Ok, so can anyone think of any negatives for scavenge the gauntlet? because all the other options have at least one downside and I cannot think of any for it and it is setting off my latent paranoia.
The downside is that it doesn't really accomplish much beyond getting the We fed. Setting them on the mountains, for instance, has the added bonus of added surveillance on those mountains.

It's more defenders on that particular approach. Admittedly not something that is the most crucial, but it's hard to have too many hands turned against orcs. Furthermore, it has the We seen fighting orcs by man and dwarf alike, giving them some passive good PR, which can be important in the long run.

I think they won't be fighting, just being a general menace in the dark corners and making off with everybody's corpses. You know, random cave encounter style. It's what they've already been doing in the Under Citadel, just back to orcs again after we wiped out the Skaven.

On a related note, I'm happy they want to officially join us. Even if the integration will be weird, the We are super nice and charitable. It makes sense when one considers that they're exemplars of the concept of communalism being a valid evolutionary strategy, but it still kind of flies in the face of stereotypical chitinous cave dweller tropes.

So it does not have the downsides of potential scarce prey, relying on independent contractors, or the cost of cattle imports but in exchange provides no secondary benefit? Sounds good to me, especially as they consider us providing them access to the gauntlet as us feeding them and therefor payment for silk.

I've got more than 1000. The problem is that sometimes when I need to find something form a few years ago I have to go through a few nested restore sessions with >1000 each. I don't remember a time when the first tab was not an old restore session.
I have no idea how you people operate and I was happier when I wasn't aware of it. I don't even like having more tabs than the amount where it starts to shrink them...

I really don't want to leave the boon hanging over our, and more importantly, Belegars, head.

Eight pounds of live animal becomes one pound of raw silk. This is an extremely simple problem to solve. Start importing live produce and paying the local hunters to start setting snares and digging pits.

Karak 8 peaksis sitting on a pile of money that is sized at yes. Theres no point saying to wait until its wealthy enough it hax gold reserves in such size it could flood the empire and create hyper inflation like the spanish armardas did.

Crazy thought - Do we have a plan for if any of the We develop an aptitude for magic?
I'm guessing that if it's possible at all they've already got an evolved behavior to deal with it. Likely eating the offending party.
As I understand it, because of the way halflings have absolutely no warp presence, Esmerelda doesn't actually, uh, exist.

Like, there's ceremonies and rituals that the halflings hold for her, but she doesn't actually exist as a warp entity the way that, say, Ranald does.
Canon halflings have reduced warp presence? Wait, does this mean that the Tau were 40k halflings this entire time? They're both communally-minded, non-warpy critters living on the edges of human controlled areas who specialize in ranged combat because their physiology makes them unsuited for melee and are such a small polity compared to the empire that despite punching above their weight class they're still strategically irrelevant. Have we checked whether halflings are secretly weeaboos?
