That would definitely involve skywalkers, or at least a massive weapon capable of destroying cities.
I meant, can we point out that the whole KILL ALL MIST NINJA narrative is bullshit?
[X] No ARMAGEDDON INITIATIVE

We could, yes; the client believing us...not so much. We're still Genin, low on the political totem pole. Jiraiya's certainly not going to tell us his plans for Mist, especially if he plans on nuking them. You know, since we used to live there and all.I meant, can we point out that the whole KILL ALL MIST NINJA narrative is bullshit?
[X] No ARMAGEDDON INITIATIVE
"So you're saying you chose to join Mist's worst enemy entirely on your own initiative? Instead of, say, offering this mysterious bargaining chip to Mist in exchange for amnesty? Or at least choosing a village that wasn't out to kill everyone you knew back home?"

Ideally they'd assume the bargaining chip was some sort of blackmail. Which would have to be really good blackmail since it managed to convince the mother fucking Hokage to adopt us into his new clan. Probably something that would get him killed outright if it ever got out.Hm. What is the proctor likely to infer about the nature of the bargaining chip?
Some potential types of bargaining chip: artifact, technique, favor, valuable goods, jutsu knowledge, historical knowledge, location-of-importance knowledge.
Granny Karina raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know ninja were allowed to abandon suicide missions. Isn't the point of a suicide mission that letting a few ninja die in one place will save lots more ninja somewhere else? That's how they did it when I was a little girl."
Ouch. This woman was good.
"He said it wasn't a proper suicide mission," Noburi came to the rescue. "That they'd just picked the ninja they most wanted rid of and decided to throw them in the vague direction of the enemy to cut down numbers before the real attack. If that was true, it wouldn't be a strategic sacrifice—it would be like having us executed even though we didn't do anything wrong. And since a lot of us weren't much liked by the authorities, or by our clans, it sounded way too plausible."
"Hmm," Granny Karina said. "And this jōnin thought he could found his own village with just a handful of particularly unvalued genin and chūnin?"
"There were two other jōnin as well," Noburi said. "Strong ones."
"Aren't jōnin those big super-ninja who can break whole armies with their bare hands and blow up mountains with their mind?" Granny Karina asked. "They sound really valuable. And you say you thought Mist had sent three on a suicide mission?"
I would imagine that we would have 'scared' the client quite a lot, resulting in docked points for being terrifying fucks."Imagine that you are a fresh young genin, oh so recently graduated from academy, setting out on your first real mission, a mission where you will be acting in support of chuunin who are themselves there to support the jonin. Now imagine that suddenly that mission implodes, and the chuunin and jonin are slaughtering each other in an orgy of blood and death the likes of which you have never even conceived. Are you going to be thinking clearly when the lead surviving jonin tell you it was because they objected to being sent to an ignoble death, to being cleaned out like weeds?
Maybe if we had had a quite moment to think about things, we might have figured it out. But we didn't get a moment, we were running. And then we were being hunted by Leaf nin. And then we were fighting through a goddamn swamp that eats fucking chuunin. We didn't get a proper chance to think about things until we had abandoned the swamp, and by that time, we'd already internalized the story we'd been told as truth."

Which does not explain why The Godaime Hokage, Goketsu Jiraiya, adopted us into his clan and put us under his personal protection. To be honest, the simplest answer is bloodline theft; it's the one thing that Leaf would inheritly consider much more valuable than Mist, and it makes sense for "missing-nin given a single advantage looking for anybody to take them in".
It also gels with her immediate jabs at us for "selling out"; under this interpretation, we defected with our bloodlines as a bargaining chip.

Not familiar with /ff. Since this event is supposed to simulate an escort mission, it stands to reason "early mission completion" should be a thing represented.Wait a minute.
The proctor never said anything about us being allowed to step down. All they said was "You'd be confined to the barracks until the event was over. Can't have you going around assassinating my fellow traders, now can we?"
What if, should we /ff at this point, we'd just be considered DQ'd and lose everything?
