Reforge the Empire.
And then the old timers can tag team these whelps.
And since we are offering sanctuary to the oppressed thinkers in old world, new world's development is that much slowed. Not!USA got crippled before birth didn't it? Halping!
--- @OliWhail My condolences to the boat people.
According to AN, if we do really well in the lowlands we have a secure route all the way to the monsoon sea theatre. Which also allows us to fuck over Vortuga trade.
Additionally, we will use a variety of means and not necessarily go Death or Glory on the HK.
The MH are apparently disliked by the lowlanders, so being in bed with them first might be a strategically bad move.
The Khem also seem to have designs of the HK. So they may take a swing at them as well if we go for the lowlands. Not ideal, but apparently we regard each other as civilized people that might go to war over trade, but won't attack innocent third parties over it like the Vortuga.
So in essence, if things go well the HK gets carved up and we sail all the way down into the Monsoon Sea. And take the vast agricultural bounty in between to make mad bank.

Not!USA drew mostly from the Protestants who were cracking down at first tho. And considering what the religious wars of europe tended to be like, I doubt Not!USA is going to be short on willin immigrants even if we take in as many immigrants as we can.

Yeah, but we would also take a lot of the ones that want an easier life in one of the nicest places on the planet where they can argue with the best and brightest rather than bumfuck nowhere, new world.

Yeah okay. The logistically easiest campaign against a bunch of people in love with fortifications, that predates nationstates is totally going to wage epic guerrilla war against the people with a ton of cannon to tear down their walls.
Do you even put any more thought into these comments than looking up relevant buzzwords? Vietnam? Afghanistan?
We're fighting them on fertile flood plains for the most part, with them having a fortified mountainous region in the south of it. We have the river to feed us supplies, and are going into territory where outside the Highlanders directly (and even then not the poor bloody infantry), none of them have any major ideological conflict with us to justify going full guerilla.
Either contextualize your responses or admit personal bias. None of this 'guerilla warfare is a monstrous defense on nearby flood plains where the locals have more in common with us than our enemy because Afghannam!'
Sorry, but you are awre that the Highland Kingdom is called this because it is not found on plains?
Or that we were never able to push it out of mounbtain passes it is set in?
And they have gunpowder as well.
Comparing the situation to Afghanistan is actually quite accurate.

Well, keep in mind that there were places in europe that religious dissidents would flee to. The Pilgrims, for example, originally fled from Britain to the continent, then found that their kids were becoming too 'Dutch' for their tastes, so they decided to go to the colonies.
It's not always the draw of religious safety that brought people to America, but also the fact that you could start your own community with your own rules, rather than having to fit inside someone else's society and culture, and then have to watch your kids take on that cultures traits.
It might slow the growth of the colonies, but honestly not by much. Land, opportunity and several other factors were honestly more important to colonial america's growth.

Nah, we apparently super fertilized their lands over the several thousand years that we had been using black soil near our rivers. They might have had a slight dip in production, but it was far from catastrophic.
The Amber Road ymaryn became the Gylruv. The Kielmyr are probably indigienous Scandinavians or Uralics who managed to replicate and then improve on the iron tools and weapons they bought from the Amber Road.
