@BoneyM, in thinking of Enchant Item'd item ideas, I realised a potential problem: clutter. You may not want to deal with a plethora of little things like an enhanced version of Grimm Burloksson's telescopic sight. Are you ok with whatever or do you want us to be sparing with these purchases?

I don't think there's a lot of scenarios where it would come in handy with the restrictions I've placed. It doesn't just need to technically qualify, it needs to be an item as central to the process as a sword is to swordfighting, and anything like that that Mathilde uses often will generally end up with Runes or a superior enchantment on it. But yes, in general I'm not keen on Mathilde having a hundred and one specific Enchanted items that will come in handy about once in a lifetime to keep an eye on.

Two of the seats are empty with "to the greatest-best" inscribed on them. The infighting on who gets what extra seat keeps the council deadlocked, keeping the tie-breaking Staadtholder the Horned Rat relevant.
... that sounds even more efficient and effective than the actual Council of Thirteen. For the Horned Rat, anyway. For everyone else it gets even less actual shit done.

Mmm, fearmongering lies win the vote once again...

I wonder, would it help reassure people swayed by those actions, if every time they did it I posted evidence of all the previous times they had done it, and showed the vast gulf of difference between their statements and what actually happened?

Aside from being far too provocative a statement, I have to ask, which fearmongering lies are we talking about? Because I recall a lot more comments about the disastrous consequences of the winning vote than the losing vote. Not that they were necessarily wrong in stating the possibilities, but still. Trying to call one side or the other out for such behavior when both we're doing it is unfair.

Runic firearms at Zhufbar:
Not much [selection] beyond reliability, accuracy, damage, flaming bullets. Five/ten/fifteen favours to put it on the bench and have someone that's the closest thing Runesmiths have to 'radical' take their best swing at it, and it won't be as dramatic as the equivalent amount of favours in a more traditional weapon.
@BoneyM I believe this should be in the Dwarf Rep spoiler instead of the College Rep spoiler.

I think I remember making the suggestion a couple hundred pages back (practically yesterday), but have you considered just making some sort of mechanically explicit 'Bag Of One Hundred and One Enchanted Items' to solve the conundrum? I don't mean in a '+5 to literally everything' sense, and I don't really know what would look attractive to the thread mechanically, but it seems like it would let us get to experience the specific fantasy of putting in the time and money to be prepared for something while also not cluttering up the item page any more.
+5 chair of being comfier while sitting on it so you can concentrate on writing papers better
This would be a -5, because we'd be too busy enjoying the chair. :V

Do me a favor and reread the thread policy.

Magic items are way too individually big a deal in Warhammer for such a bag to be a thing.

A question came to me as I slept.

@BoneyM

Has a dwarf ever pursued a grudge into the chaos wastes, and then come back south after succeeding to find themselves back in the past? If so, how does the inheritence work if their younger self is still around?

It wouldn't really add anything to the quest except a flat numerical bonus to either everything, or to most things and I have people asking why it doesn't apply to what's left over. Mathilde's Library is not dissimilar to this but it adds a fair bit to the story since it allows Mathilde to have done her homework and cite esoteric Warhammer lore in all sorts of situations.

Don't do this.

The things I am eager to write in response to this...

Ah, but that would be most impolite.

I will compromise with:

The word I would start with, begins with the letter "H", ends with "e" and has 9 letters in total.

Or this. Putting it behind a riddle doesn't change what you're doing.

Has a dwarf ever pursued a grudge into the chaos wastes, and then come back south after succeeding to find themselves back in the past? If so, how does the inheritence work if their younger self is still around?

As a general rule, if you go so far north that time breaks, you're not making it back home.

What kind of question is this even? Also should this not be in Warhmmaer Fantasy main thread? Because this sounds like off topic.

We can casually make or purchase the things. Codifying our propensity to make little stuff like our door keys into a big bag of stuff would be overpowered for somebody following the tone of the RPG, but to us it'd be an almost purely narrative advantage because we can already do all that.

H... eeeeeeee?

Arguably it was the right call at the time, as Magnus was picking up the pieces of the Great War Against Chaos and the Time of the Three Emperors, and Marienburg taking care of itself instead of being in a state of surly rebellion against a newly-appointed Baron was a big help. It was under the reign of the Unfahigers that they took it further and gathered enough power to make a bid for independence.

My understanding was that Marienburg was not the problem and more that the most prominent claimants came from other noble families/elector counts, none who would have tolerated one of their rivals get the position without very likely restarting the civil war.

Please don't. Thats a fast track from bad debating to bad AND personal arguments.

Sides it wasn't even fear this time. People really wanted to kick Marienburg's teeth in for even trying this.

Found a couple interesting tidbits. Old World Armoury, page 21
The most interesting thing here is the 100 apprentices thing. Like wow that's a lot. The mention of "black gromril" is noteworthy but inexplicable. Page 42 just gives information on gromril, not this black gromril stuff. I'm going to ignore it.

But this following dude is more interesting.
The dude knows how to work ithilmar into chainmail. Doesn't have the material, unfortunately, but still.

Just to get ahead of things: I will say that I am very much against spending AP on a "The Barak Varr navy steams for Marienburg, you are invited along." action. We have too much stuff to do.
However I would very much be in favour of spending a social action on watching the fleet head out and or arrive. I would like to see BoneyM wax lyrical on Mathilde getting to see a Dreadnought.

For reference, a sword has an encumbrance of 45. We could use this to make a bag of copper coins look like a bag of gold coins and in so doing scam someone big time.

I have to disagree strongly with @Angelform , the crisis in Marienburg is enormously important and we can significantly help both with personal skills and also by acting as a go between the Empire and the Dwarves.
