Still think dropping the bomb on Sayaka is a mistake. Hoping she'll act based on her characterization in a (mobile game is it?) is... well that's a serious gamble at best.

It's from a comic associated with that game, not the game itself. It is in fact a doujin, if a fairly silly one.

Also, standing theory: the 4-space we're looking at is probably meguca-specific. But it might not be, and even if it is, what happens if we push a ribbon into there?

A doujin. Wait seriously? They're basing Sayaka's reaction on a doujin?

They're basing Sayaka's reaction on a (silly) third party comic attached to a third party game?

Please tell me there's something I'm missing here. Because otherwise...

Kai, I'm pretty sure an invisible ribbon is a ribbon that's bent through 4 space. Unless you're saying something I'm not getting, Mami already does this.

Manga*

It's official. Sort-of.

*Blinks*

Source? Wat? I am not aware of Mami using invisible ribbons. Wouldn't she have used that on Homura in Rebellion? Or am I a moron?

Well they are alien hyper-tech. Anyway, I don't think that works because rotation in 4d only lets you keep a plane constant, not a volume, in much the same way that 3d rotation has a constant axis and 2d rotation a constant point. Any rotation out of our normal 3d slice can only keep is in line with a planar cross-section of our soul gem.

Also, we say the transformed version, not the ring form.
But he only thing the rotation would need to keep constant is the line connecting the chibi and the Soul Gem.... Oh, right, that would make it appear 2D from the chibi's perspective. Hm. That may or may not be a problem, depending on how Firn's magically intuintive 4D space works.

Either way, another potentially fun and confusing exercise would be to try to position our body in an equivalent of a non-planar quadrilateral (so that no 3D slice contains our entire body).

She did. That's why Homu doesn't see them until Mami confronts her.

She's also used them in PMAS to allow Oriko to keep track of Anri while she was at her place.

*shrug*

I'm just playing politics to insert Mumi into the vote. I'm more than content to let other people handle the other stuff here.

We can fold this in with "warn and visit O&K". I think that I'd prefer assigning these to people that need a pick-me-up. Koko, Niko, Rin, etc.
Well, we'll probably talk with Niko, so someone else...

Maybe we should actually make it random. Make a list not including the people we'll be talking with shortly nor the people we can't find something nice to say to, and roll for it?

The plotting and characterization was approved (and in part done) by InuCurry, Sayaka's approach to the matter features in the game itself and in its supplementary materials (both serious tones and comical).

Moreover, it's highly consistent with Sayaka's behaviour throughout vanilla PMMM and Rebellion, playing on her character archetypes and her expressed sympathy towards witches - something that has already come up in the past in PMAS, I should note.

Moreover, Sayaka in PMAS has never hunted a witch without that witch being cleansed into a Clear Seed, and just as Kirika's powerset hinted that Oriko doesn't need her magic, I think Sayaka's power to create artificial soul gems is a strong hint towards involving her in the dewitching process in PMAS. It's highly congruent with her wish to be useful, to boot.

Personal thoughts: 4-space is probably a manifestation of the soul gem in a similar way to how a barrier is part of a witch. Especially as it shows our transformed gem, even when everything is in another form. My current question is whether the fact that it appears to be localized to just us is the way things are for everyone, or if other girls have that inner world connected to each other by karmic ties.

After all, part of our thing is that we have no connection the the world which is backed up by both Kyuubey and Sayaka's 404 error when trying to copy our power.
(Incidentally, the latter note currently has me curious as to whether Sayaka could copy our power if Mami used her ribbons to connect us.)

Making an alteration to "4d armor" because we have no reason at the moment to believe that anything exists in 4-space other than us and our gem. Quite the opposite. It would be a better use of our effort (and, more relevantly, wordcount) to sense what's going on in there rather than assuming there's a threat that can strike us from that direction despite having no knowledge of what it is.

EDIT: structural edit.
EDIT2: additional science line

First, if we're gonna do the Good Morning Asunaro And Mitakihara, we do need to talk with Kazumi first, so the talk about Hijiri would go before then, I feel.

I think the point is to do it together.

Second,
[X] Good Mourning Mitakihara!

Two points there, one I'm okay with moving that part of the talk there, but even if so the block should probably be split for clarity. The vote specifically warns us against going too early.
Two: Kazumi and Niko are both delinquents, so there's not a bad chance they'll want to sleep in. I'd rather accidentally wake just Kazumi too early to ask her than all of Asunaro.

I have edited that vote post. With all of that in mind.

As another point, Radio Mourning Mitakihara (especially special guest Asunaro edition) is kinda a public venue. If we have something else we want to say, we should.

(and clearly, the true answer is to leave the RNGsus in the vote itself.)

And yes, I feel I need to fit the grief-controller = mourning person joke in there somehow.

I'd argue about order but I've got nothing but nitpicks that might not work anyway.

What should we say to Yuma?

Probably something along the lines that she's a good girl? Feeilng she's a bad girl/daughter is somewhere along the lines of her main problems.

.... Uhh. For the medium, the graphics of Magireco are consistently very nice.
Since it's been coming up in the thread often, and with your endorsement that it actually has great graphics, I decided to download and play the game.

first searching in google play for the name in Japanese found a quiz game. I could tell it wasn't the correct game, but I downloaded it anyways, and failed the quiz.

Searching for a link online to take me to the playstore worked, but not only is the game region locked -- it is incompatable with my phone.

So I dragged out my old laptop that I first tested android on before commiting to a smartphone, to find that -- it's incompatable with my laptop too.

So if anyone here wants to play that game, you might need to change phones even when it gets an english release.

If Mami's soul gem was armored in the ana and kata directions, it would actually have some thickness in those directions, so it is more likely that each girl has a unique axis, or personal pocket dimension, or even a protobarrier that folds everything up into their soul gem.

However another detail about a 'fourth dimnsion' is that the three dimensions we are familiar with should still exist as a 'three slice' in the 'hypervolume', so you should still be able to detect anything that exists in the 'three slice', as long as you have a means of detection that doesn't rely on mechanics confined to three dimensions.

So if Sabrina can't detect Mami's soul gem from the 'fourth dimension', she must be 'hyperdepth perception' impaired.

That might be part of it, but he also seemingly isn't able to read Madoka's mind when she's just a potential, otherwise he wouldn't have been completely blindsided by her wish.

It's not just that people forget, however. The deleted memories get replaced with new, fabricated information.
In normal cases, that might apply. But Madoka's wish at the end of the series is quite specifically going to fuck over the Incubators' entire operation and Kyubey is explicitly surprised by it.

Kyuubey does limit itself. It "doesn't understand" humans and emotions. Not to say that it can't generate the correct answer in a strategic sense, given suitable input. Thus, Madoka could surprise it with a wish both because it doesn't want to disturb the 'internal wish state' and because she is thinking in an emotional manner.

Conservation of effort might be in play, if Kyuubey is burning magic to make mind reading happen. Magic energy is the product, so it would invest that with utmost restraint.

I guess the minimum required mental ability Kyuubey possesses is a surface mind reading, where the foremost intent and recent memory is on display. In a non-contact setup, Kyuubey seemingly can't interrogate or download everything. Further, it has no displayed interest in editing for mind control. OTOH, his memwipe is likely both read AND write, at least for unprotected mortals. The consequences of getting a dirty memwipe without a supervising intelligence would accumulate around Sabrina's antics otherwise. Some citizens would have been serviced multiple times, just by chance. Kyuubey is superbly effective, as this isn't observed.

So Sabrina needs ""glasses"" to see further in the fourth dimension?

Did she find these in a cardboard box behind some random building? Thanks! John Carpenter FTW.

Honestly, I kinda wanted Firn to roll. See Sabrina make a decision we had no idea what the result of would be until it happened.

And you might as well say what you have to say.
If Mami's soul gem was armored in the ana and kata directions, it would actually have some thickness in those directions, so it is more likely that each girl has a unique axis, or personal pocket dimension, or even a protobarrier that folds everything up into their soul gem.

I disagree with the conclusion here.

You're assuming that the fourth dimension is a property of the physical universe, rather than a property of magic and/or soul gems. Given everything we've seen so far, I do not believe this is a safe assumption.

Beyond that, I'm not sure how we were looking around but it's not unreasonable to assume that we were rotating ourselves around the ana-kata axis.

I'm running of intuition here rather than actual knowledge of mathematics but even if our sense of sight was limited to a three dimensional slice, we should have been able to use that to see Mami's gem by rotating. If Mami's gem was present then, even if it was armored, it should have been illuminated by the glow of our own.

It's not unreasonable to conclude it's a general effect, given that ourselves, Mami, and Megane Ono all seem to have access to it. (Ono by implication: She stuffs a grief seed behind her back to store it and it disappears without the aid of a pocket and it also may be how she applied makeup. Likewise the fact that items in our seem to go there when we transform.)

Given that of those three, Ono had no visible way to keep things with her, it may be worth testing whether space there exists relative to our gem. In addition this would also imply a bit about whether the fourth dimension is a product of the soul, or a fundamental property of the universe.

So here's the test:

- [] Stuff something mundane into 4-space. See if it remains stationary relative to our gem or if it has some natural motion.
