodged within a dimension accessible to the witch core?
Is the biographic memory and complementary soul parts not used by the witch still inside the ring-form Soul Gem?

Have fun with this in-thread. Any witty stuff you do in Discord can't reach here, and this is my serious de-witching hour.

"You're just as good-" Mami protests, and smiles at you. "-but I know you'll disagree."

You huff, and grin right back. "Besides." You spread your hands demonstratively, Grief fanning out with the motion into razor sharp blades.

"Make sure it's clean!" Mami says, laughing.

You fall into an easy rhythm with Mami - she does in fact let you take the grunt work, starting the ricecooker, chopping vegetables and meat. Mami sets the soup on the two inner stoveheads and gives you a smile, and you take over with Grief. And since you don't actually have to reach over to stir, Mami mans the stove with two pans. One with a lightly seasoned mackerel sizzling away and another to brown some chicken, and both smelling absolutely heavenly.
We need to formalise our possitions in the kitchen at some point; just working out which sort of chefs each of us are would peobably help her accept our help, and our insistance that she should be the one to do the actual...management work (?) of cooking.
"... really?" you say. Huh. Candy.
We should really look into some of the ways to make sweets; there are some really interesting ones that would probably be easy to make using the quasi-industral mechanisms we can make via Grief control.
"That smells amazing," Akemi says, sitting up and peering at the dishes as you set them up. This is going to be so much washing later.
...Why is this a problem again? Didn't we clean the rust off of a metal pole or something with Grief?
The Shiogama girls exchange a look before Noriko speaks. "T-then... I'm Watanabe Noriko," she says. "Um... my power is that I have a second body? It's very useful. Uh, well, I like Akemi, and I sculpt a bit, and, ah, I like video games. Calligraphy, too."
Should we get them some enchanted carving and art tools? It just seems like we could make some of those really easily.
Mm. A witch killed their friend. It looks like they're very much not ready to go back to that, as a result. We might want to apologize for that.
Maybe we should give them some BFGs to point at Witches if they want to take advantage of the chance.

Actually, would they be interested in using enchanted tools to aid in construction efforts? They seem like they might be; we should let them in on any self sufficiency plans we end up with.

On a semi-related note; i've noticed some self deploying homes, which basically fold out like those beds that fold into the walls but it'the rooms that fold out of the walls instead, and i think that we might be able to make some of those that can fit into a MGs storage space; does anyone think that getting those to people could be useful?

Defiitely apologize for bringing up witches. It's just that their powers are great for scouting (two places at once, looking at the right places). With their luck they might even find Riona Mag Aoidh, Kuroki Matsuko, and potential hostile invaders for us without starting a conflict.

I just realized something.

"Well... we don't really know each other, right?" you say, smiling gently. "So, um... I'm Sabrina, as you know. Vee Sabrina, on paper, but the surname is a bit of a weird thing. My powers are Grief control, and I enjoy spending time with Mami and my other friends, and helping people."
We're being dishonest.

We omitted one of the most important parts.

We like hugs! We didn't tell them we like hugs. :V

[X] Take a mental step back. Offer tea?
-[X] You might've put undue pressure on Akemi and Noriko. You don't want to take advantadge of an unfair situation.

--[X] ...Can Akemi enchant real luck charms?
[X] Call Nagisa. Check how she's doing, and try to set up another visit.
[X] Practice with enchanted grief. Test to see if grief can create certain effects, for possible reproduction as enchantments:
-[X] Soul Gem connection range booster.
    -[X] Mind/Soul protection.
    -[X] Reflex/Thought speed booster.
-[X] "Inertial dampener" - counteract negative effects of extreme acceleration.

    [x] The one with Nagisa
[X] Sabrina now Realizes Noriko and Akemi want to be protected, rather than fight.
-[X] Fictional Magical Girl stuff is helpful too, love our neighbors when possible, follow the golden rule, etc. Is this their choice?
-[X] They have no obligation to help. You're looking for volunteers. Ask them to think it over.
-[X] Tell us if they don't want to scan for witches, but still call us if that happens. We will take care of it.
--[X] Explain and ask if they'd mind Sayaka copying their powers.
[X] Teach them the Clear Seed rules, even if we don't hand it over yet. Better safe than sorry. Demo the Clear seed.
[X] Show them a map of the city. Narrate as we do. Mention the possibility of double dating touring with them a bit.
[X] Actual recreation. Play or watch something with them. Reduce stress.
[X] Find out if they still have family in Shiogama, or not. Do it with the care and certainty of experience from all of our friends who no longer have families. What can we do to help them handle that, if anyone is out there? Do they have close mundane friends?
[X] We want them to spend time each day meeting the rest of our friends. Include O&K.
[X] Get thinking Akemi and Noriko! We can't let them stew and be alone, Magical Girls are pro-active!
-[X] We want them to find things that express their selves, and then do those things. Mami will want to hear all about it over tea in a couple of days.
[X] Suggest one (1) happiness meditation-like activity they could learn. Possibly:
-[X] Suggest they keep a diary. Secret diary?... Demo the teacup trick! They need to study this anyway.
-[X] Show them basic enchantment - With the twist that the starting point we teach is happy emotion infused magic.
--[X]To complete a session, they need to begin with five minutes reviewing any positive events of the day to have those ready for the mental concentration of enchantment.
[X] Call Nagisa. Check how she's doing, and try to set up a visit, including Yuma.
[X] Check in with Yuki. Mention IRC?

Defense: Add a permanent enchanted soul gem casing?

The chat with Yuma was probably half an hour ago - I doubt she still remembers the "Big sis is big sis" context, so the joke would be lost on her.

Defense: Add a permanent enchanted soul gem casing?
The other way to look at this would be "enchant to produce a decoy soul gem, not actually connected to Sabrina in any functional sense, but externally convincing any observer that it is an active soul gem." This should provide a safety margin during ambush. Serious threats will always be somewhat unknown. Further, it is passive and need never leave the control radius.

Considering all most meguca we know are children or teenagers then I'm thinking this at the default

[ ] Yuma:
-[ ] Tell her she should join the tautology club.
-[ ] Explain: The tautology club is the tautology club.
Calling her again just for that feels a bit weird. Maybe if we call Yuma to talk about anything (I don't think we know Yuma much more than "Kyouko's charge") and in the middle of it we can joke.

That reminds me, when was the last time we talked to Nagisa?

Defense: Add a permanent enchanted soul gem casing?
Homura may be in the way of making one with her enchatments. About Sabrina, I may be hard because I don't think it's a good idea making the protections using grief (fEeLiNg WiTcHy) so that leaves normal (pure magic) enchantments only.

Now that I remember, there's a few people we might want to check on.

I think we called Hijiri this morning, I'm not sure what are our plans with her. Call her one more time today, wait until tomorrow morning...?

Related, check on the Pleiades?

Also, just remembered and checked, last time we asked, Masami and Hiroko found no traces of Kuroki. We did leave a note in there for Kuroki, but they didn't mention it. Is it possible Kuroki is alive and found the note? (Or the note was blown away by wind or they just didn't mention it or Firn forgot :V )

So if Shiogama does decide they want to help with the refugees, do we want to give them the IRCs or do we really only want them talking to people after they show up?
