"I might be able to get Dwarven ones, but I'd be on the hook for them - that's an uncomfortable position when I'd usually be a continent away from the factory.
What's this about? Isn't it just an expenditure of DF, something that at least some voters are very much okay with?
this is where the Pit of Shades opens into
Is it possible to learn to cast Pit of Shades without having any clue where it leads to?
Did Mathilde meet any Halfling Grey apprentices or wizards at all?
I have to wonder if that's the reason that by the time the RPG is set in the Golds developed a mental health spell, as their best and brightest kept breaking their minds.
Huh? Which one is that?
It might be. In the current time period, anyone that wants to learn Tale of Metal or Breach the Unknown has to spend six months assisting at the Frederheim sanatorium so they take the warnings about them seriously.
What made you initially decide that the spell in question is an as of yet not invented one? Also, are there any canon Ulgu spells that you declared to be future inventions?
'Favouritism' isn't really the right word for it. Some people get jewellery for their sweethearts, maybe Mathilde is more the sort to get towers.
Is it possible to build a tower not atop Karag Nar? It feels weird to build her a lab that can only be accessed through our appartment. Like trying to get her to hang out since "she can just work a bit while being here with us".

Let's all get our throats cut boys! Wait, wrong battlecry, let me check my notes...

Pretty sure this is more of a consequence of ownership rights than anything else. Mathilde has the right to build what she wants on the peak of Karag Nar, elsewhere? Not so much. Granted we probably could, but it would require negotiating for that with Belegar and would most likely take the form of a 99 year lease, like Gretel's tower.

Wasn't there some talk of equiping all the attending Journeymen with the Dwarven equivalent of Grounding Rods? @BoneyM If we want to do that should we be doing it now? Also, any chance Belegar would be paying (part of) the cost? If not, are we just supposed to guess how many we might need and pay for them this vote?

I believe we're only allowed build on Karag Nar at all because the Dwarves don't consider it to be a particularly pretty mountain. Building towers on any of the other mountains would ruin their aesthetics.

Is there a reason the Greenhouse Tower needs to be on a mountain at all as opposed to, say, right next to Panoramia's cottage? I mean I remember building a tower with/for her being an option we had during the romance votes.

Any chance to work toward an Autark Post-scarcity Luxury Fantasy Dwarf Karak I will support. :V

Green houses are a more efficient method of food production per unit of space and magical energy! Wizards can generate fertilizers without chemical run off! Wisdom Asps are a renewable magical energy supply! Dwarf Runes turn magical energy into motive force! Dwarf Karaks are just fantasy mountain arcologies!
Vote Greenhouse, Vote for the Shining Future!

Dunno, I think Mathilde's tower could use a year round food supply, panoramia could maybe make that happen. Also, more reasons for her to visit Mathilde.

I'd like to finish the basic investigation options for it first - use in enchantment, exposure to divine magic, exposure to a power stone, being subjected to power stone creation methods, and weaponization.
It is my opinion that this is a case where 'Perfect is the enemy of Good.'

There will always be something else to delay the publishing, a new use we want to investigate, something or other like that. We can always write a follow-up paper later on for the more esoteric uses. What we have now is a sufficiently impressive paper, and we no longer need it as our capstone to get us the Lord Magister title.

Panoramia remarking on our dragonbone staff, dragonscale pauldrons, and "dragonscale" flask makes my mind think of a hypothetical scenario where we dated Cython instead and it decided to "compete" by, say, showing up to a date wearing a necklace of human skulls (which I presume it could acquire somewhere without actually murdering anyone), or be seen reading a book bound in fake but realistic-looking "human skin". I wonder if it finds our attire to be a bit messed up like that.

Why? Human skulls are horribly fragile, and human leather is hard to come by with any quality.

...nope, still sounds morbid even when you use practicality to justify it.

[X] [TOWER] Far Sight

Greenhouse is on a runaway victory march, but I just don't think it fits currently. Not with us not even living there this turn. And not with a bit more in the form of discussion of its use beyond as a gift to Panoramia.

I'll be game after the expedition though.

Library vote is consensus based anyway, we're too poor for College stuff, I can't currently think of something for the Other category, and I'm still waiting for BoneyM's answer on bulk buying Dwarven Grounding Rods.

[X] [PURCHASE] A pair of dwarven goggles, for eye protection when we use the Dragon Flask.

I'm not sure on anything else, but these are my current preferences.

When implimenting Guild Secrets to our benefit, it is generally within contract that we keep Guild Secrets secret.

Mathilde has expressed that while she could get the Dawi to help us out and use their secrets, being a significant distance away means that we are less able to personally gurantee that no one steals their secrets.

You consider several answers. "Kelham," you say eventually.

"Ah," she says, looking at you with an undecipherable expression. "I thought I heard a trace of it in your accent."

"I left when I was ten," you continue, "and have not practiced their traditions in twenty-five years."

After a long moment, she nods. "Carrots and weeds grow in the same soil, and Panoramia and Titus both have nothing but good to say of you. I apologize for bringing it up." You think of the many figures hanging from trees and being beaten with sticks in your earliest memories that you're only mostly sure were straw-stuffed effigies, and nod in acceptance. "So! That Panoramia, hm? Quite a girl."

So if I understood this conversation correctly, the undertone was something like:

Hluodwica: So I notice you haven't been around to see us halflings much, and I can hear an accent in your voice suggesting that you come from a place that engages in ritual lynching of halflings. Care to comment?

Mathilde: I left that place behind a long time ago.

Hluodwica: Okay, cool, if you say so we can let it rest there.

Hang in there, Kasmir.

We're about to do what your priest friends couldn't.
What I got from this is that we can turn Ulgu itself into a sword and cut a way back into the Dwarven Afterlife to build a new gate for Gazul.
Only limit on how far it can scale is the amount of Ulgu you have to create and maintain it, so you could do it, I'm just struggling to see a why apart from selling Bloodweiser and Big Moot Sandwiches.
It'd be useful for large-scale transmission of information. Also just for making giant magical glowing signs that read MARIENBURG SUCKS that are so large you have to travel a dozen leagues to no longer be able to see them.

I'm personally glad that Panoramia is staying at home here in the Karaks, she's... more needed here in case of an emergency, and not too useful up in the wastes.
That, and i dont think we can forgive ours self if she got hurt. That being said, her knowledge of herbs and poisons will be sorely missed.

Panoramia is a great match for our shadow and stealth, and if she came she can contribute greatly on the expedition.

Make sure to stock up on poison and medicines then.
And a lot of dried fruits.
